SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Feb 04, 2022 6:33 am

Good morning,

We are heading into a pretty nice weekend - Should be about 50* and partly sunny. I might go out and do some yardwork. All my bulbs are up several inches and some of my daffodils are even budded. I am ready to set up our deck for summer livin' but I think that will still have to wait for a while. Probably April.

I finished bringing in the last of all the stuff we hauled to TX in our fifth-wheel and put it all away. Then I restocked everything that is normally in there - paper goods, emergency clothing, etc. Today, I'll wash the bedding, remake the bed, dust, and sweep. Bill will wash the outside and we'll be ready to close the door and wait until the next outing (March 13-17). I also worked on my Feb lotto hearts. I was only going to make 4 but I noticed this morning that I printed off 5 paper piecing patterns so I guess I'm making five - all different fabrics.

CAROL - so did you have a good dr appt or not? Great to have stitches out but the doc wants you to be rechecked by another doc? what a bummer about the tire. That darn Ole Sol! Glad you got rescued. The sun was in my eyes once as I was backing out of my parking spot at the bank. I was only going about 3mph but I backed right into a car that was passing behind me but I couldn't see it. And turns out she had just got her car back from repair after someone else hit her! It happens. But I bet your nails look pretty!

TINA - I have to say I was a bit disappointed that you're only having one baby. It really is more efficient to have two at a time, don't you think? lol! So, for your baby quilt are you going with the approximate colors in the model or will you go more whimsical for baby? And as long as we're speaking of the baby, should we be wishing for a boy or a girl? You must have made a monster pot of soup to feed you and Frankie and Holly's family and still provide seconds for everyone! How is Jaz? Has everyone gone back to school yet?

LORI - how big are your elephant blocks? Glad you're having fun with the heart lotto, too.

VELDA - sometimes I find leftovers change taste after being frozen. Even chili. I'm not sure why. sometimes I think whatever it's next to in the freezer can affect taste - like onions. My dad could taste freezer burn after just 2 weeks so he never at frozen food. Funny - we raised cattle and sold beef but we always bought our own beef at Safeway. lol!

BECCA - it sounds like your day with Mark and Denise was one to remember! 🧡 I've never made coconut macaroons (not sure why because I love them!) but my mom made them all the time to mail to my brothers when they were in the Navy.

JANA - congrats to Karlie! I bet Daniel has plans but is playing his cards close to his chest until he knows everything is falling into place. But I'm thinking someone better start readying extra bedrooms just in case! I love that your family is all close together and helps each other.

I have an extra cooked pork chop and quite a bit of gravy leftover from last night. I also have cooked rice in the freezer so I think I can make something from that. And enough lettuce for one more salad. Perhaps today is shopping day. My list is growing. Costco, here we come!

What yummy aromas will be emanating from your kitchen tonite?

Good morning!
We are 9° 🥶🥶🥶🥶
Mary, I have some flowers up, I know hyacinths and I think crocus. I'll have to check and see what else but I'm waiting till it warms up. LOL.
I'm hoping they have a girl because this will be their last one and I only have 1 granddaughter and 3 grandsons LOL
I'll be going with 6 yellows, 6 oranges, 6 greens and 6 blues for the quilt. Problem is I don't have what I need so I'll be going shopping.
Nobody is at school yet, Holly has covid too so they're all still quarantined.
I only know how to make that big of a pot of soup LOL the kids usually help us eat it so I never worry. It makes 16 big bowls of soup. Frankie asks me if I think I have the pot full enough LOL it usually doesn't have but about ½" to spare from the top of my dutch oven.
Becca, I just make the macaroons on the coconut bag recipe. The macarons I make are the little sandwich cookies. I don't find either hard. The macarons use almond flour and take a little more time because after you put them in the parchment paper on the cookie sheets they have to dry for at least an hour before they get baked.
I'm working on the SBS quilt and hopefully the lotto blocks today..... it's too cold to paint and I think all the calling and errands are done.
I'm either making chile rellenos or chili soup for supper.

Mary, the blocks are 9x11.

I have to get going this morning. I have a Zoom class with Jane Sassman. I've loved her work for years.

I couldn't open earlier. I think the QIAD website had server problems.

I have been housecleaning and doing laundry, but am switching gears and marking the final border.

We may have leftover Autumn soup and a cheese sandwich.

Tina, I only know how to make a big pot of soup also.
I put some in quart jars and freeze it. 9* is really cold.

Jana, pink and grey elephants would be cute for a baby quilt.

The class was very different from anything I've ever done. It will be interesting to see how it goes. It's every Friday this month.

Dinner will be baked potatoes with chili.

Have a lovely evening.
