SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 12

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 12, 2023 4:50 am

Good morning,

Already July 12. Summer is half over. We'll be leaving for Texas in about 3-1/2 months. I already have a list started of what to take, sewing-wise. I'm going to start Kitting up some projects before long. Yesterday I worked on that shirt. Today - sleeves, cuffs, and hem. After that, all that's left is buttons/buttonholes or snaps if they will work. I still have to add the buttons/holes to the second shirt because even heavy duty snaps just wouldn't go through the thick fabric. But first - a chiropractor appt. I'm overdue.

CAROL - happy birthday a day late! You really celebrated in style. Did you buy any fabric? Patterns? Books? And yes, since it's your birthday, a dispensation is allowed. I hope you enjoyed it!

BECCA - Your post was full of good things! Heathy twins, chubby baby, white squirrel, a truly floral quilt, and Mark's improvement. I would love to see that "quilt" at the Arboretum. And the white squirrel. We have little brown ones here but the big greys moved in so the little ones stay mostly in the front woods now and the greys get the back. They've worked it out.

TINA - the shirt is half done. Maybe today . . . . I have a similar recipe for that chicken/cabbage/ramen salad. It's really good, though I haven't made it in years. I'm so happy you got some relief in your sewing room! But shouldn't the A/C you added last year cool your sewing room, too? Doesn't seem as if you should have to have separte A/C for other parts of the house. But then, we don't have any at all so I know nothing about A/C.

Tonite, we're going to have BBQ'd pork sandwiches and corn on the cob for supper. I'm already hungry!

How about you?

Mary, don't rush summer, we're not even a month in. It only started on June 21st. I need to enjoy everyday. I bet you can't wait to hold little miss in your arms. She'll have that wonderful baby smell. If you run out of things to kit up, I have extra already kitted. Just let me know.

Carol, Happy belated birthday. Hope it was wonderful. Did you have cake?

Tina, I sure hope you get the A/C thing figured out. When it's hot, it's no fun at all.

We'll I got home yesterday afternoon. What a wonderful week. Quilting, Alpaca, waterfalls, a winery, dancing, and lots of eating and laughing. We also went and found a quilt barn trail on the way to Portland.
It is the Tualatin Valley Barn Trail. There are 4 trails with about 10 blocks each. We saw 6 blocks and it took about 3 hours driving to find them. It was fun. Now back to home, shopping, cleaning, and hanging with the family. The OC fair starts on Friday, so we'll plan a trip there soon. Can't wait to see all the wonder quilts and crafts.

When I got home we got notice that Bill's cousin was found in his house on the floor barely breathing. He had a major stroke. He died a few hours later at the hospital. He lived in Decatur Il. where we used to have our other house. Bill was pretty close with him.

Don't know what's for dinner yet. I'm sure I'll have to go shopping at some point today to get food.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)

Good morning all! 🌞
Mary, I'm hoping summer will get I've faster! These 100+ degree days are killers!
On the AC, my room does get the main AC but it's a weak stream, apparently the ducting isn't aligned right maybe or has a kink in it maybe. It does help but not when I have the iron on heating up faster than it can cool down. Plus we're at 2200 sq ft and it's a lot to try to cool, the addition doesn't have any ducting and that's why the mini split is down there for cooling that part. And wow does it make a huge difference on the cooling of ther house with the mini split not working.... he's supposed to come out Friday to fix it. 🤞
Even though I set the thermostat at 73° it keeps most of the house about 76° it took my awhile to find the right setting to where it's livable in the main part of the house. If I'm cooking or have to turn the oven on it's a real challenge to keep it under 80 in ther house though.
Becca, I'd love to see a white squirrel, I've never seen one.
Lori, I followed your trip through your pics on Facebook, looks like you had a total blast! What fun to go find the barn quilts! I want to put one on my chicken coup, it's kind of a tiny barn 😉
Supper ...... hmmmmmm I had a thought earlier and now I can't remember. Jazmyne may not be here, she's going shopping for birthday decorations with her mom. They are throwing her a Sweet 16 birthday party the 29th. It's going to be at the country club with dancing and food and a dressy occasion. I'm looking forward to it ❤❤

Good afternoon!

Today's is the day! Sarah is 9n the phone with the hospital setting up everything. He'll come home after dinner tonight. We have a appointment with the landscaper and Michael doesn't want that changed. Hospital says anytime up to 11pm today. So my dinner will be a whatever I grab on the way after the meeting. Sarah will go with me to go get Michael. We got and checked carefully food for his new diet. Good to have a Sarah! I mostly cook from scratch, so it's not tobad, just need to pay attention to sodium levels. He's allowed up to 700 milligrams per meal, so it some.

Tina - oh how fun, a dressy sweet 16 party! How many willbe coming? Jaz will remember this her entire life!

Lori - your trip sounded delightful! Oregon is very pretty. We've traveled in parts as Michael has a brother there.

Carol - Happy Birthday! Your trip sounds great too! Point Lobos is great too.

Mary - getting things kitted is great! Remember, over do them! You blew through early what you took last year. But then again, you have a wonderful new distraction that needs lots of cuddles!

Becca - in Golden Gate Park, the gardeners did something similar each year. One was a huge clock in flowers that actually kept time and a matching bed of flowers that did things like quilt blocks.. they were quite elaborate.

Kitty and I have become great friends. Just as she's leaving. I think the fish and Smokey will move this weekend. But it's OK with me if she stays longer.

Well, waiting for a call back from Sarah, she's great at note taking, and will figure out details,
Hugs,
Jana

Good Evening,

Maryz - You must have finished the third shirt today. What is next? You finished the OWL quilt. I know you are working on Christmas swap and July lotto. Yes I bought fabric. I found a beautiful piece for background that had been marked down to $7.00 per yard and bought what they had - 4-7/8 yards.

Tina - so much fun for Jazmyne to have a fancy party for her sixteenth birthday.

Jana - Hope Michael is home and doing well. Good luck with the landscaper.

Becca - Oh yes, it is Wednesday so it is time to have dinner with family. I am sure you enjoy that.

Lori - Yes I had chocolate cake. We had a perfectly wonderful day. The day couldn’t have been better. Sounds like you had a wonderful time on your trip. Good luck with your quilt at the OC Fair.

Dinner was at Black Bear Diner. It was good. The Aquarium was lovely this afternoon. We had a good walk this morning.

Carol
