SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Apr 11, 2023 6:49 am

Good morning!

We're 40* this morning, drizzly, and going to 49* but our afternoon will be dry. So, silver lining.

Yesterday I did some cleaning in our messy office and in the quilting room where the LA lives. Things seem to get out of hand quickly. I think the hardest part is figuring out where to store all my quilts! I try to use/display as many as I can in the house and trailer and rotate them frequently, but still - I have maybe 75 quilts in the rotation. lol! People say walking into my house is almost like walking into a quilt show! They use the words "warm" and "cozy" a lot. Oh wait. Maybe it's me that uses those words. I forget.

I did get my crazy quilt almost, not quite, halfway quilted. I may finish it today. I have the label and 440" of binding already made so after toting this project around the country for about 4 years, it could be finished and on our bed by the weekend! Mary Q says my March lotto winnings are in the mail - and might even be in our mail box at the UPS Store by now - so that's next up. I keep hoping QIAD will send my OWL pattern one day soon, but if they don't, it's back to making shirts for me, I guess. I only have about 5-1/2 months to get my Christmas shirts finished. And have two to make.

I think it was a rough first night home for our little Texas family. But then, first night's home are usually rough ones if I remember correctly. Especially with first babies. Autumn has always been a big fan of sleeping and of not being in pain. Since she can't take pain pills and Kumquat was probably awake a lot . . . I'm guessing everyone is pretty tired. Thank God Antonio is very hands on, helping both Kumquat and Aut and handling the house. Their friends have organized a meal train for next few weeks so they should be OK there.

JANA - One has to wonder - if Daniel doesn't have a house of his own yet, but he's emptying his storage unit, where is all the stuff going?? On some of those neat shelves he built in your garage? I can't believe Lila is already going to be 5 yrs old! Time is getting away from me. You are running low on babies to smooch!

CAROL - congrats on getting that TW together! I love that pattern. I might make another one some day. I gave mine away. Didn't see BC's 30 ways to use up leftover ham though I have a whole ham section in my recipe box. I only cooked half of our ham so there was only enough left for a few sandwiches for lunches. I promised to save the other half ham for when my sis and dbil arrive next month.

No cooking for me tonite. Well, I'll make a salad but our grandsons are coming over tonite and they've requested pizza. I could make pizzas, but I think Papa John's has sale prices on Tuesdays so we're going to look over their on-line menu and maybe go that way. By the time I pay for all the ingredients and toppings to make them, I've spent more than the pizza costs.

What's the plan at your house?

Happy National Pet Day,

Maryz – Good news is that Amara is home with her parents. Her parents, especially Autumn, I am sure is wishing you were there. Glad she has friends making her meals. It won’t be long and Autumn will be back to herself just feeling tired. Do you get Bird Brain Designs emails? They have really cute embroidered dogs and cats projects today.

Jana – I expected that you knew about the bank rates. What is published on the bank’s websites are not necessarily what applies to everyone. Some will get a higher rate. Be glad for your little tornado. She too will grow up too fast. You have had time to get to know her this past year and make many memories for her of this special time.

Yesterday I did not feel like sewing and I forgot to go to the gym! The bank took longer and I had more to do when I got home. It is all done and I feel very good about the results. I did go for a good long walk. I will work on the final seam on the Tennessee Waltz in a few minutes.

Dinner last night was Chicken that was thawed. We had ham sandwiches for lunch so dinner tonight I think it will be ham. I do need to do some grocery shopping today as well.

Carol

Good afternoon!

Well, the sun warmed up and our contractor for for yard will be here tomorrow moving dirt. From my yard, across the street to Sandee's backyard, where she's using it for fill in the bottom of her raised garden boxes in her yard. Win win I get it out of my way and she gets free fill! Next up is to contact the sprinkler specialist and he'll come and do all the sprinkler lines. Our landscaper will do that. We are on a roll - then comes the new trees and that company will do that planting. Last will be the sod, but that's OK as the sod company is still under snow up in Idaho.

I've been down in the Batt Cave cleaning, that is clearing out ancient frozen mystery stuff. Michael grumbled at what I pitched, but since it was 3 or more years in the freezer, out it went! So that job is done and all the pantry dry goods are organized and put away too. I can easily see what I need to restock. Basically, pasta! Karlie is a pasta fiend! Also I'm low on sugar and flour. Michael reminded me we are out of homemade strawberry jam. I will make a batch next week or so.

The state passed a new law, making kindergarten a all day class. No morning or afternoon like my kids did. So Lila will be at the same time as Gracie, which makes it easy on me for drop-off and pick up. With Kate's schedule unknown for her shifts, that's a good thing.

Dinner tonight is a roast tenderloin of pork. It's a very tender cut, not like the regular loin cuts. Debating on au gratin potatoes or pierogis, which I want to try. I bought some at Costco the other day. They are potato and cheese. Veggie tobe named later.

Sarah is here outside with her can of paint, marking up the yard for more dirt removal. Setting the tree area and the fireplace are. She is dealing with the engineer, her Dad. I am staying out of that argument! I'll make adjustments if needed layer, I know where the paint is!

Mary - I remember Sarah's first night home with Stuart. He was a good baby, after I got him trained! In the middle of the first night, I hear, Mama, come get him. So I did, patting him on the back, rocking him to sleep, and tagged him with his nickname. Little boy blue - I told him he'd blown his horn, now it's time to sleep.

Becca - that was along drive. Glad you are enjoying all around you! And congratulations on number 25 arriving this year! I'm only 10, but maybe one day, the greats will start appearing.

Time to scoot, maybe I should look at what they're doing.

Hugs,
Jana
