SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 10, 2021 5:41 am

Good morning,

Going to be a jam packed day here today. The window guy is coming tomorrow for consult and measuring so that means we clean today. Bill helps a lot. I have chiropractor appt at 9 and Bill has appt with oral surgeon at 1. We go to friends for wine and pizza at 4:30. I plan to make biscotti to take to them as a hostess gift. And in all the leftover minutes I'll be working on my DWR. Boy, is my sewing room a mess! But that's a good thing, right??

TINA - Tell Frankie that, when it comes to computers, I cannot be taught either! They just don't 'compute' with me. Bill's degree is in computer science and his career was IT manager for City of Tacoma so even if I knew anything about computers, he would still ramrod all things computer at our house! And I would sit back and let him! lol! And like driving, maybe computers is something spouses shouldn't try to teach each other. Just a thought. . .

BECCA - I told Bill that I want windows that will open to wash. We have 14 windows plus a large garden window in the kitchen and a sliding door off the dining room. I expect a staggering bill, but we really need to do this. Glad you found your lost little lamb!

IRISH - that procedure you described for knees is getting more widespread. I would sure look into that before I went with a full replacement surgery. It's not for everybody, but it works for some. Ahh the UPS man AND the Schwann's man?? Now you're getting greedy, girlfriend! Has Kathy worked out the details of her trip yet? I'm happy to hear you thought new windows was the best improvement. Makes me feel better about spending the $$$.

Well, I lied again. Bill ate our leftover soup for lunch so I had to make new food for supper - just a bowl of pasta (made from quinoa!) and marinara sauce. Tonite, though, we're invited to friends for pizza. So no cooking here.

Will there be cooking at your house?

Good morning from a very sunny, nice and warm, SW. Pa...AND boy are we taking advantage of the spring like day...I teased my neighbor, Dee, about making the rest of us look bad by starting her spring cleaning...That's almost as bad as the 1st person to get their lawn mower going! But, really couldn't let Dee get too far ahead, but I don't know where or which way to start, lol.....I am changing the drapes in my bedroom and then maybe in the living room, which means, washing windows 1st and I do like doing windows...This afternoon, I'd like to get outside and pull up all the dead stuff in the flower beds and think what I need to be getting and what I want to plant....I did send a donation to the Arbor Day foundation so will be getting a couple of trees one of these days....We did this at the other house and the trees and bushes they sent were gorgeous......

Mary, I'm sure you'll be happy with new windows, after you get over the initial sticker shock BUT, it will be worth it in the long run....When we got our new windows in the other house, I'd go around just pushing them up and down because half the old windows didn't work....I imagine the "gel knee method" isn't for everyone and probably need redone after some time...My sister had both knees done last year and had great success...Of course, she had one of the best doctors in the area and it didn't hurt that he's so darn handsome, you don't want to be put to sleep.... Really haven't talked to Kathy about her plans and didn't even ask if Tim was coming this trip, lol....I do imagine, we'll either go east to see the girls or they will come this way for a couple of days...I send Lena books or little packages almost every week and Cari sent me a video with Lena saying "Thank you, Gammie" Absolutely priceless! Have no delivery men scheduled today but I'm sure they'll be in the neighborhood...Might just have to order something!

Becca, If I'm having great weather, I'm sure you are too.....BUT, you'd better not be out there over doing.....You'll soon be sitting on that swing.......Enjoy!

I need to get moving, these drapes aren't going up by themselves....For my dinner, I have left over veggie soup...I do have left over spaghetti but I'm going to drop it off at Kevin's later today.....He got new bedroom furniture for one of the spare bedrooms and I haven't made it over yet to check it out......

So, you all have a great rest of the day.......

Happy eating...................

Good morning!

My knee is much better. No screaming pain, and I can get up from a chair on my own. That is a very good thing! Now if Ruby would get home and the new bed delivered, our second shots over, what would I have to complain about! LOL! I really do hate to complain.

Mary - so glad to read that you were getting the windows that open in such a way to wash. And you will not hear those noisy owls either that set off Scotty's alarm. That was one of the first things we noticed when we replaced all the windows in the Concord house - how quiet it was! We did all the windows in that house, after at a time, as we could afford them. Michael's two cents worth - you should get vinyl clad aluminum, not all vinyl, as the all vinyl are junk! He is thinking in not too many years, we will be replacing the windows in this house. My windows are all vinyl and junk!

Yes, some things computer should be left alone! I know enough about computers to be dangerous. But I am very lucky to have Michael, Joseph, Matt, Scott and even Sarah. So when I mess it up, it can be fixed! I even learned to make a presentation and didn't break my computer. I have another one to make for this week.

I am heading down to the Batt Cave in a few minutes. I need to finish up a grocery order before I go play. I found several pieces of fabric to make me a couple of new totes.

Dinner - Humm. ..... unknown recipe at the moment, but tacos might be easy.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, my Bill is not handy nor is he good with computers. I'm the one that does most things.
I think I need an upgrade. lol

Jana, glad your knee is feeling better.

Not much going on today. Boys have been walked in between a few rain showers. I have a sew-in on Zoom with my guild today if I'm sew inclined. It's going on now until 3. I might pop in later.

For dinner I think we'll have chili.

Have a lovely day.

Hi everyone! I'm running late today. I slept till 7 this morning and everything else seems to be running later than usual.
Mary, I agree.... there's just some things that spouses shouldn't try teaching each other. I need new windows desperately too. I have 15 windows that open and (2) 3'x6' windows that don't open, I imagine all that would cost quite the pretty penny.
Irish, our Schwan's man was let go. They got rid of all delivery drivers. That in itself made me sad but then I learned that Schwan's itself; a Michigan company sold out to Korea! They do mail orders but I was just trying to give someone local a job plus.... well..... it rubbed me the wrong way that it's owned by Korea now. Bummer. I'm hoping after today's dirt storm that I'll be able to wash my windows again.
Jana, so glad your knee is better. I sure wish you'd get your machine back, that would drive me bonkers for it to take that long.
Lori, my daughter does everything at their house too. She's not patient enough to teach him things.
I just found out today that Spring Break is next week so tomorrow or Friday will be my last day of school for a week and 2 weekends! I'm hoping to get the comfort quilts all organized and sorted and finish up the little things that I still need to go through. I think we're going to take the baby bed down and find a home for it too.
I have beef cube steak thawing for supper, just need to figure out how I'm making it.

Well, I bit the dust and called the sewing machine shop. A tiny bit terse, but she knew my patience was wearing thin, but I was still nice. Well, the squeaky wheel got some results. The shop called the repair man and he saw the work order and knew exactly which was my machine and told the shop it will be there by the end of the week. OK, my book says the end of the week is tomorrow or Friday. It was promised! We will see.......
