SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 26, 2023 4:58 am

Good morning,

I'm up early this morning - 3:30. Just had enough of sleeping for the night I guess. I do try to hold the hairy hoardes off from their breakfast until at least 4:30, though. Otherwise, they want their supper at 2 in the afternoon!

Yesterday I just played in my sewing room making August Lotto blocks. They are composed of only 2-1/2" squares and HST's. I have a ton of squares already cut and even had HST's all made and trimmed - all leftovers from old projects. All I had to do was sew them together to make the blocks. Easiest lotto ever! Then I kitted up a couple of Halloween projects before going outside to read and play with the owls. This morning I have chiropractor appt after my walk. Then, we're picking up our two elderly friends (85 and 94) and taking them to lunch at the Spaghetti Factory. Bill decided to go along this time so we have a driver to let us off at the door, It takes some doing to get everyone out of the car, and into the restaurant. The "young" one is still recovering from a broken back. They both recently lost their husbands - since Covid. For many years we all went out as a group or gathered at each other's homes. I've known Esther (85) for 34 years and Norrie (94) since I was a teenager. They are special to me.

I don't know if I'll get to any sewing today. But if I do, I will start cuting out Catholes.

IRISH!! - There you are! So good to hear from you! Lots of news coming from PA! Glad your sister's house finally sold. Is her family any better about the sale? She had two knee replacements already, didn't she? And now a hip. She will be a bionic sister! And how are YOU doing? Better than last time we talked, I hope. I do pray the property across from you always stays the same as it is now. But somehow it seems that developers can "bulldoze" their way past all kinds of rules. Glad Nick is coming home to the USA, but sorry he won't be closer to you. But maybe one day you can take a trip to visit them. How is Steven doing? And Terry since his move?

JANA - how did the dr appt go? Any news about Kari's latest interview yet? When do her parents arrive? I assume they will be staying either with D&K or at a motel? Chocolate Chip cookies are my favorite. Just sayin'. . . . And we were thrilled to have your girls stay with us even if just for one night. We enjoyed them a lot. Wish they could have stayed longer but that is how travel goes sometimes.

TINA - glad Frankie got his root canal overwith and that he found it painless. Does he have to go back or was it a one and done appt? If I have to spend a lot of time in the dental chair I get headaches, too, but mine are from the neck supports which never seem to fit me just right.

CAROL - any news on the new pool in the neighborhood? I hope you like your new dentist. I did take a picture of my placemats and also the table topper. But for some reason they just wouldn't post. I'll try again today.

BECCA - glad your dr appts went well and you still had time in your day for a nice walk. How was the painting class?

Since we're going out to lunch today, I'm guessing if we're even hungry come supper time, we'll just reheat lunch leftovers. And as yet, I don't know what they will be, but it IS called the Spaghetti Factory, so there's a hint . . .

What's supper going to be at your house?

Good morning all!
Mary, 3:30 yuck! That's a sleepless night for me.... I'd only get maybe 4 hours sleep that way.
What Halloween projects did you kit up?
The spaghetti factory sounds yummy, enjoy friends and food ❤
Frankie has to go get his tooth filled this afternoon but thankfully it's here in town.... we're too be at least 105° today so I don't want to go anywhere.
I'm going to work on my Christmas blocks today. I want to get those finished before I decide on August lotto.
Vacuuming, dusting, mopping and watering all need to be done too. Never a shortage of things to do, I just don't understand how anyone gets bored.
Supper will be California chicken BLT ring I think.

