SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jan 09, 2022 4:42 am

Good morning,

It's 72* this morning at 0500 and pretty breezy. They are predicting 82* and thundershowers right about our outdoor happy hour. So it may get cancelled. And that's OK. We'll have another HH tomorrow. To be honest, we, along with our 2 couples of friends, get together about 3p for a short HH most days. Then we all go to our own places for our own suppers and evenings. I like that. I'm so not a late night person any longer.

Yesterday I got one palm tree finished in Starry Night and the second palm is cut out and pieces pinned. So that, and starting another block will be my day's plan. And laundry. This place is so huge that we'll have to use the truck to go do the wash. We'll also do the sheets and towels and then "redress" the bed. (Love that phase, Becca!)

VELDA - I could smell your turkey dinner from here! Winds must have drifted the delicious aroma straight south! lol! Just so you know, we figured out the 10-step! Yay! Found lessons on U-tube and it all came tumbling back into our brains. And we found we still have a little muscle memory left (very little!) even after 20 years. We used to dance about 4 nights a week between lessons, practices, performances, and just social dancing. We've had such a good time that Bill is thinking of rejoining the Eagles club just so we have a local place to go dance. Most Eagles have great floors.

TINA - how is Dad doing? Improving, I hope. I love Cary Grant, too. I think I remember a comedy TV series he had - he was a business exec, Mr. Sands, and had a secretary named Susie. My parents watched that show so my little sis and I played "office" and I set up my "desk" (a table leave across two chairs). I had my white plastic toy telephone and several papers to shuffle. And probably some crayons and coloring pages for office work. You brought back a fun memory for me! Thx! :D

BECCA - I hope Keith's wife will be on the mend shortly. They have four little ones, right? Like you said, hard for Mama to be sick! You are so right about strokes. My BFF (now age 71) had a stroke in 2005. She did recover, for the most part, but still has some lingering effects - her handwriting is now very small and cramped, and she tends to drag the foot on her affected side when she's really tired. She walks twice a day, a mile each walk, to keep limber.

JANA - I bet your cooking slump will end soon and you'll suddenly be filled with lots of ideas for yummy dishes to make. It's hard to cook for just two, especially when one of those two is sick. Glad you are finally getting some quality Batt time!

LORI - we are early risers. Even in this time zone we're up between 4:30 and 5:00. I really try to beat the crowds and get things done early - like grocery shopping. I'll be making chicken noodle soup today, too.

CAROL - I love that you are so into quilting, guilds, etc. It's people like you who keep this wonderful art going across the miles for the rest of us!

Later this morning I'll get my crock pot of soup going. We'll have it tonite and then I'll freeze any leftover. I was thinking of making Red Lobster biscuits, too, but it's supposed to be 82* today and I don't think I want to use the oven. It really heats up the trailer. I wonder if RL biscuits would cook in the soup like dumplings . . .

How's your supper plan coming along?

Good morning!
Mary, we're 27° with a high of 58° your biscuits could cook here no problem LOL
Dad is about the same, it's slow going with him, I hope each day will be a little better for him and before he knows it he'll be back to his normal self.
Hmmmmmm, I don't remember Cary Grant having a tv series, I'll have to go see if I can find out about it.
I'll be doing laundry with you today too and the bedclothes and redressing the bed. I like redress too 😊
I think I'll make pork chops tonight and either scalloped potatoes or mac and cheese and a veggie.

Mary, early for me is 0900. lol I usually don't leave the house before 1000. I'm not an early bird. The only reason I'm up at 0700, is to feed the dogs.

Tina, I made a good individual scalloped potato recipe last month. You make it in a cup cake pan. They were perfect for reheating as well. Mac and Cheese sounds good as well.

I didn't get any sewing done yesterday. I took an allergy pill and it zapped what little energy I had left after running around and making dinner. So today is definitely a sew day. We are headed to the park this morning with the boys, then home to sew for me.

Dinner will be ......I don't know yet. Maybe left over soup and corn bread.

Have a lovely day.
