SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 18

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Aug 18, 2021 6:35 am

Good morning,

It's only 55* this morning, but still fine for deck sitting so that's where I am with all y'all and my coffee. And my cat. I took my shower early because I have two early appts this morning - chiro and eye right after and it takes my hair a few hours to dry. When I get home, I'll be getting into the pickle business. Dills and bread & butter. I'll be using wide mouth quarts because I have 28 wide mouth lids and only 5 regular. And can't find any more lids. I could order some I guess but they wouldn't get here in time.

Yesterday I finished making all the blocks for my Spell Dancer quilt. Whew! 78 blocks in all - various patterns and sizes. Now to assemble it, which will take about a week. But I'll be finishing up my Halloween swap blocks first before I get back to the quilt.

Our Boondockers for tonite had to cancel - their RV is in for repairs. But we still have another couple booked for Thurs & Fri and yet another couple asking for Saturday night. We may become much busier than we'd anticipated . . .

We really enjoyed our evening with Bill's friends from exercise class. We are all so different yet click well together. Supper was BBQ'd ribs - tasty, but I always think of ribs as more of an activity rather than a meal. So much effort for so little reward.

TINA - How is your aunt doing? And Iris? I hope I can remember to talk to our vet about Parvo when our kids go in for their shots and exams in Oct. They are immunized but I know it's more prevalent in some areas than others. Those pictures are so cute! Especially the one of her as a puppy looking over Kevin's shoulder.

JANA - hope you found everything you needed at Joann's. a year or two ago we ordered a pack of 100 regular sewing machine needles and I'm slowly working my way through it. I do have specialty needles in the smaller 5-paks. What book did you order?

BECCA - Was the storm you had Fred? And Grace is coming up soon - will that hit you? Hard to keep track here on our coast. What did CA have done at the dentist? Bill's mouth is good now. He was still a little sore yesterday. He goes back after 4 months for the next step in his implant. I didn't realize your family had in-laws so close to me. Oly is about 45 miles.

I think we'll grill chicken tonite. We have potato salad leftover from last night that I took to our friends. Just enough for two. And I'll add a green salad. I think I'll be tired after a day in the kitchen doing pickles. So this will be a no-cook (for me!) meal. :D

How's things looking in your kitchen?

Good morning!
Mary, my aunt is barely holding her own. I've been praying so hard and asking everyone to pray for her.
Iris had to go back to the vet today for more IV's and meds, they're trying to get her to eat but so far nothing is tempting her 💔 I told Kevin that she wants a steak from Texas Roadhouse. Parvo is soooooo contagious and can spread so fast and is so deadly. They have to keep their other dog; Calla away from Iris for a month and poor Calla is so sad to not have her partner in crime. Thankfully Calla didn't get it but still possibly could even though she's vaccinated too.
I'm glad you enjoyed your evening. I was surprised that Bill went to eat ribs so soon after his dental procedure.
Jana, did you get your needles? Did you find anything else?
Becca, wow you got a lot of rain!
My day yesterday didn't go as planned..... I'm going to quit planning! Or at least quit saying my mental notes plans LOL
I'm thinking carne asada tacos for supper tonight.

Good afternoon!

Still raining here. Should say bucketing - more like it! More to come! Good thing! Our reservoirs are so empty, but filling them a little at a time might be easier on the rest of us. We have had so much smoke here in the valley, that is seems like all those particulates are acting like cloud seeding making a lot of water fall here. Another good thing!

Not much more going on here. Dinner will be that new recipe for creamy chicken and noodles I found. Heading down to the Batt Cave to play and sew. My Giants are playing this afternoon, so will turn the TV towards my sewing area and sew at the same time.

Need to scoot,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana
