Supper Club - 13 June 2020

Post by FarmChick » Sat Jun 13, 2020 8:09 am

Good Saturday morning! I may have a few minutes here to set the table before DH returns for brunch. I have a Dutch Baby Pancake in the oven.

Covid had too much fun yesterday! First he invited friends over to play, then he went across the cattle guard with them to the big pastures. He did not show up for lunch any time after noon. At 4 p.m., I finally went looking and calling for him. Finally I saw him coming around the corner from behind a pond. He was licking his lips and running—guess he finally remembered he missed lunch. I fed him, and he got to stay in his pen the rest of the afternoon and night. I gave him dinner at 11 p.m. He was still ready to eat again at 7 this morning! Now he is out and about again. Such is the day in the life of an orphan calf.

Becca—trimming makes the forsythia bloom prettier and fuller in the spring. I love them! I’m trying to nurse a couple of starts to bushes. We got the starts at the old homesite. There is a huge bush that DH planted 40 years ago. Bethany is really doing well—know you are so delighted and proud of her!

Lori—good to see you! Chicken tacos sound delish! I may have an idea for tonight’s fare here.

We are headed for 90+ today. Had a little rain shower earlier that lasted only a minute and hardly wet the sidewalk. It will be steam in a bit.

My timer went off, and DH hasn’t returned. He will have a flat pancake.

Dinner tonight—it just might be tacos or at least taco salad.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Dinner is the standard fare - leftovers! I did bbq chicken drumsticks and macaroni salad. Ethan stayed for dinner and I still have enough for tonight.

We got good news yesterday. The biopsy can back benign. We have a appointment with the doctor the first of July, but the nurse told us no further test for three years. Now maybe part of life will be back to normal.

Daniel called and they will be here for Christmas. It will be fun to have my little pixie, Karlie for that time. I have informed the kids here, that there will be a decorate Mama's house, before, so it will all be done. It takes me about two weeks to put up everything. I have waaaaay to much, but love Christmas!

Michael is mowing. We almost lost parts of the lawn. One of my gremlin grandsons turned the dial on the sprinkler timer and messed up the watering cycle. Not Ethan, but we have a good hunch which one of the others. He messes with the dials and tensions on my sewing machines, as he thinks this is funny. I informed him the cost to fix it the next time, so he left that alone and now moved to other things. He is on our list!

I will be fusing one of my cat quilt blocks today, along with doing laundry. I was earning my PhD in laundry - piled high and deep! Even though we are staying home, laundry still is piling up!

Chickie - I love my animals here - horses, chickens, deer, cats, a lamb, a cow, ducks, and dogs. I can just watch all the antics and someone besides me has all the chores of cleanup and feeding! My way of having them! LOL!

Well, time to get something done,

Hugs,
Jana

Chickie, sounds like Covid had a fun day with the others.

Jana, Christmas at your house will be wonderful. It's always great when you can get all the kids together.
That only happens for us maybe once a year.

Hi Becca.

Not sure what's for dinner tonight. Maybe steaks if DH goes and gets them from the butcher. Not much else going on. Just adjusting to the new life.

Have a lovely day.

Good late afternoon from a semi sunny, chilly (for me), SW. Pa.....Not sure just what happened to our summer weather but I even wore my heavy PJs last night and now am wearing sweats and socks.......

Chickie, so happy to see you take care of things...And love, love your Covid stories....For an orphan, he's enjoying a good life, isn't he?
I'm hoping the fellow who is doing my yard brings a couple forsythia bushes...I had them at the other house and tried to bring some starters but it didn't work....But, he knows I like color so I'm sure I'll get lots of color.....

Jana, So, so happy to hear the good news....What a huge sigh of relief from all of us...Isn't it funny how you can almost pin point who the culprit is when something goes wrong? I love that commercial, I think it's for Tide, but no matter when something goes wrong, the little boy says, "Wasn't me".....

Becca, Forsythia and Mt. Laurel, has to be gorgeous...I'm going to have to check out the other plant you said you liked.....

Lori, sounds like things are quieting down in your household....Hope your day is good....

Yesterday, I ran to Sam's, came home and made peach cobbler and then went to my sister's and we played cards until midnight...I really have to laugh, when I come in "late" BabyGirl is sitting there waiting and I swear she has that "Better explain yourself" look on her face....Today, I had so many plans but nothing has gotten done...Woke up with an extra bad tummy and just couldn't seem to shake it...It really is a mystery, didn't eat or drink anything different...I dread having to call or seeing the doc but probably break down and make the call....
One bright note, Kathy has made reservations for the middle of August to come this way for 10 days...Then she'll be back the end of Sept. for our beach trip...So, I sure have lots to look forward to....
As for dinner, another cup of tea and slice of dry toast...Yum yum......

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating.................
