SUPPER CLUB - Friday, June 25th
Good morning,
A lovely, early morning out on the deck with my cat, my coffee, and you all! We are headed into a stretch or record-breaking heat through the next four days. I think we're as ready as we can be. The house is opened up to catch the cool morning air and we'll close it up and pull the blinds when it gets warmer.
Yesterday we got all our grocery and Costco shopping done and put away. I cleaned two pantries and then cleaned the garage. Got 6 loads of wash done. I was beat by 4pm. We ended up with burgers and corn on the cob for supper and stayed out on the deck until bedtime - 9pm at our house.
Today Lee & Lara are coming for brunch. They are visiting from VA. I'm making french toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, peaches and strawberries. They are bringing something from Alec's bakery - not sure what. Alec is their younger son and he is a baker. I have no other plans for the day. The kids will probably be gone by noon so the rest of the day is mine to either goof off or wash trailer bedding or sew or ???
JANA - glad someone can keep track of all the track at your house! lol! Thanks for the croissant idea. We'll be using bread from Alec's bakery. Not sure if he made it or one of the other bakers. I had french bread but Lara texted she wants to use the bread she is bringing - oatmeal bread.
VELDA - sounds like you've got the logistics of the great pick-up swap all worked out! your Crispy dish sounds like our kind of eatin'!
I took pork chops out of the freezer for tonite. We can do them on the grill and have a salad on the side. I'm doing an extra chop for pork fried rice tomorrow night.
Got any tasty ideas for your supper tonite?

Good morning!
Yummy, pork fried rice sounds good. Do you do it all from scratch, or a box mix and then add pre-grilled chop?
Tonight we might eat left over pizza. Or smokie link dogs and chips. Keeping our meals simple for the weekend.
I planned out our food and brought our own food, rather than eat out each night.
No plans for the day, just chill our for the day.
It will be a challenge with our son's dog, as he doesn't tolerate storms at all! He absolutely shakes and quivers. Have to put him in the basement!
We never had a dog that did this, but have babysit him before at our camper when it stormed. He is a huge mess until the weather settles.
Hope it just rains, no lightening and thunder.

Awww, poor doggie! I would think it would make him even more scared to be shut up alone in a basement all by himself. It would me, for sure!
And I make my pork fried rice both ways - from scratch, i.e., cook the rice myself but occasionally I'll use a fried rice-a-roni type thing and add my own things like the diced cooked pork, sliced green onions, peas, etc, and then scramble it all with an egg. I put soy sauce on the table.

Good afternoon!
I too do fried rice both ways, scratch and from the box. I add all kinds of goodies in mine, even the banned pink things.
Mary owie! Hope you are OK and Scottie too. Sure you enjoyed your time with Lee and Lara.
Leftovers here, what ever is in the refrigerator. We need a milk run to Costco and nothing else is coming home from there! LOL! We may stop and get the new lock for the front door. It locks from the inside fine, but no key will work from the outside. It appears as if someone tried to punch the key area with a hammer and screwdriver, but we really don't think so. Just a appearance of such.
Well, time to scoot,
Hugs,
Jana

Thanks for the tips on fried rice. I love the flavored Rice-a-Roni. I have never tried scrambled eggs in it. Oh my, I do love a dash of soy sauce over top of serving!

Just don't add salt to the rice a roni
I scramble my eggs separately, add green onions then to,the rice a roni, along with whatever - shrimp, chicken, pork, even ham or bacon
