SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:36 am

Good morning,

After a few days in the upper 60's, we're heading back into the low 80's this week. Nice! Almost too nice for this PNW gal! We have leaves starting to fall and colors are starting to turn here. No doubt about it - the seasons are changing.

Yesterday I got most of the laundry done. Today I'll do one misc load. When we come home, we'll be bringing 2 weeks worth of dirties with us and so will my sister. I want no "seed" in the hamper when we return! Bill put my second plaid quilt on the frame and it's about 25% quilted. Not sure if he'll get it finished today but it will be a good start when we return. I got the labels made for both quilts and they are ready to be sewn on.

Today's to-do list is long - besides one last load of wash, I need to vacuum, sweep, clean both bathrooms, prepare house plants to leave, grocery shop, make brownies and pasta salad, pack trailer fridge, pick up mail. Oh - and clean up sewing room! But first - coffee and thou(s)!

BECCA - I hope you're feeling up to joining us at the table soon! and you can even eat any banned food you wish if you want!! :D

CHICKIE - so happy to see you again! You've been missed! Sorry Doyle missed out on a birthday party for his important milestone. He's in a pretty big club - no birthday celebrations for anyone this year! Sorry to hear he wasn't feeling well. Any news on that front?

TINA - here's to your doggies!! Praying the med does what it claims. So confusing, the kids schooling. I think a short break between assignments/classes is a good idea, especially for young ones like Easton. (and for grammas! ;) ) I saw a segment on the news last night about a new app for schooling where the kids don't even have to be at a screen. The plain old workbooks of old would sure be nice right now!

IRISH - I'm not sure I can keep up with you! I am wondering if the folks in Barrow for last 3 years were orginally from your area or someplace else? My brother, Gene, is one of the truckers who brings in the supplies that get shipped up there. And yes, burger prices (and all others!) are astronomical. Gene jokes that when you stop to get a burger at the truck stop you always buy two - one to eat and one to throw to the polar bears so you can run to your truck! lol! He might have been trying to pull his little sister's leg on that. But maybe not . . . .

CAROL - Yes, your recipe is making the rounds! I shared it with a neighbor and with Gene. I think it would be great with chicken, too. I would add just enough red pepper flakes to give it some zip but not enough to make it hot. I keep my rulers in an old LP rack I found at the Goodwill. I have a smaller one for smaller rulers. They work great!

JANA - No worries! The flannel sheets are freshly washed, line dried, and most importantly, on the trailer bed! Also a warm comforter and a quilt folded at the foot. And our Arctic Fox trailer is insulated for winter camping (which is why we chose that model). But the first 4 nights of our trip will be in HOT weather! lol! But we'll survive. Love that you are getting Home Improvement Tim to do those jobs at your house. A quick fire exit is essential! Just ask Chickie and me!!

Supper last night was delish! Homemade pizza with alfredo sauce, finely chopped veggies (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower), chicken, bacon, mozz & parm cheeses. I also seasoned with S&P, red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning. I pre-cook my crust in the oven and then we put the pizza on the grill outside. Next time we'll use a lower grill heat. lol! But it was still tasty and we have half a pizza left for tonite.

Happy Suppertime! The cat will be away for 2 weeks, so have fun playing with your menus! Really - the cat is going with us. He's all packed and spent the day sleeping in his bed in the trailer!

Good morning!

My to do list is mostly empty today. Not much needs to be done. Sarah is contacting a ESTY seller over a machine embroidery module applique of Minnie and her bow. It is what we are looking for, so if it is the right size and format for my machine, we will try it. First on a test block. The software isn't expensive, so we will see.

Dinner - chicken and rice with lots of gravy. Fresh tomatoes too.

Mary - enjoy your trip! Glad Foxy is ready and you won't have to go find him. I remember times when he disappeared just before leaving.

Well, need to call Sarah and see what is happening. Ethan will be down after his school work for the day is done. Sandee and Sarah have worked out the curriculum and Sandee has the textbooks needed. Also, a good friend, in the Ward, is over the entire state in creating and implementing the science curriculum. He has given Sarah the info and where to get it. Now to keep Ethan on track with all of this.

