SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Nov 9

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Nov 09, 2021 4:37 am

Good morning,

Another early start on my day here. Yaawnnn . ... We are 45* and light rain. Brrr... Not looking forward to my walk later on.

Yesterday I got binding on my Sew-Along quilt, then added it to my donation pile and delivered them to my friend whose DD works at the local nursing home. They will be gifts for residents at Christmas. Then we went to Port Orchard to refill 5 or 6 propane tanks. I got my laundry done and a good start on my 14"x22" mountain block. Today I will be doing the bed sheets and working some more on that block. It's not as difficult as I'd expected, but it's just so much larger than all the other blocks.

LORI - how goes the kitchen upheaval? You are making me itchy to do my kitchen again. I need to get down the dusty things and either get rid of them or move them to where I can at least reach them with the step stool. I have a beautiful set of Noritake china I haven't used in years. I got it at Goodwill for $29 and looked it up on line. It's worth almost $1,000! But who uses china anymore??

JANA - Oh, I'm so happy for Sarah!! Thanksgiving, here she comes!! Though this good news begs the question, if it's not food allergies, what was causing all her symptoms? Sorry about your iron delivery. I'm still waiting on MY iron that I ordered in March, 2020! And a comforter from Jan, 2020! They were coming UPS, I believe. Our UPS store mgr confided we would be shocked if we knew how many packages 'disappear' in transit. Is Michael good enough yet that you can leave him upstairs for short periods of time while you go play downstairs?

VELDA - that's odd about the damp package. Do you have dewy nights? Perhaps it was lost in the bushes or delivered to a neighbor? Sprinkler? I wish packages had little cameras attached so we could see where they go.

BECCA - what joyful times at your house with the twins! Is this the first time they've visited you?

CAROL - your printer seemed to go the route our Dell computer went when they were trying to return it to us after a repair. They took 2 months to repair it and 1 month to ship it to us. We were in TX last year.
Actually, it went to our friends' in south TX so we finally just sent them money and they mailed it to us. Fed Ex couldn't seem to generate a shipping label to send to our friends to forward it on to us. We finally gave up. And it's my grandson who is getting the LOTR quilt, not my nephew. I love my nephews, but not enough to make THIS quilt!

I think we'll have tamales tonite with refried beans and salad on the side.

What are you thinking of?

But I guess like Velda it’s boring so what’s it matter Our life here is most like Janas SDST
Jana I’m sure glad Sarah can now eat A lot of foods give me sneezing fits but that’s a lot better than what it does to our DGS which passes out & has almost died 4 times
Maybe your Thanksgiving can be had in some fashion Our last one here was way too
Much for CA That’s with them all here Now that it is up to 50 Therez no way I can have them here Our house isn’t big enough for them We will have 10 this time

Hi everyone. Crazy day here. Slept late to start. Woke up groggy! Then off to get groceries. Now a second cup of coffee ☕. Then post office... I will report what they tell me later.
After that, we are on deck to help our Methodist church that house local food pantry. We are part of a group from our church that helps in load trucks. The trucks timing isn't exact, so they text us when they hear it's coming early. Supposed to arrive about 1pm.
I want to stop by our thrift store on the way back home. I have a donation and I want to look for slacks.
Then I want to looked for I-Spy suitable fabric: Teresa switched gears on Lotto, trying to drum 🥁🥁🥁 up some interest. She's a great hostess, and I feel sorry for her when she tries to find an easy pattern, then gets no takers.
I have to Google " I-Spy" and get some suggestions.
Supper tonight is soup from leftovers in freezer.
Dancing was great fun. They are having a special New Years Eve Dance. We will probably go, if weather is ok.
Have a great day!
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Good morning from a sunny, getting warmer, Sw. Pa...Finally, I'm able to post, have been able to read the posts on my tablet but wasn't able to get on the computer or tablet to post..Never did figure out the problem..I'm getting too old to be playing with this old computer, maybe Santa will bring me a new one....

