Sunday, April 30th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Apr 30, 2023 7:07 am

Good morning,

We are home! And we're going to eat supper today! It's all working out! We had such a nice time at the ocean. Our friends, Doyle & Susie were there, too, 3 of our 4 days. Then we had a beautiful drive across the state through the mountains on U.S. 12 (White Pass). After that we met a delightful man where we parked on his property as Boondockers. He was our host and affiliated with the second winery that we visited. It was the first time we had been the Boondocking campers. Usually we're the hosts. We liked this fellow so much, we may stay at his place again soon. We will be passing through about May 11 on our way to our friend, Betsy's, celebration of life in LaGrande, OR. We might go a day early and stay at his place again just to visit. He is halfway (200 miles).

Yesterday we were home and parked by noon. We emptied the trailer of all that needed to come inside the house and since yesterday was 80* and a slight breeze, I whipped the sheets off the trailer bed, washed them, and dried them on the line. I also did the cotton sheets because I figure when we go out next in the trailer we won't not be needing the flannels. Today I'll finish the rest of the laundry and clean the inside of the trailer. I was going to do some yard work but it looks like it's going to be wet and chilly so I guess I'll stay inside. The garage really needs cleaning but I'd also like to do a few flower blocks for May Lotto. And then there's OWL, and The Shirt. I've figured out that I no longer like garment sewing. Bad timing as I still have 1-1/2 shirts to go. And a sundress.

LORI - you're going to the quilt show in Sisters?? You lucky! I've been to Sisters many times, but never for the big show. We've stayed at nearby Tumelo state park, at the RV park in town, and at our friends who live in nearby Bend. The quilt shop is fun and I've done a few of their patterns where the entire quilt is a big applique'd scene. They had a whole wall of batiks last time I was there. I had a hard time resisting them. They are half yarn shop, too. You are going to have a lot of fun! It's the second weekend in July, isn't it? July 8th. We've never done any wine-tasting in Sisters area but there is a vodka distillery nearby. I think it's between Sisters and Bend. I'm not a big vodka drinker but was fun to go taste the different vodkas. We bought a bottle of their hot chile vodka about 4 yrs ago. We still have most of that bottle. lol!

BECCA - that Harvey house slaw you mentiond sounds intriguing. I'm always looking for a new kind of salad. What's in it?

Last night was such a great day and we grilled chicken and ate on the deck (and spent the entire evening out there until bedtime). Today I'm taking the leftover chicken and making chicken tacos, I think. Pretty sure that will make my hubby smile.

What sounds tasty at your place for tonite?[/flash][/flash]

Good Morning,

Maryz- You sound like you really enjoyed your trip. You sound like you like being a boon docker as much as a boon docker host. Glad you got home early enough to clean the trailer. Gives you lot of time for other things now. I think if you were making something for yourself sewing clothes would not be so bad. It is making the clothes for others that is so hard.

Becca - I am sure glad Gabe is doing well. Did he come home from hospital or was it an outpatient procedure. It doesn't sound like something that would be outpatient. Enjoy the concert this afternoon.

Lori - The Christmas quilt for the raffle is beautiful. Who designed it? Is it for one of your Guilds Opportunity Quilts?

Jana - It sounds very normal for Karlie to be glad her Mom is home. Even if she is with her grandparents, it isn't the same as having her Mom home. Sounds like you are down to the last of the stars! Enjoy the sewing time today.

I am thinking I will spend some time weeding today. I also want to sew. Mary asked how many projects I have. I need to get the borders on the Tennessee Waltz, a charity quilt project sewn together then I can start on some new quilts. I am distracted by sewing pillowcases. I went to an estate sale a couple of weeks ago. They had tubes of pillowcase fabric. I am doing French seams at one end and then drawing scallops on the other end and satin stitching the scallops and trimming. I have completed two and have three more to finish. In years past women probably embroidered these. They are very nice fabric and look beautiful just plain.

Dinner will be Chicken Teriyaki with rice.

Carol

Good afternoon!

Beautiful, bright and warm today. The snow melt seems tobe cooperating and not causing bad flooding. Just a spot here and there. I can see the snow disappearing every day. It quite obvious.

Working on my stars. I can do that and watch my Giants game too. Stu is down visiting and watching train videos with Grandpa. Today's is about grade crossings and the how and why they work. Something Grandpa did for too many years to remember. The two of them call out all the mistakes. Train control using microprocessors to most is smoke and mirrors.

Mary - sounds like it was a wonderful adventure out. Still no word from Sandee and Sarah, so, if you get booked, don't worry about them. Also with Tommy living at Sandee's, the trip may not happen, with all the divorce proceedings going on.

Carol - you have a full plate of projects! Pillow cases can be fun - I would cheat and use my sewing machine to do the embroidery on them. I have some old ones my Grandmother did hand embroidery and I have a pattern instructions to turn them into a doll, but the case stays totally intact. One day I'll do them for my granddaughters.

Dinner- we did our late brunch, so we'll just piece on leftovers. Tomorrow is new food. Need to hunt up some new recipes to try.

Time to finish these stars. I am being very good at not starting another project and it's driving me bananas!

Hugs,
Jana

Mary, thanks for t information on Sister's.

Carol, my friendship group is making the quilt. We raffle it off and donate the money to the guild. We sell limited amount of tickets at a higher price.
Last one we did we sold 100 tickets at $25 per ticket. Sounds like you found a good deal with the pillow case fabric.

Becca, what concert did you see?

Jana, I know what you mean about not starting another project. I'm really bad about seeing patterns and starting them

I got my dog houses done. I found a few different types of dogs to go with them. I've been listening to Stagecoach live on Sirius XM. They've had some great music. Chris Stapleton just came on about 20 minutes ago. He is such an amazing artist.

We had Pizza and salad for dinner.

Sleep well
