SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 05, 2023 6:24 am

Good morning,

I hope you all had a nice Fourth no matter how you celebrated. The older I get the more this holiday means to me. We had a great day and evening. I had plenty of time to do my kitchen work in the morning, sew on my Christmas Swap blocks, quilt a little bit of OWL in the afternoon, and visit with our new Boondocker who is an avid quilter from CO. We had a good time sharing pictures, stories, questions, and other adventures in sewing. They are leaving this morning and I'm sorry they aren't staying longer. They fit right in with our friends who came for the BBQ. In fact, they were all exchanging cards! lol! Our evening was nice and one couple even brought some empty peanut butter jars they'd saved for Scottie to lick out! Now THAT is a good guest! They also brought R/W/B silk leis for all us ladies and a pot of yummy beans! Everyone left by 10pm just when the "boomers" started booming. Things got very noisy for the next two hours. It was not a happy time for our furry or feathered folks here! Today, I'll do some sewing, some quilting, and some relaxing with a book, I think. We are almost finished cleaning up after the party. Bill needs to fold up a table and the lawn chairs and put them away and take out the trash but that's about all there is left to do. I already cleaned up the kitchen.

TINA - I'm imagining your room and I think I've got it. When you sit to sew, will you face the wall (where your LA used to be) or will you arrange your machine differently. Glad you had an iron waiting in the wings though I had a Shark once and it did the same thing your iron just did to you. So I am off that brand along with Rowenta and Oliso. My new iron is supposed to be delivered today. I feel for your granddoggies being alone and hearing all the booming from the fireworks. Glad you are watching out for them. What all is Holly and fam doing while in San Diego? I don't suppose they will go to QIAD and bring you back a "souvinier"? San Marcos is close!

JANA - glad to hear Michael is being such a good patient and making progress. Has he ever had heart problems before or is this all a total surprise to you? You have said he was a big foggy on occasion and breathless now and then. But you thought they were sequellae to his Covid. Maybe not? ICU rooms are certainly not designed with the comfort of visitors in mind!! Probably for a reason.

BECCA - oh, I hope you don't start clucking! People tend to look askance at clucking ladies! You mentioned going to watch/listen to a band yesterday. It instantly brought to my mind the old Disney movie, "Pollyanna" and the scene where the band played in a park gazebo, on Fourth of July.

CAROL - My furbabies agree with you about the fireworks! Even our owls kicked up quite a protesting fuss last night. Did you get your bindings on yesterday?

We have a lot of brats left over so we will have more of those tonite, plus a green salad. Other folks brought the side dishes we had last night and took home their leftovers, thankfully. They were all so good and I know I'd be overeating if I had them here. My coconut cake turned out pretty well but we have half of it left, so I'll going to send a couple pieces with our Boondockers this morning. We have WAY too much for us!

What's going on your plate tonite

Good afternoon!

Just puttering around here - cleaning and finding any miscellaneous Barbie stuff left here. We call that little stuff, Yoohoodi food, because he'll try to "eat" it and it gets stuck. Karlie always looked for me before we turned Yoohoodi loose. But alas, she's not here. So I have a bit more looking to do.

Dinner - it's what ever I like that Michael doesn't. I think my Highlander may know the way, somewhere.

Matt, family, Sandee, Sarah, family are all heading up to camping spot for a few days. Sandee has pulled a trailer before, but not quite as big as the new one. Daniel made sure it was secured and she's leaving in a few minutes. Camp is just up from the hospital, about the same time travel as me to the hospital. Besides the big trucks hauling the trailers, there are extra cars so they can come down and visit each day.

Michael is still in the ICU, at least as I'm typing now. Daniel works just a couple of blocks from the hospital too. His office is doing several major additions on the hospital, so he can see Michael and check in on work happening there.

So that's it from these parts,
Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone!
Mary, I bet it was fun for both of you to get to talk quilting.
I'll be sitting where the LA was but I'll be facing the window, it'll help me see plus not feel so closed in being able to see outside even though I'm across the room.
My iron that burned up was a B&D this new one is a Shark, I hope it lasts awhile.
Holly and family aren't doing much, going to the beach and I got texts from Easton last night that said the hotel they're staying at is the best hotel in the world! 🤣😂
Preston doesn't want to go back to the beach because he doesn't like all the sand on him and having to take extra baths to get it off 🤣😂 he was trying to talk mommy into staying at the hotel with him today. I haven't checked to see what they've actually done yet.
Adam's driving and he wouldn't get me a souvenir if someone paid him 🤦‍♀️
Becca, sounds like you are keeping very busy. Bears! Oh goodness, be watchful and careful.
Jana, I'm so glad Michael is improving and moving out of CICU. I hope he continues in leaps and bounds.
We went to town for the fireworks show, it was pretty awesome! Way louder than at the airport because it echoes off the streets and buildings. Town was mobbed though. We found a parking lot a little away that wasn't as busy though. All the kids were loving it and it was fun to watch and listen to their amazement!
I didn't get to sew today, I overdid it yesterday and hurt myself so today I'm doing laundry and even stripped the bed and got it all washed and remade. I even washed the quilt, it was dry in less that 30 minutes on the line.
I'm fixing tacos for supper, Dad's night 😊
Dad had a telimed appointment this morning so he was here for that. His PSA levels are up a little but they're going to wait till October to see if they've gone back down before they start to worry. It might've been those 4 months he was off his cancer med.

Dinner was a repeat of last night’s dinner, Pasta and meat sauce with a side salad.

Tina - I like facing a window when I sew. Maybe I should change my sewing room?? Take it easy!!

Maryz- You have a new quilting friend!! Wonderful!

Jana - Such a tragedy about Daniel’s friend. My condolences to Daniel.

Becca - You are a social butterfly these days. Special thoughts for CA today.

I got ready for my classes today and finished the binding. I am going to try machine binding the second one this evening.
