SUPPER CLUB - Friday, April 21st

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Apr 21, 2023 6:46 am

Good morning,

Another cool, intermittedly wet day here, but warmer, dryer days are coming next week. They say. 8-)

Yesterday was another full to the brim day - dental appts, groceries, fetch mail, laundry, sheets, supper prep., and finally, pulling more fabrics for OWL. I think I have more than enough prepped to take camping. I may not even touch it but I want to be prepared in case the weather turns nasty outside and I get tired of reading and winning at cribbage.

Today we're going to Tacoma to take "Chip" into the Bernie spa. I also want to stop at Joann's to look at their hanging silk plants which are on sale right now. This afternoon I have an appt for a haircut. And my sewing room looks like a bomb went off. So I think my day is covered.

BECCA - I usually time my morning walk to the changing time. In winter, I meet Lori from across the road at 8:30. In summer it's 7:00. Right now, we're walking at 7:45. It's seldom hot enough here to worry about beating the heat. Those strawberries sound yummy. I'm waiting for the day I see good ones in the store. I'm ready to make jam! And Chickie is still making projects for others - just little ones now, and they take her a lot longer. She doesn't do much walking any more either. On her last walk, her vetigo hit her so bad that she did a serious face plant and did even more damage to herself.

VELDA - no hummers yet? We've seen a few "scouts" zooming around. I don't put out feeders because I'm not good at keeping them up. Also, because we travel so much, I don't want the birds to get dependent on us. We rarely eat red meat either, but once in a while a burger or a pot roast about once a year. And about once every two years I make swiss steak for company. That's about it. Oh, and the occasional steak for Bill.

JANA - how was your chicken tetrazinni? I love it! I often use leftover turkey, too. But recipes differ. I have two or three and usually use bits from them all. I'm wondering if yours might be even better! Oh, I'm sooo sorry about the carpet debate. We are fortunate and have almost the same taste in nearly everything here. Maybe you could find a shade somewhere in between? Dark beige/light rust? What about a light blue or green? Last time we carpeted in 2014, there were hundreds of colors to choose from. And they were ALL beige! One year my sister carpeted with a cranberry color because she thought her black cat would look stunning against the cranberry backdrop. And he did. But then he died. And she was stuck with that carpet for 10 years! Her next cats were beige and shed a lot of hair that really showed up on the cranberry carpet so she was constantly vacuuming. So there's lots of things to take into consideration . . .

CAROL - ok, it's morning! Hope you got rested up!

TINA - so happy to have you join us at the table! Good to hear you are closing in on finishing the house project. Sorry about the wind and dust. What kind of flowers did you plant? I gave up planting flowers anymore. They have become too much work for me to keep up. Silk is my go-to, now!

We have leftovers from last night - pot roast, potatoes, carrots. Bill says he wants a simple reheat so that will be supper for us tonite. And there is enough lettuce for one more salad.

Thoughts? What will your supper be tonite?

Good Morning,

Maryz - Yes, it is morning and I feel much better. You got a lot done. Happy haircut day. I get mine cut in two weeks. Prepping for camping meals is a must. You don't want to spend time in the trailer cooking.

Yesterday I did 30 minutes of weights at the gym, prepped dinner then went outside to use both electric hedge clipper and electric chain saw to cut down a rosemary bush. DH was weeding in back yard and when he saw what I was doing he started to help and said he would finish the weeding and then come back to finish. I worked a bit more and weeded a bit too. He came back and finished. I had loaded 3 small trash bins, two of which needed to be cut up smaller. He finished by using the chain saw. He had such a good time! He also cut up the larger branches. By the way, DH told me he didn't use the hedge clipper and didn't think it would do much. It did a lot!

While on Zoom last evening I told others what I wanted to do for the class on Saturday with Krista Moser's Vintage Windmill pattern. I don't have the fabric choices I wanted to use and am just going to make a practice block. One of the other ladies had the choice and cut it out last night! I will do it eventually, hers looked really wonderful. I want to do a white background with blue stars and a red stripe.

