SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Aug 25th
Good morning,
Can't believe Sept is looming! It's been a fast summer. and a hot one! Even for us.
Al & Tina spent yesterday and last night at their son's house in Seattle. They will be home late this afternoon. So we've had a little time to ourselves. Life won't be quite so hectic with just them here - we all blend in well together. Though it's still hard to find posting/sewing time. We're all going camping on Sunday for 4 nights and except for making the trailer bed, a small grocery run, and packing a bit more food, we're ready.
Yesterday I got laundry done, pulled some fabrics for a few small projects that I think I'll take for winter sewing, and made a plan for my next three quilts. Two will be the Nutcracker quilts. I sent Autumn my ideas and am waiting for her approval before I actually start cutting fabric. The third project will be a motorcycle quilt for my massage therapist who rides a Harley. He needs a new quilt. So, if time permits today, I might make some design sketches for that.
LORI - I was repotting a plant yesterday, too! Some kind of small (so far) succulent.
TINA - congratulations on your new little grandson! Love his name. And I'm so happy the flood waters are draining.
JANA - How was your Korean BBQ dish? Did it pass through quality control OK? And how was your roll in the cotton yesterday? I know how you feel! The mug rug I made a couple days ago was the first sewing I've done in nearly 2 weeks! But I have spent a few minutes fondling fabric!
I'm going to put a turkey breast in the crockpot for supper tonite. Mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, and rolls will complete our supper. My sis will be back tonite. Two days ago she picked a bunch of blackberries. I thought she wanted to wash them and put them in her trailer freezer. But no. She plopped them on my counter for ME to wash and then asked me to make another blackberry crisp. This I did and packed the extras for her for freezing. But then they left and we ended up eating the last half of the crisp ourselves. lol!
What's for supper at your house?

Good morning everyone!
Mary, your supper sounds amazing to me!
Our property has no water on it this morning after the county brought in countless loads of dirt and built a dike up on the other side of our road. We drove down yesterday to see where all its going. Some people put mobile homes in low farm lands and they will be flooded today or tomorrow probably. The water is running uphill in lots of places, that's how we got hit this time, very weird.
I'm not sure about supper yet, I need to talk to Dad and see how his mouth is and what suggestions here has for eating. He's supposed to eat sift foods for another 4 days at least.
I'm working on getting the post ready for Secret Santa this year! Just thought I'd let you all know

BECCA - happy happy anniversary!! 66! The years do fly by. I hope it's a special celebrational day for you.
TINA - I'm glad the water is off your property but I do feel for those downstream.
I just posted several photos for Sue of the quilts she has finished so far this year. It's like a beautiful quilt show all by herself!

Good afternoon!
First off - Happy Anniversary Becca - that is quite the accomplishment of 66 years of marrige! Enjoy the day and all the spoiling from your wonderful family.
Quiet around here today. I have laundry going and will assemble dinner in a few minutes. The Korean BBQ was very good. In fact, it was almost what Michael remembers from the little Cafe in his office building, where he ate. Even Karlie ate some of it. Tonight I am using the left over rice in my chicken and rice cassarole. Daniel has requested I leave out the water chestnuts, so I will.
Not much else here. Waiting to hear more stories from Sprinkles. I posted a couple in Sew ins this morning. Here's one from Gracie. She had the window seat and could see the wing - the flaps etc. Well, upon getting ready to land, they moved, making a change in sound and sight. She thought the plane breaking apart and had a bit of a melt down. She calmed down quickly and was OK on landing. Today is princess meeting day.
Mary - your camping trip will be a nice relaxing time with your family. The motorcycle quilt sounds delightful and the monkey wrench block - perfect!
Tina - congrats! His named is perfect! I didn't realize that you had so much water around you! We at times in the Concord house, dug trenches to divert the water away. Michael and the boys did this in the pouring down rain with shovels, by hand. Cudos to Frankie!
Well, time to switch loads, still a couple more to go
Hugs,
Jana

Becca - Happy Anniversary! Not many make it to 66 years - Congratulations!
Tina - Wow! Be careful what you wish for. I seem to recall you asking for rain and you sure did get it! Glad everything is green but hope no one gets washed away.
Jana - Hope you got lots of sewing in today. You will surely hear more stories when your GG come home. Glad all are having a good time.
Maryz - You are busy today with getting ready for a short trip. Where are you going?
All is well here today. It took all afternoon yesterday with a couple of young women learning to sew. They are visiting a very sick Aunt and spending the final days of a six-week trip. They are from Spain. They bought a skirt pattern and batiks at the Long Beach Quilt Show and I helped with the cutting of the pattern. We did make a partial sample in another fabric to see how it fit.
I have spent most of today chopping and cooking. I made some meat sauce that mostly will go in the freezer for later. We will also enjoy it for dinner tonight. I think I will make a salad to go with the pasta and meat sauce.
Hope all get a chance to sew!
Carol
