SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Oct 13

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Oct 13, 2021 7:11 am

Good morning!
Today my DGS, Drew, of LOTR request fame, turns 28. So hard to believe. Seems like I was just 28! I'm sure we can all say the same thing.

Yesterday was all about cleaning and purging my craft cabinet. It has 6 shelves and 5 are now empty! Hooray! I still have some more things to clean out but the bulk of it is done. I will be going through my fancy papers, card stock, and stickers next and then I'll be done with that job. Whew! I was going to go through Christmas stuff, too, this year, but now that we've decided to spend Christmas in Texas, we won't be getting all that stuff out - so that will be a different year's project. My parents' Christmas fit in one cardboard box. But somehow I now have about 10 totes full, in addition to Christmas dishes, stemware, cookie jars, and linens tucked away in the quilting room. My large Nativity set that I made in ceramics back in 1970 fills a large tote all by itself.

Anyhoo, on to today! After my walk, comes chiropractor, then early lunch with my cousin at Applebees. I will be home about 1pm and back to work on AK quilt. I'm using my old Bernie, "Stitch" now as "Chip" is off this morning for an extended stay at the Bernie-Spa.

Fur-kids had check-ups and shots yesterday. Foxy is 18# and fat enough, says the doc. No surprise there. Scottie, however, has two masses and they did needle biopsies. We're waiting on results. Snickers had a large fatty lipoma on his rump so I'm praying that's all it is with Scott. But he has lost 3# for no good reason, so that worries me some.

Interesting times with Vicki lately. Almost every day now she is out in the middle of the road waving her big stick at cars, forcing them to swerve around her or even stop. Monday, cops were involved and strangers who finally got her walked back down her driveway, then came over to Bill, who was outside at the time, and asked if we knew her and if she really lived in 'that house'. Yes and yes. Yesterday more strangers found her out on the road and also walked her in. Vicki invited the wife in and she was there about a half hour. They came over and talked to us afterward, asking what they can do to help. Vicki told them wild untrue tales of her family, past friends, law enforcement, and us. As weird as Vicki has gotten in recent years, I still find it odd that she will invite strangers in, but won't answer the door for social services and chases away the Safeway delivery person with her walking stick and cursewords. This woman said she saw large burned places on the counter and the floor. We gave her the APS number to call or text a report on that. She was going to include pictures she took. There is finally a worker at APS who is truly concerned, though legally her hands are tied until something dire happens. They are compiling a thick file.

CAROL - congratulations on losing some weight - and for having restaurant fortitude! I'm going to try to channel you today when I go to lunch. No french fries! I'm going to try to have a salad. Will report my success on that, or lack thereof, tomorrow. :D

VELDA - that's so nice to hear your son has a sweet lady friend! Too bad she lives so far away but you really have to admire her for caring so much for her dad. You just can't do that from a great distance. Bless them both. We have a friend here who's lady love lives in Chicago and stays there for the exact same reason, though she would love to move here. Lots of flying back and forth with those two. They are both retired. How goes it with Project Diaper?

BECCA - sorry to hear you have a UTI. They can be pretty painful. Be well soon. Your roasted potatoes and onions sound rather delicious. Is your son planning to get married soon? I think you said he and Esther were engaged.

JANA - so glad to hear your Michael is making progress even if it's baby steps - literally. Our house phone (we have 3 extensions) is also an intercom system. Plus if Bill is outside or in the shop, we just use our cell phones if one of us needs the other. But if that doesn't work at your house, I guess it's hand-work for you! Could one of the boys carry your machine upstairs? I bet if you took over Michael's desk for sewing, he'd recover pretty fast!

TINA - that's a great idea to borrow one the other boys to spend the night with Matthew. A bummer that the concert got so messed up. At least it's a pretty drive between Cruces and Albq. for the kids to go through. I assume they will be spending the night in Albq? I feel for your BIL. Going through things like that is exhausting, as much from the emotional drain as the physical work. Glad you were there for him.

We have a little bit of the pork roast left - enough for one person. So Bill is going to have that and I'm going to have a poached egg on toast. At least that's the plan right now. One of these days I'm going to have to go to the store, but I'm trying to use up all we have first. So meals might be getting a little bit weird here soon.

I hope your supper isn't too weird!

Good Morning,

This morning after my walk I will get a little housework done then I have a Zoom meeting this afternoon. Not much going on these days. I am counting down to November 1st retirement for my DH. He is going into work everyday and bringing boxes of books home with him. I think he is almost finished with the books, however he took a picture of the cat into work. He has pictures of me too so he will have to bring home all of the pictures.

Guess I did not say, but I have lost 24 pounds since the end of April. I have a physical at the end of the month and my goal was 30 pounds. I am not going to quite make it, but will be close.

Maryz - I think I too should get rid of some scrapbook stuff. I never really got into it, but have a tote full!
Maybe I should get rid of the contents and keep the tote?? I am thinking about it.