Jana - I too want to know about the recipe for Chicken Tetrazzini.

Becca - We are finally in the 70s however we are still getting a bit of wind. It was nice to work outside yesterday without too much wind.

Tina - So nice to have you at the table! I need to read your message from yesterday.

Dinner - I think it will be chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli and a salad.

Carol

Hi there y'all!

Been out running already today. I needed to do the school run for Sarah. So stopped off on the way home at a new cinnamon roll only store. Expensive and only so so. Daniel says mine are better. Such a good boy!

The chicken tetrazini is a keeper. Easy too. Made a ton, and I even cut it down. Here's the full recipe -

2 cans cream of chicken soup
2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup chicken stock
2 cups cooked chicken breast - I used rotisserie chicken breast from Costco - shredded or chopped
1/2 cup melted butter
Salt and pepper
16 Oz cooked linguini pasta
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Mix together the soup, butter, sour cream, stock, chicken, and pepper. The salt is used for cooking the pasta. Cook the pasta, drain and toss in the sauce. Stir in the cheese, and place in a 9x13 pan. Sprinkle on the parmesan, bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Now for the ideas of additional items in the sauce. Finely sliced chives or add peas, carrots, or even broccoli florets. It seems amenable to many ideas. I cut back on the amount of pasta, but left the sauce the original amount, we like saucy. But with five of us, there's enough for tonight too. Oh, our picky princess loved it and ate two helpings! It's a keeper.

Dinner - leftovers.

So far, it's a quiet day here. I may get to sew. Good to hear news of Chickie. Hope the university hospital holds some answers for her.

Maryz - enjoy the trip out. My kids are gearing up to start heading out too. Tonight Ethan and Matt's scout troop are going camping to the Sand Dunes. I think the side by side is too.

Becca - yes, our own are the cutest ever! No bias here!

Carol - busy as ever! I'm done with weeding , mine are all gone, along with everything! Just bare dirt! LOL!

Time to try to be useful,
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, the teacups are pieced. I wish they were paper pieced, it would be easier.
Thank you for the update on Mariam. I sure miss her. I do see her "like" things on Facebook, so I know she's still around. It would be great if they could fix the vertigo issue. That must be so horrible.

Carol, you sure were busy yesterday. Hope you find just the right fabrics for your project.

Becca, we're having high 80's possibly 90 today. It's extreme after being in the 50's last week. I like a gradual warm up.

Jana, enjoy your quiet time.

Tina, so good to see you at the table yesterday.

Yesterday was my friendship group day to sew. It was okay. Guild issues got brought up and it wasn't very fun. I came home and watched the the Cub vs Dodgers with Bill.

We had scalloped potatoes and chicken last night. We have lots of chicken left over, so I might do something with that tonight. Maybe chicken taco salad. We'll see.

Have a lovely day.

Hi everyone!
Busy cooking day! This morning I made two batches of Carmel Corn. Our ladies group at church is in charge of this month's family night. We chose to do bingo with prizes for young and old. All are donated items. Some are things we found at our rummage sale last fall like pretty dishes, pair of cute teddy bear bookends for example. Anyway, we will have pizza for the meal, then homemade snacks during bingo. I put the Carmel corn in individual bags for more sanitary.
Then made my chicken noodle casserole 1/2 batch from the leftovers of my rotisserie chicken from yesterday. Now all I need to do is fix a salad. I have been relaxing now with my word games on my phone.
Still no hummers, but our weather turned chilly again. 🙁🥴
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Hi everyone!
Today was a grocery run for Dad, he's all set for a couple weeks. Most of his groceries are animal food LOL, they eat very well.
Not much happening here today, it ended up blowing 24mph and that's just too much for what we need to do outside.
I did find a water leak at my tub so Frankie has been working on that. He went for his labs today and the doctor's office called and his imaging has been approved so he'll go Monday for those. I'm hoping all is A-Ok.
Supper tonight is leftover Philly steak and cheese and fries.
Tina
