SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 18

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jul 18, 2022 6:49 am

Good morning,

Today is my Michael's 71st birthday. He was only 33 when he was killed. It's hard to imagine him at the age he would be today - the same age I am! (sometimes it's hard to imagine myself at this age!) And in 2 days it will be my Wilmer's birthday. (Sometimes he likes to go by his D&D name, "Wilmer, the Bold", from when he played Dungeons and Dragons with the kids. ) And it's hard to imagine him at 33! Life is funny.

Yesterday was groceries and Costco. We should own stock in Costco by now! But boy, have prices surged! And empty shelves are showing up here now, too. I also got my Calendar Swap quilt blocks together. Then I cut 5" squares from all my various holiday fabrics and will mix them up and sew them together for borders. I hope to get that done today. We are having Bill's exercise buddies from the "Y" tonite for campfire and brats so I'll be getting ready for that today, too.

TINA - glad you are happy with your new groomer. Sorry the prices are so much more than you are accustomed to, but they are still half what we pay for Mr. Scott. He will be going again Aug 12. He has to get pretty for his little sheltie cousin, Hank, who will be here Aug 15. Hank is half the size of Scottie but they pay just as much as we do for grooming. Those family reunions must have been exhausting in your heat! You stayed up past midnight? My night is half over by then! lol!

JANA - glad all your chicks are together again, the truck ran great, and the new Tahoe passes muster. It's good to be you these days! When does Daniel start his new job? And will he still work as a firefighter in UT? I'm laughing at the thought of Joseph wearing a skirt! lol!

CAROL - Yes, the Irish Chain is all finished, bound, and wrapped in Christmas paper. It didn't go all that fast - I think you just lost track of the days. Bill spent about 12 days just quilting it. But binding only took about 2 hours. Star Bright is on the frame now. So far Bill has made just one pass on that one. It's a much smaller quilt and the pattern is much quicker so this will be a faster project. Maybe. Bill does only one pass a day, usually.

If all went well, Irish's DD should be back in Reno by now. I hope we hear from her and get closure from this 'adventure' story!

You know my menu for tonite - 3 other couples coming for campfire and we'll grill Johnsonville brats. We have two kinds - Jalapeno & Cheddar and Better Cheddar. Others are bringing an appetizer, a dessert, and a fruit bowl. I'm making baked beans and a bowtie pasta caprese salad. We'll have all the possible fixin's one could think of including sauerkraut. And there will be plenty if any of you happen by!!

Good morning!

Well for a few more minutes. Home from the grocery run. Cha-ching! We will see how far this goes. This much would last Michael and me for more than a month, with more now eating here, we will see.

Daniel is unpacking all the stuff. It's from hockey sticks to breakfast! Everywhere!

I got squireled to Home Depot. Home now. Got only one fan. Nothing floated my boat for a replacement in my bedroom. Daniel got his shelving and I got some new flowers for my porch.

Dinner - a nice ribeye steak, fresh green beans and French fries.

The fish and I are still friends, Smokey, well, at least she's coming out of her room. She hears Daniel and comes running. Smokey is not pleased with a collar on either.

Ethan is here now and will make a batch of chocolate chip cookies to share with a friend of mine. This friend, who I am just getting to know better, is having a rough time. She lost both her parents during Covid. I know that cookies won't cure everything, but chocolate helps. It's just a start of doing little things to show her she's missed. And it teaches my little helpers about service.

So that's the haps here, oh, it hot, clouding up and muggy, and a thunderstorm is building.

Hugs,
Jana

Good Afternoon,

I had an eye appointment this morning. She had me do a Visual Field test and wants another in three months. She is happy with my eye pressure though, so staying on twice a day.

Maryz - Happy Birthday to Bill. July is a busy month for birthdays. Enjoy the party this evening.

Jana - I am sure things will settle down and you will all get into your routines, but I am also sure you are enjoying this time with Daniel and his family. Hope you find time to sew in your cool place. It is warm and humid here too with high clouds. This is the end of July. Let's hope the mountains are getting monsoons and the lightening sparks no fires. The drought map shows Utah almost all red. We need rain as well. Rarely do the monsoons make it to the coastal areas, but I still hope. :P

Dinner tonight will be Parmesan Chicken.

Carol

Hi everyone!
Hmmm I was here this morning and thought I posted, guess not🤔
Mary, Michael was so young 💔 tragic.
Groomers started charging crazy prices here during COVID, they got whatever they charged and just kept it that way. The norm for a cocker is $35, less if it's kept brushed and taken regularly and more if matted and not taken regularly. All dogs breeds have different needs but a cocker has to be bathed at minimum of once a month and brushed everyday or every few days depending....
Jana, I know how shopping like that goes, when we were watching the boys our grocery bill was more than double what is just for Frankie and me. Sounds like the kitty must have Daniel as he favorite❤️
Carol, glad your eyes are doing good. Chicken Parm yum!
I got my hair trimmed this morning..., it had only been about 8 months since the last time I went 🤷 I also got to help Chickie shop LOL, she was looking for some Peter Rabbit fabric for a baby quilt and I stopped at our local fabric shop and they had some, I told her it makes me happy to help others out spending their money, just ask Mary 🤣😂🤣😂
I also had to make some phone calls this morning and now Dad will finally get his oxygen that was ordered over a year ago.
I'll be doing chicken wings on the grill and zucchini in the air fryer for supper tonight.
Tina
