SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Aug 26, 2020 5:23 am

Good morning,

Happy National Dog Day! If you've got a dog, give him a hug for me! We will be celebrating Scottie all day long. Of course we celebrate Scottie all day long every day here! He sees to that! But maybe an extra cookie at lunch will get tossed his direction.

Yesterday was my annual physical. She was happy with all my numbers plus I lost 4#, which was a nice surprise. Now all my medical stuff is done for the year. Whew! Gets to be more and more of it every year. After my appt, was a visit with a good friend. I also got the laundry caught up, pieced the back for another quilt, and got binding on Tea Party. And I started #47 of my state bird blocks.

Today - wash house and trailer sheets and towels and put them on the lines. Start packing clothes for about 16 days, and piece another quilt back. I have 3 tops left that need backs pieced, and 7 in all that need quilting.

IRISH - your day was a busy one yesterday! What kind of trees are you looking for? I must pull out a gazillion baby trees every spring - maple, fir, cedar, alder, and sometimes even a hazelnut, which grow wild on my property. Did you get to try your new mower? I picture it like a Roomba vacuum . . . What's the current project in your sewing room? The Irish Chain? Christmas Swap blocks? What are you making for the swap, anyway? I didn't see your chosen block listed on the thread.

JANA - fresh chicken eggs are a treat! I got another dozen from the neighbors yesterday. I feed their chickens all the fruit and veggie trimmings I have. They are so fun - when they see me they come running. (the chickens, not the neighbors). Last year I accidentally made extra pot holders, too. But they are handy to have because once in a while you need a sudden gift! Could you find a picture of Minnie in a storybook, colorbook, internet and just enlarge it to the size you need and use that for your pattern? I use that method all the time for my quilts.

TINA - You better get those snowfolk together! You don't want the hostess to come looking for you! Hope Easton did OK at the dentist. And I hope your temps drop soon. This is why you'll never see me visiting in summertime! I can't take that heat. 80* and I'm hunting up fans, ice water, and shade.

LORI - I saw your braid. Love the fabrics and colors you chose. That is a fun pattern.

I think tonite's supper will be red beans and sausage with salad on the side. I was going to do chicken tacos but found a few bags of cooked beans in the freezer. I should probably use those up first.

What's the supper story at your house?

Lori, love your braid quilt, it's ready for Fall ❀
Irish, we're going to plant a plum tree this year, Frankie's nephew has them coming up everywhere and he's giving us one.... or 2 or 3 LOL
We're going on a little drive today to get out of the house for a couple of hours, we'll eat lunch in the car parked somewhere then maybe just salads for supper back at home.

Good morning!

Tina - we had three volunteer plum trees started at my house in California. I babied those trees and they provided great shade on a very sunny window. But, never did they give any fruit. Just a few pieces that fell and made a sticky mess in the pathway to the backyard. Good luck!

Mary - yeah for you! 4# is great! Happy Dog Day to Scottie!

Last night Sarah saw our dinner, I had enough for her family as well, so she invited herself over. Tonight is still in the unknown category.

I got all the gifts of potholders wrapped yesterday. Fixed - glued a patch on Kate's fire jacket and ready the sewing area for a new mess - Karlie's quilt. I will do 12 inch blocks. Also figured out the bow - it will be in two pieces, a dog bone shape and the circle for the knot. Hope I have enough fusible.

Not much else here,
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, Jack and Wrigley are in the same catagory as Scottie. Every day is national dog day, and kitty day at our house. We are here primarily for the comfort of the furry ones.

I didn't get much sewing done yesterday. Nothing special, just doing things around the house. Today I want to get some blocks cut out for our guilds block lotto.

Dinner tonight will be grilled chicken with potatoes and maybe a spinach salad.

Have a lovely day.

I hosted a Zoom Sew-in today for my Guild. We had it from 10-4 with people coming in some stayed most of the day others just dropped in and out. We had a lot of fun and it was good to get to know those I did not know well if at all prior to this.

Tonight's dinner was a Pork Chop Bake with Rice and Mandarin Oranges. It is a recipe I have had for 40 some years and is delicious.
