SUPPER CLUB - Monday, June 19th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jun 19, 2023 5:57 am

Good morning,

Our spaghetti dinner turned out well last night. Even my homemade meatballs! I haven't made them from scratch for many years - usually I just brown hamburger or buy frozen ones. I baked them in the oven and then added them to my sauce which simmered in the crockpot on LOW for several hours.

Yesterday I got my OWL November block all fused and ready to stitch down. I'll do that today and get started on the little blocks. Then only one more month to go. Whew! It's been a fun project but I've been doing nothing else since the beginning of April. I'm ready to move on to something new. Don't know what that will be yet. But something always comes along.

TINA - I don't think I"d like to play golf in 99* heat. How did they do? I've used the fusible tape to piece batting leftovers. I've also stitched them together but I loosen the tension on my machine to help with puckering. Cindy uses 1-sided fusible interfacing cut into strips. Much cheaper than the tape.

CAROL - I've been checking my library for Amanda Flowers. I download audio books to my phone, using the Libby app. And then I "read" (listen) while I sew/garden/clean/cook/etc. But so far, I haven't found her. I may have to actually walk into the library and check out a book. Which would be weird for me as I have about 700 books in this house! lol! But none by that author. Yet.

BECCA - I'm glad you have such good access to books. I have to have books in my life just like I need fabric and cats. I listen to audio books during the day - because, like you, I have to be busy all the time - and I read regular books at night when I go to bed. Bill even built a bookshelf in our trailer so I can take a fairly large selection of paperbacks with me when we travel.

LORI - I've never had a cherry lemon meringue pie. My brother 'invented' a pumpkin cherry pie that he likes. He occasionally invites company for supper and it's his standard company dessert. I haven't tried it myself.

Supper is an unknown at this point. Bill is starting the first day of his 3-day colonoscopy prep so leftovers from last night are off the table. I have to study his list of Do Not Eat items and go from there. Maybe grilled cheese or poached eggs. I could make chicken soup without the carrots. . . . I'll figure it out later.

What are you having?

Good morning everyone!
Mary, thankfully the guys were finished before the 99° hit but it was 90 or 93° when they did. Frankie won with an 80 something and Kevin had a 90 something, they couldn't remember Easton's score but said he did really good on the fairways but needs work on the greens, he's 9 so I think he did great just to actually play all 18 holes. Matthew didn't play but did hit a couple balls and he had fun being with them.
Carol, I don't think I've heard about that author, I may have to look her up. I pretty much only read book books because my eyes get tired with screens way faster. Right now I'm reading Longmire, Kevin is reading them and as he finishes he brings me them.....I don't have to buy any that way 😁
Becca, we didn't eat supper last night either, neither of us were hungry but we did have a piece of pecan pie al a mode and it was yummilicious!
Lori, cherry lemon meringue? Hmmmmmm maybe I need to read that recipe. I'm a lemon person in the summer, it's so refreshing.
Well since I didn't put my supper order outside the for last night it's up to me to cook 😉🤪 I know I need to use up some potatoes and we haven't had fried potatoes in ages and they're my Dad's all time favorite so I'll make that and then see what I can put with them.

Good Juneteenth Morning!

Maryz - Have you ever looked at https://cozy-mystery.com/? It gives you the books in the order they were written so you can follow the story. I finished the last one of the series that has been written yesterday, Blueberry Blunder.

Tina - I think Lori bought two pies a Cherry Pie and a Lemon Meringue Pie. I did not make desert. I asked DH and he said "no". We had Pasta Shells and Meat sauce. I added beets, carrots and cucumbers to the green salad. We each had a piece of Garlic Bread so we didn't need or want desert.

Well, I got caught up in reading yesterday and got no sewing done. I will be doing some today for sure. I will also be going to the gym. The sky is dripping and there are puddles on the sidewalks. The courts are closed (as well as schools, banks and post office and federal buildings) so DH is home.

Dinner will be leftovers. We have a lot of stuff in refrigerator.

Carol, yes, it was two pies. Lol

Shane can't eat cherries, so I got a second pie. Cherries give him migraines.

I just read a meme yesterday that pointed out the different meanings when you leave out punctuation.

Good afternoon!

Been busy with too many uglies! Even cleaned the refrigerator! Uggh! Still haven't made it out on a scavenger hunt, but at least there's room for good stuff.

Dinner - toying with making homemade gnocchi. There's a recipe using instant potato flakes I have. Plus I have a little special gnocchi paddle to help shape them. We'll see...

So not much happening here. We have a huge dust storm blowing in off the west desert . Lots of wind. Can't see my mountains across the valley.

Well, it's time to go get food,

Hugs,
Jana

Becca, you have had a lot of big life changes in the last year. I know it must be hard on you.
Are you sewing at all? I think you do embroidery too. Maybe keep a project near by that you can pick up when you're not busy. That will keep you mind busy. Hugs.

Mary, I make meatballs a couple time a week now. I use ground chicken, because my dad doesn't eat beef.
I use whatever herbs I have in the garden. They are always good and never exactly the same.

Jana, I hate cleaning the fridge more than anything, but I like when it's clean.

Tina, I took today off from cleaning. Maybe next time.

Did dad's grocery shopping this morning and walked Jack. Then was just kinda lazy until the afternoon.
Then I starting working on the flowers so I can finish up the wall hanging I started in class last week.

Dinner is on the grill now. Teriyaki chicken, rice, and steamed cauliflower.

Have a lovely evening.
