SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, July 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jul 13, 2023 6:08 am

Good morning,

I was up early again this morning but at least I slept until 4:20. Yesterday it was 3:15. I love early but even for me, that's just wrong. I'm out on the deck coversing with the owls. There was a big to-do out front between them and Scottie this morning. Lots of barking, lots of "fweeeing", and lots of flying about. Quite a show.

Yesterday I finished The Third Shirt! Hooray! I even learned how to make buttonholes on my machine. Today's plan is to go back to The Second Shirt, fix two little seams, add a pocket, and do more buttons and buttonholes. That's the shirt that was too thick and heavy for snaps down the front placket. But I already have them on the cuffs and they ain't coming off, so this shirt will be a mixture, I guess. I also have to pick Bill up at Dodge Dealer in Tacoma this morning and then a friend is bringing 2 pr of pants by for me to shorten for her. So it would appear that I am not done with clothing sewing yet. Sigh.

CAROL - your day sounds idyllic! I'm so glad. You deserve a special day to be queen! And what a find on that fabric! Plus lunch at Black Bear Diner! I like that chain. Before our Vicki lost her marbles, she went there with her kids, bought four mugs and gave them to us. They are Bill's favorite mugs for his morning coffee. You asked what's next on my to-do sewing list. I have the Home Sweet Home swap and a wallhanging of the Northern Lights to quilt/bind, and 3 tops I put away last summer that I made from scrap strips, orphan blocks, and 1-1/2" squares. They need borders, then quilting/binding, too, and will be donated somewhere. Plus, I have Cat Scratch and now Catholes to kit up and maybe get started on. I also have the Sparrows pattern. And it's in the back of my mind to make Gypsy Dancer again (I've done four already) but this time in Christmas fabrics. I'm getting into the Christmas spirit here. (Now, aren't you glad you asked!)

JANA - Michael is home! Hooray! I expect you are going to be pretty busy for a while, caring for him, and cooking. I'll do my part. I'll lift the ban on CATFOOD just for him because it's probably going to be part of his new diet. And you are right - I did blow through all my projects last year. And you are also right that we will have a snuggly, cuddly distraction this year. We might even get to do some babysitting!

BECCA - You had a good time with family last night, I see. They must live very close to you. The picture you e-mailed me was beautiful! I can post if it you would like me to. I hope you never meet that bear on your walks! You remind me of that old ditty: "Algie met a bear and the bear met Algie. The bear got bulgie, and the bulge was Algie!" Don't be that bear's bulge!

TINA - I was wondering if you hung a temporary curtain/quilt/shower curtain, etc where you go down into your addition if it would help to keep your house cool. Do you keep the other bedroom doors in your house closed when not in use? That really helps here. The party for Jaz sounds like such a lot of fun! She will always remember it! Does she have a special dress to wear?

LORI - what a great trip you had! So many wonderful things you saw and did! My kind of trip! But so sorry to come home to sad news about your Bill's cousin.

Today is going to be 80*~ish and busy. I won't be wanting to cook, I'm sure, and I found a block of chicken & rice soup in the freezer. So that's out, thawing, and I'll be making a salad.

What will be your supper tonite?

Good morning all! 🌞
Mary, yay for finishing the shirt, I hope the buttons are already done on the 2nd one as I type.
My kids quit bringing alterations and repairs because I never got to them 😂🤣 I don't like clothes sewing anymore.
We can't block off down stairs because our freeze and refrigerator that are down there would work even harder to cool plus that's where the dogs sleep, we can't shut doors to other rooms upstairs because they all have ducting and vents and it would affect our thermostat. Tomorrow the guy is supposed to come fix our mini split 🤞
Jazmyne will be shopping for her special dress, she has one but it needs major reinforcement for the bust and shoulders for her and they've waited too long now for the seamstress to alter it I'm sure.
Becca, I hope your new Dr is a keeper!
I made egg rolls last night and tonight I'm making Chinese and adding the leftover egg rolls.

We went to Elkhorn Slough this morning. It is an estuary. We saw sea otters from a distance. There were about ten. We were told that is a raft. There is a colony of about one hundred in the slough, but usually they are near Moss Point. It was fun to see them.

Dinner will be at Paneras. We just want something light. We are just about packed and ready to leave after breakfast tomorrow.

Becca - Is the new doctor a geriatric doctor? I am thinking I will be changing doctors to a geriatric specialist soon.

Maryz - Hope you sleep later tomorrow.

Carol
