SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 27

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jan 27, 2021 7:26 am

Good morning,

37* and rainy here. Brrr... Scottie and I may just skip our morning walk if it doesn't clear up by 8am. I got my vaccine yesterday. Quite an event! Didn't get home until almost 8pm. A little soreness at injection site this morning but that's starting to go away. No side effects. I got back for #2 Feb 23.

I did laundry and big cleaning yesterday - bathroom, sweeping, polished furniture, shelves, etc. Bill will vacuum today. I only had time to put binding on my Spring quilt before we left for vaccine appt so no other sewing. Maybe I'll get back to my GT quilt today. We are having company for supper tonite so I'll be in the kitchen this afternoon. We are going to eat downstairs by the fire - on TV trays - with seating well spaced. They are very religious about staying home as are we. So I feel pretty confident we are all safe.

IRISH - love the baby eagle news! Now if only Mr. Owl will go about his own business. . . . Glad your foot is improving. Hope only good news comes from your endo. Your sister is a real social buttefly! Isn't a card party where you two got sick? And are your strawberry cream cheese bars kind of like cheescake?

LORI - My Bill doesn't cook. Except to maybe make a salad now and then, or stir something for me. Or when we are camping. I should have him cook more though. I'd lose weight. I'm sure you'll like JN when you get into it. Jana did one and it was looking gorgeous. and she had four more planned for all the kids, I believe. JANA?? Did you ever finish your JN?

BECCA - what are your embroidered towels like? I have a ton of Aunt Martha's hand embroidery patterns with all kinds of designs. If you are ever looking for a specific one, ask me!

CAROLE - I love the sun, too, as long as it stays around 75*! lol! Your summer temps would have me in a little puddle of Mary, kind of like the Wicked Witch of the West! I love breakfast for supper, too. We have that occasionally. And maybe this weekend . . .

So, to recap, tonite is lasagna, salad, and garlic bread. My friend, Susie, has asked to bring a dessert. She can't do stairs right now, and the weather is so bad that we'll back our car out of the garage and let them pull right in so she doesn't have to get out in freezing rain. She can hobble right into our warm family room - no steps. My next house will by all one story!

Now about your supper - thoughts?

Good morning!

Mary - first off, as we say in this house, what have you been smoking? 4 more JN's, I don't think so! The current JN is in line to be finished when my Ruby is back from the shop. You reaction to the shot is the same as all in the family here.

My handyman will be here tomorrow to finish the underpinnings on the island, then set the top on Friday. It will be usable, but the last cut, in the top, to fit my Ruby, has to wait until the end of February, when she is back from the shop. Ruby is the biggest of my machines.

My poor Daniel. He has been out on calls all night long with that huge storm hitting California right now. Power lines down across a major freeway, trampolines in the middle of roads, rain stuck cars and accidents. He was on his way to his regular job, so I was teasing him, hegot a taste of what Aaron does every day! He was agreeing and laughing. Daniel was making sure we were warned to make sure we are safe as that storm heads to us. It is snowing right now and Aaron is out in it dealing with all kind of things.

Dinner - unknown at the moment, but snow tends to make me think of soup. So we shall see.

I have a few uglies to finish, then I will re-arrange my bookcase, to be more useful.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from another yucky, dreary, day in SW. Pa....Mr. Sun has decided to head south, I guess.....

Mary, Good to hear about your reaction being minor...We here in Pa. are still waiting for availability....Sure hoping our president follows through and get's things rolling....Mary, yes, it was at a card party that we came in contact with that dreaded Covid but now, everyone we play with have had it, so we're hoping we're OK until we get the shot....But, after being "inside" all this time, it does seem funny to even go pick up groceries or RX..One good thing, my Walmart will bring the RX right out to the car as well as groceries if you want them too.....I just wish it were warmer so we could at least sit outside or hang over the back porch and talk to the neighbor......

It really is neat about our eaglets and even though they are the same age and size, they are still bonking each other something terrible...They look like those "rock em sock em robots" that the kids had a one time.....I have a feeling Mom and Dad will have their talons full with these 2......

I'm not going to stay and chat....Just not feeling too good today and need to curl up with Baby Girl for awhile......I'm thinking it's the weather......Bring on the sun!

As far as dinner, hopefully some of the left over chicken and rice soup and crackers......

You all have a good rest of the day.....

Happy eating...................

Becca, oh fun for you. Another little one.

Jana, I say, "Did you fall down and smack your pretty little head." What you won't be making a JN for every child? lol They are pretty fabulous though. What's the name of your pattern? I'm starting off with "Baby Bella."

Irish, sure hope you feel better after a rest with Baby Girl.

Mary, we were 37 yesterday morning. It was only 41 at 0900 when I took the boys for a walk. I bundled up a bit. Bill makes 2 things, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, or ham scramble. If I don't cook we just have cereal. We're both okay with that.

So now that people are getting the vaccine, what's the next plan for the country? I think the lack of planning thus far is what our biggest problem is about. They shut everything down, but what's the backup plan? What if they don't get everyone vaccinated within the time frame of the shot effectiveness? It's only 2 years.

I was at the grocery store today, and the only difference at this point is everyone is wearing a mask. There's no sanitizing and barley any social distancing. I wonder if we just would have let this run it's course if it would have made that big of a difference. I guess we'll never know. On the bright side, there
have been extremely few cases of the flu.

We signed all the paperwork for the sale of out house in Illinois and sent it out today. Closing is Friday at 1000. It will be nice not to have to make that house payment anymore. Especially since no one has lived there since the first week of June.

For dinner I'm going to make enchiladas with green sauce. I was going to make them the other day, but just didn't get around to it. I've got the chicken in the oven now. So later I'll just have to roll them and cook them.

Have a lovely day.

Lori - my JN is Fire Island Hosta. Oueen size. I did mine in creams, reds, oranges and a small touch of purple. Very warm sunset colors. I am at the final assembly steps and then quilting it. My teacher has the LA with a computer and all the quilting software to quilt it. I may send it out, we will see.

I also have the Bali Wedding Ring pattern. Just need to collect those fabrics and Mary shared one with me too. Sarah bought a JN, I think it is called Irish Thistle, she is going to make. So there are a few more around here.

Like I have said, JN is really not hard. Her instructions are very well written and all the papers are printed ready to go. Just a matter of being very careful in cutting the papers, ready to sew, and making the folding tool. The foldng tool allows you to fold the paper as needed and trim the fabric as you go. It needs to be made of a heat - iron resistant plastic., because you do press on it.

Looking forward to seeing yours.

Jana
