SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Aug 17

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 17, 2021 6:26 am

Good morning,

I never did the downstairs uglies. I did look around, assess the dust, and decided it wasn't "ripe" yet. I dropped Bill off at his dental appt, got the mail, and stopped by the green grocer to order a box of cucumbers which are supposed to come in today. So making pickles is in my near future. Not sure if I'll do bread & butter or dill. Maybe both! The rest of the day I spent rolling around in Halloween fabrics. Working on swap blocks and SD.

JANA - I keep waiting to hear that Daniel has been called out to the fire lines. I think there are enough fires to go around for all the firefighters. I think I forgot to mention I liked your idea of an Anniversary Waltz quilt for our Valentine anniversary! Brilliant! But I don't think it's happening this year. Though this year is our 30th . . . . Sort of a marker year. Hmmm..... And we do love to waltz . . . . I might have to reconsider. . . .

IRiSH - Been hearing a lot of rumbling coming from the east - must be from all the celebrating going on yesterday! Hope your day was a good one! Bill just rebuilt our deck stairway from that non-wood lumber and our friend, Tex, had a huge deck built of similar stuff. Looks like wood but I believe it is more durable.

BECCA - both our hubbies had dental appts yesterday. We ended up with minestrone soup here and I "beefed it up" with dabs of leftovers from the fridge - garbanzo beans, sliced kielbasa, and sun dried tomatoes. I was on the right track with the twins' birthday - I got August right! And I was thinking it was the 22nd, but it was the 2nd. I was so close!

LORI - how are things in your kitchen?

TINA - Bill sold some stuff on the internet and the guy that came and bought his floor jack said he just lost two young little dogs to parvo. He said he'd never heard of it! But isn't that like one of the first immunizations puppies get? I love Iris (my fingers typed IRISH! ). She is very pretty and her attitude says it all! I hope she does OK. Our vet didn't overnight Scottie either when he had pancreatitis. We had to pick him up every day at 5p and drop him off again at 8a for a week. Kind of like he had a job.

Gene seems to be doing well post-op. He was visiting his wife, Marge, yesterday. And Vicki is still "cleaning her garage". We can't see what all she is heaving out into the driveway but it's sure loud when it lands. We're amazed she still has that much strength. She was even able to roll her dryer around to the other side of her overturned fridge. The kids finally hauled the stove way or otherwise she'd have an entire kitchen out there!

One of Bill's friends from his exercise class has invited us for supper tonite and I'm making a potato salad to take. I have no idea what else is on the menu. I just offered the salad and they said yes.

Got any ideas about your supper tonite?

Good morning!

Thank you for the good wishes.

Mary - the fire in California needs Daniel, but his regular job is swamped with work and really can't afford for him to be gone for 2 weeks on deployment. Daniel is the number 3 man in the company and they keep him busy designing new schools and hospitals. Daniel is the one in the office that knows all the rules and regs for those buildings and there are so many rules! The big Dixie fire is burning right toward my Aunt's home in a town named Westwood. It is a very small town, a old lumber mill company owned town. When the lumber company quit, in the 60's, they sold off all houses and my aunt and uncle retired there. My parents almost bought one of those houses too. My aunt passed away about 15 years ago, at the age of 100. If the fire takes out the town, those houses are like a ticking time bomb. The lumber company used leftover sawdust as the insulation in the walls. Sawdust is explosive!

Dinner - we have leftovers from last night, if Michael stays out of them. If not, I saw a new recipe for a creamy chicken and noodles. It has all my favorite things together- corn, chicken noodles and sauce.

While Michael is working this morning, Sarah and I will make a run to JoAnn's. I need sewing machine needles. Al kinds, topstitch, embroidery, and plain old ones too. Sarah has lots of coup too. Then we will come back and play in the Batt Cave. My towels arrived that will become gifts, so we need to decide 9n just embroidery or will we do applique. I ordered a new Art to Heart book and it has some cute appliques in it. Humm, decisions, decisions.

Well, that's my plan, but I know how those plans go,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning!
I've been to swaps, sew in and now here. I try to read the sew in daily too but don't post very often because after I read everything time has sure zoomed by. Plus I read on my phone because I'm too lazy to get my laptop out LOL I have to sit at the table with it plugged in because the battery isn't so good anymore....I think it lasts less than an hour anymore.
Mary, parvo is one of those first shots but sadly the vaccine only protects about 70% of dogs, it's a really bad virus and yes it's a 100% killer if not treated early enough. They think Kevin got her there in time 🙏 she's such a sweetie. Kevin was heartbroken that she was upset with him. He'd go to her kennel and she'd back all the way to the back of it and not look at him, he said it broke his heart. He's carried her over his shoulder and cradled her like a baby since they got her after Christmas. He has to sit on the floor these days to cradle her because she's so big. I'll post pics so you can see how funny my son is with her. She's all legs LOL
I hope your supper is yummy!
Jana, saw dust as insulation?! Wow that's crazy they did that back then or anytime really.
What designs are you going to put on your towels?
What Art of Heart book did you get?
Well our supper is going to be cleaning out the fridge.... our lunch too. I'm going to freeze some too, we got behind in leftovers I think.
