I cant' believe how fast the holidays have gotten here! Seems like Mary Q was just pulling SS names (last August!) and BOOM! It's suddenly Christmas! I hope everyone is ready. and if you're not just think of it as extending the fun of the celebration!
Yesterday I finished making the comfort tops. Whew! And I got a small start on my little 4" stars. I only made 3 but it was enough for one day. I have 60 finished stars at home. My pattern calls for 225 but I think I'll make the quilt smaller than the pattern calls for (67x67). Then Bill suggested we go shopping at the Galleria, a HUGE outdoor mall about 10 miles away through monster traffic. He must REALLY be bored. Maybe I need to break more things for him to fix. So off we went to shop for Autumn's January birthday. We wanted Jessica McClintock perfume, her signature scent. We found the Galleria and even found a place to put our 1-ton Dodge pick-up in their crowded parking lot. Then we walked and walked past and through dozens of stores and found no one carried it! So we stopped on the sidewalk and in 5 minutes had it ordered from Amazon. Then we drove home, shopping done.
Today is quilting lesson day for Sammy at Autumn's house. We'll see how this goes. I did teach her to make jammie pants a few years ago - how to use a pattern, etc. The biggest challenge will be getting her to focus, even though she says she really wants to learn to quilt and has requested this lesson. I'm taking my own machine because I doubt Autumn's has seen the light of day since the last lesson! She actually likes sewing but with a full-time-plus job, the pandemic, a flood in her library (from last winter's big freeze here in TX), a divorce, moving, a new romance, and lengthy parental visits, she has been one busy girl these past couple years.
TINA - congratulations on finishing all that sewing!! Are those quilts under the tree or hidden in the back of a closet somewhere until Christmas? I know little peekers like to, well - peek!
BECCA - we didn't buy any clothes. Even though it's warm down here (by our PNW standards) it's still winter and the stores are full of winter clothes. No shorts to be had. So we will make do with what we brought. I have a strappy sun dress that I think I'll wear on Christmas (85* is forecast). We'll be out on Aut's shaded deck. Glad you found a fruit cake for CA. I like fruit cake, too. I remember using it for my groom's cake (favors) at my wedding - almost 51 yrs ago.
JANA - Making cookies with your DGD was a lot of fun, I'm sure. Making good memories is the best! crossing fingers for Aaron's new job! They would be negligent not to hire him! We always had to adjust Christmas, too. For a few years, the kids' dad (MY Michael) worked at the women's prison (just 1 mile down the road from where I live now), and he always had to work on Christmas. And as a nurse, my schedule was always in the air. Plus we had to fit in the in-laws and the out-laws. It was always a dance. Did you get that tote finished?
LORI - lucky neighbors!! Add snickerdoodles and you have the trifecta of the three most purrfect cookies!
CAROL - I love having desserts in the freezer, all ready to go, you know, in case of a sweet tooth emergency! I always make a double batch of cookies and freeze some in the garage freezer. But I've found when I go to get them, they are nearly gone! I should never have told You-Know-Who they were there! lol!
Tonite's supper is going to be grilled pork chops, dressing, and salad. I have 1-cup packages of gravy so we'll also have that over the chops and the dressing. I feel like I might have lost a pound on this trip and we for sure can't have me wasting away!

What's your supper plan for this Christmas Eve Eve?
