SUPPER CLUB - Sat, July 3rd

Good morning,

If you see Eleanor or Chriss around today, wish them a happy birthday! Also, Chickie posted an update on Becca and on herself. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. She called CA yesterday and got the latest news.

Yesterday was a quiet day. I did up the little laundry we had, plus sheets and trailer rugs. Everything went on the clotheslines. then I played with ideas for my Christmas Swap block and we ended the day at our friends for supper. They were down. He had just gotten off a half-hour teledoc appt with his cardiologist. Turns out his heart issues are far more serious than our friend thought. So they were still reeling when we rang the doorbell. I hope we were able to help them get through that first evening with their new knowledge.

Today - no plans! In fact, we have no plans for the entire weekend. But we do have some yard work to do, and a few things to pick up in the house. Maybe finish cleaning the shop. I already cleaned the garage - all except Bill's workbench. Maybe he'll get to that today. And I hope to settle on my block for the Christmas swap.

VELDA - You sound calm in your post, but if I were you, I'd be so excited! You are smart to start now, sorting out things you won't need in your new place and finding good homes for it all. You even have a lawn mower, don't you? And no, it's no fun living next door to rats. Rats eat mice, so maybe that's a good thing. Or maybe not. Occasionally we start finding mice escaping to our place and that's when Bill sets up his trap line. He bought 5 dozen traps so he wouldn't have to empty and reuse them. (double ick!!) But finally, a month ago he engaged a pest control company. Cost us $200 for evaluation and set up and then about $40 a month after that. They also de-webbed the exterior of our house and supposedly we will have no more spiders either. I actually don't mind the spiders much, but I do mind their webs. Except at Halloween, of course! Anyway, between the owls, the coyotes, Foxy, and now the exterminators we're managing to keep the rodent population down.

JANA - Foxy is an indoor/outdoor cat with his own private entrance. He has 5 acres of woods in which to roam and he loves it! Plus, he's a happy hunter in Vicki's long grass! It hard to make him come home "when the streetlights come on" if he doesn't want to. But I try. Today is Daniel Day!! Happy Daniel Day! You sound like you're ready.

TINA - I bet you don't mind having the kids at your house, nor do they mind being there! Win/win. The kids are lucky you are there for them. But if Holly ever does finally decide to free herself of her anchor, she does have you and Frankie to testify on her behalf. In most cases, moms get custody unless someone shows a very compelling reason why she shouldn't. The older the kids get the harder it will be on them, I would think.

LORI - I love working from scraps! Jen Kingwell's quilts are scrapbusting projects for sure and they don't go quickly. But I find them sort of mesmerizing. I get into a zone when working on mine. My first two were all bright scraps. This one will be pinks with bits of green. Chickie showed me a Gypsy Wife all in Halloween fabrics and it was stunning! I also love log cabins. I made a king LC years ago for our bed, but it turned out a little too big! I've been thinking of cutting the borders off the top and bottom.

We have a large cooked chicken breast in the fridge. So I will see what the weather is like come supper time. It's overcast and cool at the moment but might be near 80 by this evening. Supper will be chef's salad with sliced chicken on top if it gets warm, or chicken alfredo with a smaller side salad if it stays cool. Either will be simple and quick.

Mary, theme fabrics would be fun for her patterns. You are right about it going slow.
Cutting all the little pieces is very time consuming. I really like the pattern though.

I need to do a little cleaning this morning, and then working on my project this afternoon.

We have leftover teriyaki chicken from last night, so maybe some rice and a veggie to go with that.

Good morning!

Heard from my Daniel about 3 hours ago. They should be here around 6:30 tonight. I will have tacos ready if they are hungry. They may eat on the road, so tacos will hold over for another night. Spiffed up the family bathroom, so all is done. Kate is coming over a little bit later to use our printer. They don't have one. Note to me- good Christmas idea. Kate will be the primary- children's group- chorister 8n her Ward. She is really good at teaching the little ones how to sing and the words to all the songs in primary. She needs to print out some stuff to help her with that.

Mary - enjoy the free day in the sewing room!

Lori -- your patience will be rewarded with a beautiful quilt!

Well, need to see what Michael is up to. It's awfully quiet.....
