SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Dec 21

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 21, 2021 4:57 am

Good morning!

We are warming up a bit here. Makes our morning walks a bit more comfy.

Yesterday I kitted up a couple of small projects for my quilting lesson on Thursday with Sammy. I confess I feel kind of silly trying to teach her anything. She is almost 17 and nearly 6 feet tall. I'm not quite 5 feet. I feel like I need to stand on a stool to get my lesson across. Also, she is EXTREMELY chatty. It's hard to keep her focused and break in on her running monologue to show her anything. But she is very artistic and interested in sewing clothes and making quilts. She wants to learn but first order of business will be to settle her down. Last week she wanted a dance lesson and she was dancing with Bill. She is even about 3 inches taller than he is!

Today's plan is more sewing for me. I hope to finish up my current project by tomorrow. Then I can get out my Star Bright - 4" stars in 30's fabrics with WOW background.

CAROL - so sorry about the loss of your quilting friend. My brother, Jim, had Parkinson's, too, and it was a terrible journey for him for 17 years. I pray one day they find a cure. I didn't know your sister broke her hip. Is this the same sister that was in the hospital not so long ago?

JANA - are you still making towels?

VELDA - how are you going to quilt your DP?

BECCA - sounds like you are all ready for your Christmas celebration!

MARY ROSE - I hope you can fit it all in! There is simply no rearranging my sewing room any more. It's only 10x10 and I have so much sewing stuff. I have weeded it all out many times but still have very little wiggle room. lol! Plus, I share it with the cat and he likes to move his space around now and then, too.

LORI - your au gratin potato stacks sound delicious! Two of my favorite food groups - potatoes and cheese! How did you fix your zucchini? Zucchini and beets are the only two veggies I don't really care for.

Tonite we're having lasagna. Got to fix it before the weather turns hot again. The oven really heats up the trailer.

Hello,

Maryz - Sammy sounds like a challenge to teach! Have fun sewing today.

Yes, it is the sister that was in the hospital recently. She has been in and out with various things for the past year. I visited yesterday; I had not seen her in two years. I took her soup and candy. I swept and mopped her kitchen floor. She needs to hire a housekeeper. Her daughter had put up the Christmas tree without ornaments and it will remain that way. She cannot bend over.

Jana - I agree with Maryz. You are very fortunate to have your family so close and your house filled with love.

Tina - Hope you are finishing all your sewing and cooking before your Dad's doctor appointment.

Becca - The apple bread sounds really good. Your DG sounds very talented.

Today I need to go grocery shopping. I would like to make oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip cookies. I do not intend to make any others. We have a lot of candy! I don't think I will make a pie for Christmas. We do not need any more sweets, although I mentioned cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast and DH was all for it. lol Today's dinner will be chicken something. I would like to make chicken and rice but we will see if I change my mind.

Enjoy some sewing today!
Carol

Good Morning. Busy day here. I am anxious to get back to my DP quilt. How am I going to quilt?? Haven't decided that just yet. Since it is not a full size quilt, I may do a simple straight stitch machine quilting.
Got all my stuff home to make BBQ and "Tator salad" to take to our son's house. Also making an apple salad with Kool Whip. Will make that the day we go, after we arrive, so I can use his kitchen and big bowl. Won't take long the put that together.
Our son will buy the buns so they will be nice and fresh.
After groceries today, and my bible study, I made a couple extra cups of coffee. Then later I have a gift box of cookies to take to my hairdresser. Would have delivered yesterday, but found the shop is not open on Mondays. Need to stop by eye doctor, since they mentioned that I may need to have the lens remove on the right side of my glasses. I have been so reluctant, but I am struggling with this difference. I use my readers for sewing. Then put my glasses back on. It bothers me so much with the change. Hard to explain. I know I will get new glasses when my second eye gets healed, but that's going to be a couple of weeks after the left eye surgery on Jan 14. Probably won't happen until after Feb 1.

I shared a picture of my mother's recipe for Peanut Blossoms over in Sew In. If anyone is curious, you can check it out.
Ok, better drink that coffee before it gets too cold.
Mary, lasagna sounds so good. I am going to plan that after the Christmas get together. Haven't made spaghetti for a while too. Some nice garlic bread always goes with both.
Tonight is the rest of my creamed turkey. We are eating out so often, that I am getting lazy with my meal planning. LOL
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Happy winter solstice everyone. Shortest day of the year is here. Now the days will start to get longer again. Yay!

Mary, I put my Zucchini in foil with olive oil and herbs then put it on the grill while the
chicken is cooking. Comes out perfect, and no clean up. A win/win. I don't do beets ever. Yuk!

Carol, I'm going to make cookies today too.

Vel, my FIL had that problem with his eyes too. I would think they should adjust your glasses when they do the surgery.

We'll be going to late lunch today. Probably Mexican.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

No, don't short me on my day! I need all the time that I can get! This elf is working hard to get done!

I hav been doing up the last 4 towels that I have. They are now done and the embroidery module is being put away for awhile. All I have left is to actually sew the tote bag together. The prep work - fusing all the pieces parts takes the most time. I cut it out and fused while the embroidery was running. Two projects at once - pretty good for my old brain - as far as I can tell, no mistakes!

Dinner will be out - we have to go and get some of Michael's prescriptions that are refills. So since I am out, so dinner will be too.

Mary - I too kept putting your student in the younger catagory. Guess that is because that where my grands are. Teenage girls are so fun - get them started talking and they are never quiet! Just like my activity day girls and I had 10 or so doing that!

Tina - all the fun will be at your house with all the cooking that will be going on! I am going to do cookies with Emma on Thursday.

Vel - that quilt is coming fast! I once learned in a class that you pick out the borders and the quilting before you even start the piecing. This was a double wedding ring class that I took. To say the least, that quilt never got made! I may try again - someday, when I have nothing left to do. LOL!

Becca - your house will be stocked with lots of goodies with Denise coming.

Carol - that was a sweet gift you gave your sister, doing her floors. I know that it was well appreciated!

Lori - we do zucchini on the grill here too - a little olive oil, salt, pepper and parm cheese.

Well my Aaron finally finished and graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Emergency Management. What else for that boy! LOL! It was a long road, as Aaron and school never got along. He finished high school with his GED, but now has the college degree to show on his resumes! We are so proud of him. Now Sarah and I will plan a party to celebrate after the first of the year. We will surprise him. Sarah is next up to finish her degree in a little while.

I am supposed to be posting all the charges and checks in Quicken, but I am here playing instead. Better get it done or old Scrooge will get grumpy.

Hugs,
Jana
