SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Sept 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Sep 04, 2022 7:17 am

Good morning,

Chilly morning here. No deck sitting. But from my living room where I'm sitting, I can look past the dining table and out the slider and SEE the deck, at least.

Yesterday, after Bill and I went for our blood draws, my sis and I went out for a leisurely day of girl shopping. We got a few things at other places but our big score was at the Goodwill. I got 20 yds (7 large cuts) of fabric for about $1.70/yd. Today I'll be washing that, along with sheets from our bed. That's my only plan for today, but I'm sure some kind of trouble will come along for me to get into.

TINA - my DBIL is also on the hunt for green chile. He means the canned pork green chile, which I find particularly nasty (read the ingredients. Or maybe you shouldn't!) . But he did get diced green chilies, which we put on our tacos last night. I thought you had A/C in all of your house now - part of the point of the solar panels. Sewing is hot work because of lights and iron.

BECCA - Do you have a walk-in shower and a shower chair? At one of our thrift shops outings during my sister's visit I bought a shower stool for $4. Bill thought I was nuts, but we've had two incidents where we needed one, so I figure we can hang it in the garage rafters and it will be there if/when we ever need one again. A new baby in your family! Is this a first for this couple? Are they sure it's not twins?!?

LORI - I've had ebelskivers! Do you have a pan to make them? Our old friend, Lois, loved them and made them in her younger years. Sorry they weren't at your street fair but beignets were a nice substitute.

CAROL - our fall is beginning here. Lots of leaves already down due to heat and lack of rain. But our temps are dropping now. 70's for next 10 days or so and I see 69* looming after that. An air conditioned mall sounds like a good place to hang out during the heat.

Unless someone here has a better plan (and no one ever does), I'm thinking we'll have orange chicken over white rice tonite. And I'll make a salad with my sister's fresh veggies she bought and left in my fridge. I might offer mac & cheese as a second choice. After our doctor visits this coming week, we probably won't be eating much pasta for a while so we better scarf it down while we can! :D

How is your dinner plan coming along?

Good morning everyone!
Mary. Sounds like you got some good deals yesterday!
We do have AC running through all the ducting in the house but in those 2 bedrooms you can barely barely feel it.
Is your brother in law looking for pork Chile Verde? I hope he realizes that it is super easy to make from scratch. I don't do canned chillies anymore, you probably don't want to know why.
Lori, one of my little brother's girlfriends made those once for us at Christmas, they were yummy! I think I still have the pan and her recipe.....I might have to try them again.
Becca, my mom had a walk-in shower put in, it worked out perfect for her! Dad loves it too!
Frankie, almost got bit by a rattlesnake yesterday! It struck at him but thankfully missed! Thankfully he had a shovel in his hand, the snake was no more real quick!
Supper will be pork chops and not sure what else. I'm going with Frankie here in a little bit to go to a ladies house so he can finish fixing her tractor.

Good morning!

Been busy iin the Batt Cave, keeping the pedal to the metal and the squirrels at bay! I have about 8 blocks to embroider and then I can assemble the quilt. It's really not very big, more a large wall hanging size. It will drape over my Windsor chair in the stair landing. Karlie likes to help me sew the blocks. I let her start the embroidery, but when the machine starts moving, it startles her so she is a bit leery. She has my ornament of a Singer Treadle machine and plays that she is sewing. She carefully cut out a very small pumpkin from a scrap of fabric that she pretends to sew. Karlie plays right next to me when I sew. I've had to hide all my scissors out of sight and reach. Karlie was cutting up things she shouldn't have and we were afraid of cutting her hair. She did give one of her Barbies a hair cut the other day.

Dinner- we did orange chicken and rice last night. I have baby back ribs thawed in the refrigerator, so they may appear today or tomorrow or Tuesday. All depends on the kids. I think they are heading out on a adventure exploring the area. If so, Michael and I will piece. A egg salad sandwich sounds good to me!

Mary - great find! It's odd to me to donate fabric, especially good quality. I need my fabric! LOL! When your weather cools, my weather is next in line.

Tina - your duct registers may need to be adjusted. How far one is open in one room to give the system a chance at pushing the air into the other rooms. My bedroom is the warmest in this house. It faces with big windows on the east and south, but that's oh so nice in the winter! Tell Frankie, thanks, a dead 9ne is the best! And we don't want anymore snake stories!

Time to get busy, ready for church,
Hugs,
Jana

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - I am glad to hear the temperatures are falling in your area. I hope they fall in ours very soon! We have had a very quiet day here. I have just been sitting most of the day. It is too hot to do anything.

Jana - Hope you put all those scissors away! I think I remember some of your other grands cutting hair.

Becca - I have a bench in my walk-in shower and a handheld shower. Guess I am ready for anything! Glad Marty is there to fix things for you.

Tina - Oh so glad to hear Frankie wasn't bit! That is very scary. We have a window air conditioner in the bedroom and only run it for a few hours at night. There are ceiling fans and floor fans to help during the day. We want to be cool enough to sleep at night.

Dinner will be Chicken, potatoes and salad. Nothing too exciting. I marinated the chicken.

Today I have been cutting out flying geese for a challenge quilt.

Carol