Good afternoon from another hot and sunny day in SW. Pa..... We have had rain and the storms are pretty intense and most are in the evening...Poor BabyGirl just hides under the bed and shudders...My uglies are done for the day and I'm waiting for an old neighbor to stop by...Shouldn't call her old, she was much younger than all of us and she's the one who called our street, "Old Lady's Lane"...It will be fun to catch up with her....
Forgot to tell you, yesterday was a special milestone for me...Way back in 1950, on a Tuesday evening, we were bringing in the last load of hay and most of us piled up on top...Well, the load shifted and we slide off, me ending up on the bottom of the pile with a shattered femur....As bad as it was, it played a major role in my future....I was in traction, in the hospital for months and after surgery, came home bedridden and in a body cast until Christmas....But, Jim just happened to be in the hospital room next door and the nurses would tell him to "go visit that little girl next door" and he did! After I went home, he continued to visit, went into the service and when he came home, we were married in a small ceremony at the Cathedral in Greensburg....This coming October would have been our 69th anniversary had he not passed..... I have a very hard time thinking it's been that long but when you have a son who is 66, yep, it's been that long....Also can't believe Jim is gone and there are days, I still expect to wake up and he's beside me....So, when I think about it, July 25 as a good day and I had a "lucky break"......
Well, I've already taken up much too much time and need to get the coffee or iced tea ready.....As for my supper, boy, that's really up in the air but there's always a bowl of cereal....

Will catch up with you all tomorrow, God willing....

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating.............

Good afternoon!

Michael is at the cardiologist office for his post operative checkup. This one is up town at the big hospital. Irish - he had a triple by-pass three weeks ago. He even got to ride in the life flight helicopter! So he's doing well. Matt took him today - too hard to get both of us there, so I just wait here for the report. Sarah and Matt are very good.

Dinner - I made a pot of turkey stock from bones Sarah gave me, so will make noodles for dinner. The stock is no salt and I will add just a touch of salt to the noodle dough.

We were flrting again with triple digits, but a huge thunderstorm just popped up and is pouring down rain and is dropping the temp rapidly. It's a very noisy cloudburst with hail, right over my house! Add lightning too!

Not much else happening here. Just getting all the uglies done and trying to get the house some what company ready - Kari's parents will be here this weekend.

Mary - Daniel is now dealing with the kitty I spoiled. Smokey sits and gives him the stink eye until she gets her spoonful of wet food. I smile!

Tina - hope some of this rain makes it to you, the storm patterns look good for that.

Irish - so good to see you!

Becca - just because the teacher is doing simple, doesn't mean you can't out do all the class! Go for it and make it great!

Carol - your quilts were beautiful I saw the other day. Is this new sign in a neighbor yard the same with the pool? If it is, I guess they are creating a artificial lake!

Time to scoot,
Hugs,
Jana

Well I didn't get to sew, I kinda ran out of energy after vacuuming and doing the kitchen and 2 loads of clothes. And now I have my cabinet filled with cake pans that I'll be baking tomorrow, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. I'm the Baker and Holly will decorate them. Jana, I wish you were here to help, I'm afraid they're gonna turn out not good and they're for Jazmyne's party. Friday I'm making the macaron cookie part so Saturday I'll fill and sandwich them. Saturday morning I'm making cupcakes for a tower I think she said. So no sewing till Sunday at the earliest, maybe Monday though.
Jazmyne made orange chicken for supper and tomorrow night she wants to make merry me chicken? LOL
We hit 107° today 🥵
Jana, I hope his appointment went well. I'll take some rain, yes please.
Irish, I love your story ❤ I read it to Jazmyne, it put a smile on her face.
Becca, I hope they get your dryer fixed... maybe you need to be the squeaky wheel.
Frankie's tooth is all fixed, he's happy. He still has a little bit of his headache but I think he doesn't drink enough water. I told him to drink extra to wash that novocaine out of his system or whatever it is they use these days.
You all have a great evening.
Tina

Tina, how fun for you to have Jazmyne there to cook for you. I bet the cake will be wonderful.

Jana, hope Michael got a good report. I love a good thunderstorm, but we don't get them very often here.
When we had the house in Illinois, we'd get a good one when we were there in summertime.

Irish, that's a nice story.

Becca, sounds like the dryers need to be replace. 3 hours is rediculous.

Mary, like Tina said...what Halloween project? So nice that you have friends for that long. Did you have a good lunch? 3:30 is way too early.

I finished up my Christmas swap blocks today. I'll get them in the mail soon. I shipped the Butterfly quilt to my niece today. She should have it in a few days. Hope she like it.

Dinner was cereal for me, DH is having leftover pizza. It's get what you want night.

Have a lovely evening.
