SUPPER CLUB - Friday, June 26

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jun 26, 2020 6:24 am

Good morning!

Our day yesterday was awesome! We needed an awesome day. A 230-mile round trip - and the drive up to Hurricane Ridge was a 17-mile scenic drive from sea level up to 5,200 feet with an eye popping view of snow-capped mountains against blue skies, green hills in foreground, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca to our left with Victoria and Vancouver Island (Canada) on the other side. And the weather was purrfect! This was the view from our picnic table. While deer wandered calmly among the visitors to the Ridge. And I got to drive the new car for almost 90 miles! When we got home, about 4pm, we fed the Boys and left again to go buy 5 half-flats of strawberries and raspberries. So I'll be making jam all morning long today. Some for us, some for Autumn, and some for my sis and BIL for Christmas. AFTER my chiropractor appt. I haven't been for 3 weeks and I've sure missed him!

ROSEBUD - so sweet of you to make a comfort quilt for your co-worker. You work in flowers so you could use floral fabrics. And they are so pretty and cheerful and people give flowers at a time like this.

CHICKIE - One down and 2 to go! That satin binding can be slickery! How did Doyle's appt go? Hug Covid for me!

BECCA - when are Denise and Mark coming back to tackle that list they've already made? Where do you get kids like that??? I want some!

IRISH - you must have a pretty big yard to have all those shrubs in it! You'll have flowers all season long once they 'grab hold'!

JANA - I've seen that restaurant you spoke of! Never eaten there, but seen it. SPECTACULAR! Hope your SIL's test goes purrfectly today.

I have good news and bad news regarding Albert: They did find a rehab facility for him. Many are not accepting new patients during the pandemic. Especially a patient who will be in/out 3x/wk. Now to get the nearby dialysis center to accept him. And he was told yesterday that without dialysis he would live about 2 weeks. With it - 2 weeks to some months. There is no more treatment they can do for the kidney cancer that is causing the kidney failure. Turns out he thought the dialysis WAS treating the cancer. So my niece says she's not sure how much Al understands and retains. And also it turns out that his wife, Barb, thought his issues were his lungs all this time and was mad because "no one told her it was his kidney". Argghhh.... She suffers from depression and self-medicates. She is always in a dense fog. The kids tell her everything but she can't retain any of it. You would think the urine collection bag at his waist for the past 3-1/2 years would be a tip-off. But no. So - things aren't looking good for Al. In other news, our friend, Danny, had to go back into surgery for a bleed in the brain. No word yet on how that went. His DD lives in Spokane - 300 miles away - and her hubby was in surgery there at the same time! So my information stream dried up for a bit. My prayer list is getting so long that I'm needing volunteers to help me get all the praying done!

Last night we snacked on picnic leftovers so tonite will probably be a one dish meal of leftover rice, diced chicken, and peas. Probably a salad, too.

Got a good idea yet for YOUR supper?

Good morning!

Dinner is easy for the next few days - leftovers - fried rice, potstickers, country fried chicken, gravy and mashed taters. I hadn't planned on feeding Ethan last night, but that all changed. Hence I had to cook. There are perks to being retired, you don't have to cook every night to feed hungry gremlins!

Weather is hot, but will cool off dramatically in the next day or so. From near 100 to barely 65 for our high. I won't complain!

Mary - hope that things work for your brother. It's hard to know, but many prayers for you and the family. Sounds like a beautiful ride yesterday. And you got to drive! There are times, I head out to the Highlander and get in the driver's seat before Michael is out of the house. He walks to the driver's side and I just smile.

Not much going on here. The squirrels are running amok here! Saw a quilt block, Minnie Mouse that is perfect for my pixie, Karlie. She is a Minnie Mouse fan, big time. So will order the fabric shortly online. That will be her Christmas present this year. Doesn't take much for the squirrels to gain a foothold!

Sarah and Joseph just stopped by. Test is over - seems all is good. Brought us a doughnut from a fabulous shop in SLC. I am nibbling it now - a cake doughnut with strawberry glaze.

Stay safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Mary z - Continued prayers for Albert.
Great idea using floral fabrics in the comfort quilt. Today was an 11 hour day at work so no cooking for me tonight. Charles went to BK and got me some chicken nuggets for supper. Now I need to get ready for bed so I can do it all over again tomorrow. Hugs to everyone.
