Supper Club - 15 June 2020
Good afternoon! Looks like I haven’t made it to the table in a few days, but I have been cooking and eating. I seem to constantly be on the run for one reason or another. I went to the grocery store after brunch, came home and put it all away… well, most of it.
This morning when I fed Covid, I opened the gate to his pen. The cows and calves were up from the big pasture, and I watched as Covid slipped through a loose wire in the fence and went to join his pals. If he doesn’t come home for lunch, I won’t sweat it. Last evening I called for him, heard him in the distance answer me, and I walked out to one of the pastures. He was on his way home, but when he saw me he broke into a run. I’m sure he is lonely and enjoys socializing. The last bucket/bottle calves came in pairs, so they stayed in the yard unlike my little Houdini. They were all heifers, as all the babies have been until now. Have no idea if that makes a difference or not.
I heard from MaryZ… yesterday they had snow, and today is cold and rainy. I think they are starting for home early. Her brother is still in the hospital and having dialysis. He is certainly a fighter!
Becca—you had me salivating with your bakery product descriptions! Sigh! I went to the meat market and purchased some pork chops.
Lori—I am never bored out here on the farm, for sure! My daughter started calling me Ellie Mae when I got married and moved to the farm. I had chickens, goats, calves, dogs and cats. Everything was turned into pets! The goats were crazy! I think about getting more chickens, but they do tie me to a schedule. They must be locked up at night before the raccoons or foxes can get to them. Makes it difficult to go out for dinner and come home late. (It was a tragedy one time when we were late getting home.)
I’m going to try to finish a table runner for my DD today. The rest of the week will be baking and decorating cakes and cookies for first great grandbaby’s christening on Sunday.
Dinner tonight will be liver and onions with broccoli and scalloped potatoes. I had a big salad for lunch when I returned from the store with produce. I purchased some huge artichokes and can’t wait to fix one. It will make my meal tomorrow night, and DH can have leftover L&O.
Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from a very nice day, not real warm but darn nice.....I had just noticed, I didn't make it here yesterday either....I also heard from Mary and she did say to tell everyone Hi from her...She's been working on her inside projects because of the nasty weather...But, at least she got away and that's always a good thing....And for sure, her brother is a fighter...Her whole family is special aren't they?
Oh Chickie, love the adventures of Covid...You know, when I lived on a farm, I didn't like it at all but now, I'd probably look at it in a whole different way...I was only on the farm until I was 17 and certainly wasn't impressed...Our oldest, "Lil" Jim, loved going and staying at my Mom's and when his kids came along, they were the same way...In fact, his oldest leased a farm and had beef cattle and acres and acres of hay and corn...When his youngest, my DGGS came along they nick named him "Baler"...He was on the tractor with his Dad all the time...That farmer blood line kind of skipped me and went on to them, lol....
When I hear you say, liver and onions, I think of Jim...I didn't make it often but he sure did like it....Of course not one of the kids would touch it.....
I guess yesterday was kind of a lost day, don't remember doing very much...Today was laundry and planting a few more plants...I have tomatoes on my lonely 2 bushes, which I'm excited about...Tomorrow might be the day I get my yard started...I live on the corner and it's really going to be a big improvement, will look so nice! I also had to clean the oven...I made a peach cobbler to take to my sister's on Friday night and let's just say, my smoke alarms are working.....What a mess but the cobbler was delish...I was going to make a chicken pot pie but remembered, the oven, ugh! So tomorrow might be chicken pot pie....
I finally started my cross stitching and for awhile, I thought I was using the wrong aida cloth...Maybe it's time for that eye exam, lol....
Just not sure what dinner might be...Since Mary is away, I might stick a crab cake in the oven, along with some asparagus....
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating..................

Well Chickie, I think I will just hop over to your place for supper. I love liver and onions, but can't fix them worth a darn. The one restaurant where I could get good liver and onions closed down about a year ago.
Prayers for Mary and Bill as they travel. Prayers for Al as well.
I've been busy paying bills and working on ugh-lies today. I was going to take my UGRR blocks to the post office to make their way to Mary Q, but I got blocked in by the city working on our street.
Supper tonight will be leftovers. (That is if I am too late to get to Chickie's)

Hello everyone we had a thunder storm after lunch Much cooler today
Chickie Your little COVID wants to romp with his peers We had chickens pigs & a horse & cow when I was growing up
I will be with Rosebud because I love liver n onions Haven’t had any in years You don’t see it in stores for sale
This week I’m getting spiced fig & hazelnut sourdough bread I’m anxious to try it She is expanding & has so many more offerings She’s also going to offer classes & workshops She’s hired another pastry chef
Irish I hate cleaning a messy oven Mine is self cleaning But I don’t like to make a big mess in it On yellow bell bushes all you need is a cutting from a bush Stick about 12 or more ins in the ground & it will root That’s how I got some more bushes A friend of mine that was a landscaping pro told me About it
Rosebud Maybe if we hurry we can be at Chickies in time lo
Maryz Prayers for Albert & for you & Bill to have safe travels
Lori If you make it to table Hello to you

Good afternoon!
Nothing has struck my fancy yet for dinner. We won't starve and there is plenty of extra fluff on me that doesn't need to be fed!
Sarah is coming down to grind some wheat. She has been babying a sourdough starter and it is now ready to be used.
Me - just doing what is now normal around here, uglies, uglies and more uglies! My boring life is just that!
Now my Aaron, that is a whole different! He was backing up a trooper, investigating a accident that involved a city cop, which got quite tense with people trying to start a incident from the neighborhood. The trooper kept things from happening, with Aaron, as her backup. He is armed, but it is concealed. Finally, the mama in the neighborhood, whose daughter was in the accident, came out and put those idiots in their place, ordered them to go home and they obeyed that mama. Mama's are not to be messed with. The trooper allowed her to go up to the daughter to help the daughter out. Whew! I don't need that with Aaron! So glad for that boy's training, in seeing and being quiet and immovable. Nothing seems to phase that boy. It was a very minor fender bender and no one was hurt.
Well, should get going,
Hugs,
Jana
