We are 30* this morning but going to a balmy 47* by afternoon. We had 1/2 inch of snow yesterday but it's all gone now. So pretty! I got my snow fix!
Yesterday was a nice day for us. Bill has a major project going on in the trailer - converting it from 30 amp to 50 amp so we can add a second AC if necessary when we go back to Texas. Aut has asked us to come back this fall earlier than usual (she wants a free babysitter

We had a nice dinner out last night at a place called McMenamins. This chain takes very old buildings and converts them. In OR and WA. This one is the old Elks Temple in downtown Tacoma - more than 100 years old. It's a hotel, restaurant, and has four different bars. The decor is elegantly restored. I counted 28 huge, and all different chandeliers in the restaurant, which was kind of Victorian pub style. We explored the building after dinner and found another couple celebrating their 32nd anniversary so chatted with them a bit. On the way home, we slowly toured some of Tacoma's downtown and marveled at all the changes that have taken place, new buildings, restored old buildings, Bill's old office building. A very nice evening. To top off our anniversary I made Bill his favorite apple pie and he sent me a bouquet of red carnations, my favorite florist flower.
BECCA - I'm glad you had a nice luncheon and got to meet new friends. Especially friends who give you fabric! Your family is probably right in suggesting you keep your car until you are settled into your new life. You may find you want more freedom than the shuttle can give you and your family's schedule can provide. There's always time to change your mind.
CAROL - I did enjoy the John Travolta commercial. I really like him. But the Binky dad still was my fave. Having suffered through the Binky years and the trauma of forgetting or, horror! losing Binky, I could identify! I was almost relieved when our third baby, Autumn, was a thumb sucker instead of a binky baby. We hardly ever lost her thumb! lol! We haven't had any 60* weather yet, but close. And no open windows here! I am so impatient to get our deck set up for summer living but know it's way too early yet.
LORI - your modern quilt is amazing!!! I love it! The special treatment you gave the borders is incredible. And just in case you need to know, my block was the one with the 5 overlapping circles. My own design.

JANA - we're happy to have you at the table no matter what time you slide into your chair!
VELDA - sorry your sandwiches weren't what you thought you were getting. You must not like mushrooms. We do, but if I didn't I sure wouldn't want them in my food, especially after being assured they wouldn't be! Our Costco sells meat sliced micro thin that makes great Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. The problem is it's Costco and there's enough in the package to serve 3 dozen people! We can only use so much, even if we freeze most of it in small amounts. We only buy it when we're expecting a crowd. I'm sure your pastor was very happy to receive a sweet surprise!
An interesting side story about mushrooms: Our friend, Betsy, (who passed away 2 days before Christmas) loved mushrooms. But she had double lung transplant 10 years ago and after that found she was suddenly allergic to one variety of mushrooms.
I will ask Bill when he gets home from his "Y" exercise class his preferences. But I'm thinking either hamburgers tonite or homemade split pea soup made with turkey kielbasa instead of ham. But those are the choices I'm going to give him.
What are your choices tonite?
