SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Sep 25, 2020 5:29 am

Good morning,

It' pouring rain again this morning, We really needed it! This is our third day of rain, though we got a sunny few hours yesterday afternoon. Today we're driving my Al & Tina up to tiny town of Mineral in foothills of Mt. Rainier to visit Barb, Albert's wife. And Al, too, of course. The cemetery is about 1/4 miles from their home. It's about a 2-hr drive so it's going to be most of the day. We won't leave here until about 11:00.

Yesterday I did some cleaning in my sewing room while Tina emptied their trailer of things that they'll need to stock their new trailer with when they come back in a few weeks. Pans, dishes, TP, canned food, blankets, towels, etc. Then bill and I went to courthouse to pick up the Vicki papers. The new order will be served today. We all played a game of Racko, had our mandarin pork chop supper, and nodded off in front of the TV. Exciting day! lol!

BECCA - so HAPPY to have you back at Supper Club! You have really been through the wringer. Glad you finally have steady help at home. Hopefully this will make life easier for you all. We've been worried about you and praying a lot!

CAROL - sadly, my sister is one of those who won't try to learn new things. Texting? Forget it!! In fact, she barely uses a cell phone and when we tried to give them our old ones she outright refused even though her husband wanted them. But when HIS kids offered them phones HE accepted so now she just barely starting to learn. And finding she likes using it for pictures. But still won't text. BTW, they LOVED your mandarin pork chops and rice and asked for the recipe. It really turned out good. I put it into the crockpot though it turns out rice in a crockpot doesn't need to cook for 7 hours. Who knew? I'll get it juuust right yet!

JANA - as to Vicki and the judge, she asked the family if anyone was pursuing assistance from the state, power of attorney, medical help, etc. Ben (Vicki's SIL) explained all he's been doing, threw in some legal terms about situations like this, which proved he'd obviously done his homework, and said the state keeps turning them down. The judge seemed surprised that this is being allowed to go on. (Remember, this is the same state agency that messed up BIG TIME with Susan Powell's little boys) And then Ben requested that we be given a longer extension of our order and she granted that easily. Your gnome wall hanging is going to be so cute. For you? For Sarah? For ME??? I think I have the patterns for the first three blocks of the Sindy R's Gnome for Christmas quilt that were posted last year. Then we got distracted by family stuff, holidays, and I never finished collecting the patterns. But I have enough to make a cute wall hanging if I want. And maybe I want . . . . And we all know you'll master the MM bow in no time!

Supper tonite is still in the air: Split pea or chicken noodle soup, or pesto pasta.

And you?

Howdy!

We got the Highlander all current with it's registration and smog requirements. Took less than a hour. The only hiccup was starting my Solara, the battery was dead. But we have a great toy that can Jumpstart the car. It is very small and holds enough charge to jumpstart the car. We have one for the Highlander too. In fact, I have two more wrapped a Christmas gifts for my big boys. We got these chargers at Costco. They will even run a cell phone whose battery is drained.

Our friend just got a brand new bumper pull trailer. They pick it up today and she now needs to get it outfitted with everything. So, since the pull out beds are not standard size, I am showing her how to take a flat sheet and turn it into a fitted sheet. She only sews a little, but can do this. They have 4 little ones, 8 years to the newest little boy, 6 months. The rig is 34 ft long and they also just got a new dualcab Chevy Silverado.

Humm - dinner - taquitos and queso. I love making queso. It is so easy!

Mary - send rain! We need it! Enjoy your family visit.

We are hoping that Daniel makes the good decision to leave California. They are thinking about it. Sarah has the networking contacts for Daniel to work back here as either a full time fire fighter or architecture. His good friend and old boss lives here in Cache Valley and that is a possibility too. Daniel wants to use his time here at Christmas to get his networking up and going. Oh how happy I will be to have him and family here.

Ethan just arrived, so off I go,
Hugs,
Jana

I read early the got busy doing errands. I still cannot find any 97% FF Ground Turkey. Was there a recall I am unaware of lately?

Tonight's dinner was Lasagna Roll-ups. We don't end up putting on more cheese and we like these very much.

Mary - I am not sure any pork chops let alone the rice would be okay for 7 hours of cooking. Really it takes less than an hour to cook in oven. Sometimes to make sure rice cooks I cook it on top of range for 10 minutes. Then put the dish together in casserole and it will be done in 40 minutes tops. Glad you enjoyed the recipe though!

Jana- Your excitement to get Daniel closer to you is clear. I cannot blame you. You have a great family that are always willing to help one another.

PS (edit) Mary - Neither of my sisters will go on Zoom and don't like to text either.