Haven't really been up to anything exciting...We're still cleaning out the "hoarder house" but I do think there is an end in sight...Getting close to turning it over to the estate sale person, thank goodness... Still have been playing cards every week and staying out half the night, lol....We also did take another trip to camp, just to check on the leaves and had a very good time...Now with hunting season starting, we'll let the men take over and we'll stay away until spring....
Have been trying to catch up on my projects and seem to be running out of time, not sure if I'll get my stockings cross stitched in time for Christmas...Our trip is fast approaching and I am getting excited...Kathy keeps telling me, I don't need a big suitcase but how am I supposed to bring stuff home if I just have a little one, right? She is having all her Christmas gifts sent here because 2 days after they get back from Hawaii, they'll be on their way east...Christmas will be at her oldest daughter's this year but they'll be staying with me before and after we travel east....
So glad to be able to keep up with all of you and see you all are doing well....Hopefully, I'll be able to be wave that magic wand and have this machine working and be back soon.....

Not sure what today might bring...My "cat" friend is away and I do need to spend some time with her fur babies and might have to pick up some groceries....For my dinner, whatever falls out of the fridge, which won't be much......Maybe Ruby will have other ideas.....

You all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating....................

Good morning!

Michael is still improving. In fact getting grouchy, a good thing! LOL! He is fussing about a letter that a insurance we carry, not being here. It's a long term health, for nursing home or assisted living that he has only 9n him. They wouldn't cover me. Well, when we got it, more than 20 years ago, they gave us papers, stating it was lifetime care and that the rate would not go up, period! It is through our retirement from Calpers, the state of California company. Well they lied! And have raised the rates continually for many years and changed the coverages too. I am for getting rid of this useless policy and just putting that ton of money in a account to earn money. Michael is not giving up yet, but this letter is a new tier of coverage and a new rate. There is even a class action lawsuit against the company, but you know how those things go! OK, no more soapbox. Maybe I will prevail, I sure hope! Oh we are unsure if they will even pay here for care.

Tomorrow Aaron will come and stay with Michael, so I can go grocery shopping. Then he will haul it in the house and take down what goes to that pantry. He is such a good boy! :) So dinner is what falls out of the freezer. Most likely chicken and a rice pilaf. I may be naughty and make a couple of individual lemon meringue pies today. I have some small pie dishes to do that.

Cutting and sewing the sashing today. But first I need to cut Michael's hair. He looks a little like a absent minded professor that stuck his finger in a light socket. The hair goes every which way.

Mary - you were busy! That center block will be done in no time today. The price of fuel is getting out of hand. Good to have a supply now.

Irish - been missing you. Glad things are going well. There are folded suitcases, like a duffle bag, that you could put folded in your main suitcase, and then pop it out when you need it for all the goodies you find.

Vel - your church is very glad you moved there! You are such a great volunteer!

Becca - you still will have a large group for Thanksgiving. All the kids houses are big enough for all of us, as well as mine. The only tight 9ne is Aaron's, as it is a townhome.

Sarah's food episode is partially being attributed to her gall bladder surgery last year. With her autoimmune system problem, the body may not have accumulated to it not being there, causing what was thought to be allergies. She went out last night and got a hamburger with sauce for her first treat! She is going slow at re- introducing foods. There still may be a lactose intolerance, but a pill can help that.

So my book for the day needs to close, I have bored y'all enough,
Hugs,
Jana

Jana, our friends got that insurance from Calpers and yes is has gone up dramatically in the last few years. Bill has Calpers retirement. No, we are not doing the carriage thing. We actually go to the wineries because they have really good food. We have lunch at one, and then dessert at another.

Irish, good to hear from you. Furry baby friends are the best.

Vel, I thought the house block was easy. People need simple clear instructions from the beginning, otherwise they pass it by. Hopefully she'll get the houses going another time.

Mary, I got one cupboard done yesterday and the outside of the fridge. I also pulled the fridge out and cleaned behind it. It wasn't that dirty since I do it every couple month. Today is the inside of the fridge.
I need to take the shelves out and give it a really good clean.

The boys have been walked. I even got my hairs cut this morning. Now on to the fridge.

We'll be having our late lunch today. I have my guild meeting tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Lori, yes, the little house block was easy. I was looking forward to it. She says, she will bring house block out again. I thought about the Song: " Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go"....
Hope more person's will join with the cut and mail charms idea. I know I am going to join.

If I would win, I would put together like a window pane.
HUGS, 💕 Vel