Hugs,
Jana

Becca - keep getting better - we miss you!

Jana, I sure hope Ethan does better with home schooling. Online learning is not for everyone.

Mary, sounds like you are ready to get out of town. I leave next Wednesday for my trip north to Utah.
Looking forward to different scenery. Plus I get to see my grand doggies. I miss them.

I was going to quilt another top, but I think it can wait. It doesn't need to be done until mid December, so I have some time. I want to get working on the Christmas kit quilts I bought last month. Those are for Christmas gifts, so I have some time, but like to get things done early.

Dinner will be Chicken taco salad.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon from warm, muggy but dreary with a few rain drops in the mix.....Of course those rain drops decided to fall as I was thinking about putting clothes outside on my "thingie"...Oh well, that "thingie" is now standing in the laundry room in front of the door......

Mary, sounds like you're just about ready to hit the road...I just can't imagine packing up a camper before hitting the road..I have enough trouble getting my suitcase packed...But, I do think the hardest thing for me is making sure everything at home is done and of course everything is ready for the "Princess"...We'll be leaving on Friday and coming home on Monday and the "Princess" is going to have a new sitter but she, once again, will be spoiled rotten.....
I have a feeling, your brother, Gene, wasn't pulling your leg when he told you about the polar bears....The locals do not, "just put the dog out", they make sure they walk them and make sure they're not too close to the beach..Right now up there, it's whaling time and it's quite a big thing...When a village brings in a whale, everything shuts down and everyone gathers on the beach....And when they cut it up, each village shares....This couple are relatives, she's from Pittsburgh and he is JoAnn's nephew and he had lived and had gone to school in California....For awhile, he and the family did live in our area and he and 1 of my sister's boys could pass for twins.....He had never been married and she just swept him off his feet.....But, they do have dreams and hopefully, those dreams will come true....He does have a business and a house in Texas and they have property in Georgia for a future winter home.....It's really fun to be around them and their fur baby, Bailey who has gotten to be quite a world traveler......

Jana, I'm not sure what happened to my "to do list" but I'm sure it didn't have anything important on it......Your Minnie block is really going to be special, perfect for a little lady....Your dinner sounds delish, especially those fresh tomatoes.......I also remember Foxy being missing and they had to delay the trip a little before finally getting him on board...

Chickie, I was so happy to see you...Have been wondering and thinking about you....Was also happy to hear you liked Chris' relish recipe....Chris was into the hot stuff and he did doctor up a few jars to his liking....Kathy also heats up a few when she's doing them....Her last batch, she used zucchini and it is so good...I gave her your recipes and she's working on those...Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought she would be doing all this canning but when your hubby makes almost the whole back yard into a garden, you get out the jars....They lost their freezer in the garage mishap and all freezers are on back order and they might not get their's until the beginning of the new year....She also told me, there is a shortage on canning supplies, now......Always something.......
Sure hope DH is feeling better....Really not good to be sick and miss your party, gee whiz!

Oh Becca, hope each day, you're feeling better and better...Did you see where Mary said, you are allowed to eat whatever you want, even the banned stuff......We really do miss you, hurry back!

Today, being dreary, isn't a day to really feel like doing anything..And I guess it wasn't a good day to do laundry and expect to hang it out! A neighbor was going to walk over and pick up some masks but now it's raining so she'll probably wait....Yesterday, I did run to Aldi and then of course had to stop at Home Depot...I didn't get the mulch but I did find 3 more plants that I couldn't pass up....

Tomorrow is bingo and then maybe dinner out...Might go back to the Cracker Barrel and pick up an extra shower gift......
As for my dinner tonight, I'm thinking a poached egg and toast....I did get a loaf of gluten free bread and had a sandwich for lunch and it was pretty good...This diet really does take some getting used to...Thank goodness my chips are gluten free, lol......

You all have a good rest of the day.....

Happy eating.............
