SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Aug 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Aug 06, 2020 6:35 am

Good morning,

We've been in low to mid 80's for two weeks but today - 68* & a little bit of rain! Yay! The webs between my toes were starting to dry out and crumble! (local joke :D )

Yesterday I got the sheets and laundry done. Love sleeping on fresh sheets dried on the line. I also cut as much as I could on my new Kimberbell project and ordered the fabric and embellishment kit needed to finish it up. Not sure when I'll sew this thing - start working on it here or take it on the road with me? But when I do, I'm ready! Bill finished quilting my R/W/B quilt so I hope to get the binding on that this morning. Then I have massage appt and after that shopping at Costco and Freddie's. This will be a big trip so it's going to take several hours by the time we get it all home, carried inside to our landing area, cleaned, and put away. Plus washing produce and packaging meat for freezer.

BECCA - How nice to see a deer on your walk - at least once you determined it was a deer in the brush and not Bigfoot! We almost hit a fawn coming back from my brother's graveside service. So cute!

TINA - you are exactly opposite us - we use our regular coffeemaker every morning and the Keurig only occasionally. In fact, so occasionally, the pods go stale. Making log cabin or courthouse step blocks for my project would work. Love your fajitas! They are on our menu list for camping next week. What did you do differently to make them best ever?

JANA - that old "Open, open, open" is a staple phrase around here! lol! Glad you have your kitchen back. Will be looking for those photos soon! When you give your pot holders as gifts, will you match them or mix them?

CAROL - congrats on the ice cream! I think I made some many moons ago. Seemed labor intensive when I could just get it at the store so I never did it again.

In case any of you missed it, Mary Q has posted the Secret Santa, 2020 over in Swaps. It's a bit different this year - no sewing! It's always a lot of fun. There is a sweet story behind why she does this for us every year. You should ask her about it if you haven't heard it.

Today is shopping day so there will be lots of new food in the house - though I still have leftover orange chicken. So I'm thinking that and salad will fill our plates tonite.

How about you?

Good morning!
Oh how I wish I could get a massage Mary, ours are still closed. Frankie likes being able to make a cup of coffee at a time, some mornings he only drinks 1 cup others 2. I don't drink coffee, yucky 🤣😂
I have no idea why my fajitas turned out sooooo good LOL I know the bell peppers were really yummy and the jalapeno was spicy, it took my mouth 30 minutes to cool down! 🔥
I'm not sure about supper yet.
I'm washing bed clothes today and still going through things and trying to get everything vacuumed and dusted, this will keep repeating for a few days. I am close to finished in the 2 spare bedrooms though. The one has to wait for my contact paper for the new shelves so I can get my stuff put on those shelves. The room where the kids usually sleep is done except dusting the shelves off in there.... just some little things to finish.

Good morning!

Not much here today. It's Michael's BD, so dinner will be tacos - his favorite. Ethan will be here for dinner. Tacos are his favorite too. Ethan called early this morning to sing Happy Birthday to Grandpa.

Sarah is forced to deal with her FIL's idiotcy! This man has dug a hole - a very bad one and could have criminal repercussions. Sarah will need to use her forensic skills at tracing through his business bookkeeping. Sarah's DH is facing getting a conservatorship for his father. Not a good time. Ethan will be here lots!

Ethan and I will work on his quilt and I will sew. My potholder gifts will be one of each of the fruits I have. There will be six in the set. Sarah has already glommed onto the first two practice pies. I need to make 5 sets for gifts and one for my new ones. I have enough that I may make one for each of my neighbors as a Christmas gift, with some small goodie as well. Planning ahead! LOL!

Mary - love Kimberbell patterns. Know the one you are making. I have several that use my embroidery module to do the applique. I am making the bench pillow patterns for the garden bench in the house near my kitchen.

Tina - oh how I remember putting down contact paper on shelves! Mine, and all my time growing up, my mom's! I have a very old treasured Betty Crocker cookbook, the one I used growing up, that my mom wanted to make look better - she covered it in a orange, brown, mushroom patterned contact paper. As ugly as it looks, tattered and worn, it sits proudly on my cookbook shelves. I use it all the time. It is falling apart too.

Becca - deer can be dangerous too! Their hooves are sharp. Love your bears!

Time to scoot - Stay Safe!

Hugs,
Jana

Becca, I hope we get to see your bears, I bet they are a hug waiting to happen ❤❤❤
Awwwww Jana, that's a good cookbook. I have one that my mom gave me when I turned 13 years old. It has kinda spiral rings binding inside but isn't meant to be used as a spiral...... well Holly didn't know this when she started cooking and the covers are now off, all worn and tattered. I've been thinking of taking it to Kinko's to see if they could spiral bind it and put the covers back on..... it's irreplaceable.

Pork Chops were outstanding so I need to write recipe and keep it! The ice cream was worth the trouble! Ghirardelli is great chocolate!

Tonight's dinner was a repeat, but not leftovers. Just had more to be cooked.

Oh Ghirardelli chocolate- the many times I would go over to Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco and get their hot fudge sundae. Love that memory!
