SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Mar 16, 2021 6:15 am

Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve!

I had my DNA done a few years ago. Periodically, as technology advances they send me updates. Now they are saying that I'm like 37% SCOTTISH, and only about 18% Irish. Oh, so glad my mom isn't here to see that!

Bill did pretty well yesterday with his oral surgery. I got him home and he slept half the day in his recliner. The key is to keep on top of the swelling so I was diligent about ice packs (on 20 min/off 20 min). I kept setting my timer so I wouldn't forget. I logged a lot of steps yesterday! And he slept on a pile of pillows last night, letting gravity help with that swelling. I also spent a lot of time in the kitchen. I made soup, tapioca, a cake, and Irish soda bread. The cake and bread went into the freezer, the soup went into the fridge, and the pudding went into Bill. I also made a little more progress on DWR.

LORI - the starry pattern I'm looking at is called Galaxy and it's in the March/April 2021 issue of McCall's Quilting. They used a pale gray background, though and I really think it would look rather stunning on a dark blue with tiny (<1/4") winking stars. I have a bit of that kind of fabric, but I'm gonna need 5+ yds if I do it so guess where I'll be going soon!

JANA - sorry Sarah is having such a hard time with her implant. But glad she doesn't have some of those autoimmune possibilities they were testing her for. Your little Lila is quite a little spitfire! She'll go far in life. It's good to hear about your big family dinner. The last time my family was all together was my 60th birthday. And my 70th is next week. We're only 9 people. How did your class go on Sunday?

MARY ROSE - Nice to hear you've made your decisions about the borders. How big is the X-st pattern you found? Thanks for thinking of Bill. He's doing better than I expected. And way better than his sister did with her procedure. We like chili over baked potatoes, too. And green onions, shredded cheddar and a small dollop of sour cream. I made my soda bread. I didn't have buttermilk so I subbed 2 TBSP of regular milk for vinegar. Works well.

BECCA - sorry for all the lock troubles. Frustrating! Frustration is exhausting. Is everything all fixed now?

TINA - sorry about all the wind and silt. Has the farmer stopped his plowing/harrowing yet?

Supper is hard to predict here. Last night it was scrambled eggs. I'm thinking the chicken noodle soup I made yesterday. But it could simply be mashed potatoes, or a banana smoothie.

What are you predicting for your supper?

Good morning!

Mary - you are such a good nurse! And chocolate Häagen-Dazs too! Glad he is doing well.

Becca - locks can be a pain! They will get it fixed soon.

Sarah's tooth woes are because she has a small mouth and small teeth. The Dr uses a 3D printer to make the replacement, but it can't handle the small size. So they did the impression route and will build it the old fashioned way. Sarah also saw the allergy specialist yesterday and they started that testing for food allergies. That takes about 2 weeks for results.

Well, my chicken was punted from last night to tonight.

Heading down to the Batt Cave.

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good early afternoon from sunny but still chilly, SW. Pa.....But as I've said before, Mr. Sunshine is most welcome......

Mary, so glad Bill is coming along and thank goodness Bill has you as his nurse....I honestly shudder when I think of any kind of oral surgery, any thing pertaining to the mouth!
Kathy was showing me pictures of some of her travels and did say, the next time, I'm out, we'll head north into Oregon and Washington......

All I have to say is Kathy is here! I picked her up Sunday evening and it's been non stop talking since...We never left the house yesterday and today, she might have to run to the store..We had planned on visiting with Cari and Lena but Terry's mother in law passed away and visiting and funeral will be later this week so, Kathy will take the car and go to Cari's and I'll stay home with Terry and Theresa.....But in the mean time, each evening, we have family coming for dinner or just pizza....It's a fun time when Kathy comes and they all get together........

So, not much else is planned, just enjoying her visit so much.....

You all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating..................................

Hi everyone! I'm sliding into my chair late again.
We had at least 50mph winds today. Frankie put plastic on the outside of the windows, it helped but some of that fine silt still made it through, crazy. The EPA says agriculture is exempt from having to keep the dirt down. What's the point in making laws, Acts etc.if certain groups are exempt.
Mary, I'm glad Bill has a good nurse too ❤ I bet he is too.
Becca, I hope your lock gets fixed soon.
Jana, fun times with all the family.
Irish, sounds like you're having fun family time too ❤
We've just been staying inside as much as possible which lets us work on the closet and kids bedroom. We're supposed to have less winds tomorrow and Thursday 🙏
We had forbidden food and split a sweet potato.

Tina, and I'm right behind you.

Mary, my DNA has changed as well. I have more Scottish than before. Maybe we're related. lol Glad Bill is doing okay.

Jana, my sinuses play havoc with my teeth. I thought I had a bad tooth years ago and the DDS said you probably have a sinus infection. Went to the Doctor and that's what it was. Periodically I get pain in my teeth and jaw and it sinuses. Must be the way the nerves travel in my face. Sure hope they can figure out the problem for Sarah.

Had another sew day with the quilt group, and again tomorrow and Thursday. We are having a blast sewing, eating and laughing a lot.

We had tacos for dinner. Tomorrow will be Irish nachos.

Sleep well.