Tina - I think that is a great idea "borrowing Easton". I remember staying at my Grandmother's house when I was 5 and 6 years old. I woke up and didn't know where I was. I soon realized I was at Grandma's house. She died when I was 7-1/2 years old, so I am glad I have those memories.

Becca - Sorry you have a UTI. Sounds like you got all your errands done with the trip to town. We had Pork Chops a few days ago, I like them too!

Jana - Glad Michael is feeling better every day. It will take time.

Vel - I imagine the large size diaper would take a larger pad.

Last night I made a sheet pan dinner with the chicken so tonight will be marinated grilled chicken.

Good morning!

Another quiet day here. The kids are getting ready to leave for Disneyland. Matt is leaving tomorrow and Sarah on Friday. The grands are excited. With 6 together, they will have lots of fun in the park. Ethan earned his money so he can build the Droid he wants. He worked hard to earn it.

Matt had to rent a vehicle for their trip. They have a order in with a deposit for a new diesel Suburban, but the dealer can't get the diesels. Matt has been waiting for about 6 months so far. His old minivan is ready for the junkyard, falling apart. In fact, they have been using our Solara as a second vehicle for awhile.

As to bringing up my sewing machine, it would be a major under taking- the machine, my cutter, my mat, rulers, fabric, just to many toys needed to be practical.

Tina - we borrow grands around here all the time! Ethan is always here and loves to play with Gracie and Lila. I have plenty to share!

Well, need to get some food in Michael.

Hugs,
Jana

Nothing thought of yet for tonight's meal. Might do turkey bacon and scrambled eggs. I have a few potatoes left from last night. ???
Need to get back to my sewing machine. I want to get something accomplished today.
OMG! I have been wondering about Vicki.
Nothing ever seems to happen to get her out of that house. They will delay until she hurts herself or somebody else. Can't believe how strangers are brave enough to go into her home. How did she ever allow them to take pictures even ??
The picture I have in my head of the inside of that house is horrible!! It's a shame that her family has no power to step in and do something to help her. Where is the sense of it all. All the legal mumbo jumbo!! Awful!!!!
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Well we are back in the emergency room after a ride in the ambulance. O2 number would not stay above 85. So Michael is being admitted, again up to SLC hospital. No time frame as to how long. Here in the emergency room, they are using 6 litres per minute of O2 and his number is great - 98, but take off the mask and the number drops to low 80s.
So y'all know where I will be!

Kate came over and did the assessment while we waited for fire to arrive - in style - lights flashing! The whole Ward knows now too. They are calling Sarah to make sure we are taken care of.

Hugs,
Me!

I'm sliding into my chair just before bedtime.
Jana, prayers that Micheal gets his oxygen up and it stays up. 🙏🙏
Mary, happy birthday to Drew!
I hope Scotty is ok and Foxy might need the kitty food diet one.
Oh goodness, surely APS wil pay attention to a stranger with pics 🤞
Carol, congratulations on your weightloss! Woohoo, that's so awesome!
Velda, I bet it's worse than what we can imagine. How heartbreaking huh.
Becca, I hope your AG can get that billing mess under control, see they're doing it on purpose, grrrrrr makes me mad.
I vacuumed and cleaned for about 7 hours today, trimmed back plants and put cuttings in vases to get more starts....I like full plants. I washed and vacuumed plants too. I even washed a couple windows! I was so exhausted that I wasn't sure I could stand up to cook supper. Maybe it was me being tired but my spaghetti tasted the best I've ever made! LOL
Frankie cleaned the kitchen for me 🥰❤ Jazmyne was here because she didn't have school today so she dusted for me and helped me move things out and helped me with the plants. She even pulled out all my totes in my sewing room ❤❤ so I could vacuum really good again in there..... it wasn't bad at all which really made me happy that all that work we did in redoing the room really paid off in keeping it clean and dirt out 🥰
Well I gotta feed my kitties their bite of canned food, take a bath and hopefully sleep this off so I can do things tomorrow 😁

Note to Jana......So sorry to hear that Michael is back in the hosp. Hope they can keep the O2 levels up where they should be. Prayers for Michael and you too and all your family. You sure have all been thru so much lately. Hugs across the miles, prayers will continue for quick healing.
********************************************************************************
Note to the rest of you,

Prayers too for all those on here who are ill or have family members they are caring for. Praying that God will bring healing and comfort and rest to all who need it.

May God also bring hope for tomorrow, peace and strength for each day, and patience and rest for those doing the caregiving as well, It is not easy to watch a loved one , when they are stressed out by medical problems, and feel so helpless sometimes to just wait by their side. But God and the angels are watching over all of you. Keep looking up, and never lose faith.

God bless all on here each day. I often read but seldom post since my own DH is not doing well these days.
Caregiving is never easy but we do it out of love. Take care, dear friends.
