SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Apr 28, 2020 6:39 am

Good morning!

I woke up at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep but I didn't want to get up, so I sat up in bed and finished a book I was reading. If there's a lull in the action around here later today, maybe I'll sit for a bit and start a new book - which means my eyelids will probably fall down. :) We got our fridge yesterday morning. It arrived at 0845. It's a lot bigger than I realized, since I never saw this model in person, only briefly on-line. But at least it has bottom freezer with french doors instead of a drawer. We've filled the fridge compartment and today I'll bring all the frozen stuff back from the garage.

I received another request for more masks so I'll be doing that this morning and then getting them into the mail this afternoon. Then more crazy blocks. And maybe a couple sample blocks of that new pattern I mentioned yesterday that's caught my eye. Just to see if I like it. And I know I will . . . I rarely start a new project when I still have one in progress, but I kind of feel like the crazy quilt is an on-going thing, to work on between other projects, not a mad dash to finish. Right?

BECCA - I'm thankful Denise and Mark are OK after the storms. So sweet of them to keep checking on you! I hope your new PA is a good one. Bill's regular 'doctor' is a PA and he's excellent. Pinto beans and cornbread sounds good. Our friends in Texas have a hummingbird feeder and they sent a pictures last night of a woodpecker at the feeder. Looked like he was trying to 'blend in'.

ROSEBUD - nice that Charlie is there with you! Happy birthday to him on Thursday! It's also my sister's birthday. Is he your only offspring?

JANA - That tanker rollover was a pretty good Aaron story all by itself. The chicken adventure was better, but we take what we can get here! lol! I can't believe Sarah's FIL was sent home and now her MIL will probably get sick, too! What a situation! I also can't believe they would send you a book with 46 pages missing! Did they think you wouldn't notice?

LORI - sitting out on the patio with the computer, coffee, and your fur babies sounds idyllic from here! I have to say, you eat well when your DH is gone. I'd probably be eating PBJ's or poached eggs every night. lol! And yes, wasn't it nice of Jana to come up with such an enticing idea. Can't believe I'm the only one that fell for it! You should try a few blocks. They're fun! You'll like them! ;)

CHICKIE!!! We've missed you! Are you done making bonnets and masks for now? Talk about busy!! You take the cake! Doyle, too. Building two sheds at once. What's next on your to-do list? Maybe take a nap?? lol!

CAROL - glad your eyes were deemed fine. And you have berries coming on. Maybe I should try planting some berries. Our problem is not enough sun. I used to have wonderful raspberries at my old house (35 years ago), but we sold it just as they were starting to ripen and I heard the first thing the new owners did was rip the berry bushes out.

TINA - you made it! About your fridge, you might even be able to find a used RV fridge in an old or wrecked RV, or a used residential one. Especially since it's the end of the college year - lots of kids have dorm fridges that they sell in May. Sorry about all the swamp coolers Frankie is fixing/installing. I'm glad that's one thing we don't have to deal with. Not much of an issue here as cooling is only really needed a few days a year. You mentioned that your dad's lonliness is getting to be a problem for him. I was wondering if your family has discussed what Dad will do when he is no longer able to live alone. Hope you are feeling better today.

Supper last night (penne with marinara sauce and meatballs) was a hit and there's lots left over so it's another heat'n'eat night for us. How about you?

Good morning!

Well, Sarah's garden is expanding to my house. My great wall has a terrace that was always planned for some kind of garden. The owner of the sod farms in Idaho, also has acres of potatoes. Sarah asked him for a bag of seed potatoes, if he had some extra, so he sent down a large box, more than her garden space she allotted, so my terrace will have potatoes this year. Our rototiller is at her house, so she will bring it back here and till the space. The space is about 4 feet wide by 40 feet long. Lots of spuds!

Not much more here - so far quiet, but I know my kids! LOL!

Mary - I am learning to embrace scraps - kind of like leftovers to eat. You learn to get creative! I have many saved to use up.

Just found something else that is in short supply here in Utah - thread. My neighbor just went to get some thread for something she is making and the store was out. She asked if I had some extra, of course I do, so she is picking the spool off my porch.

A good Lila story is over in sew ins, if you want to read.

Dinner is still lurking somewhere in the freezer.

Hugs,
Jana

Jana, wow...out of thread? Superior is just down the road. lol

Thanks Becca. He came through okay.

Mary, no I'm not making those little crazy blocks. If I did, I'd end up with a pot holder, because that is how many I would make before I went crazy. Yikes....3 am is early. So glad your fridge came and you got everything moved in.

Hi Chickie. Good to hear from you. Sounds like you are crazy busy. Hey, maybe you should make some of those 5 inch crazy blocks. lol

Hi Tina, you slid in late last night.

FIL came through his surgery well. They will keep him a few days to make sure everything is fine, then he can head home. He should get home on Thursday. Shane doesn't leave until Saturday, so he'll be able to see him before he leaves. Bill will be there for a while. We have some decisions to make regarding the house.

Well my chicken didn't pan out last night, so I will have that tonight. I ended up making a taco salad with the leftover taco meat. It was fast and easy.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon from another dreary but now dry, SW. Pa....We've had enough rain to last for awhile or until tomorrow....Hopefully, one of these days, Mr. Sun will be back and stay awhile.....Of course Kathy made sure I knew it was going to be 82 and sunny in Reno...

Mary, was wondering about the new fridge...Things never seem the same when you either order on line or by phone...But, glad you have the freezer like you wanted and of course an ice maker.....My fridge doesn't have an ice maker in this house and I sure do miss it....But, I dug out the trays, make ice cubes and dump them in a big container.....AND another thing I miss in this house, my high potty, lol....After having one for so many years and joking about feeling like you're sitting on the floor with the lower ones, I now have to get used to "sitting on the floor".....The lower one just makes it easier for Baby Girl to jump on my lap....

Chickie, so happy to see and hear what you've been doing....Taking it easy, right???? Knowing you, you don't know how to take it easy...I can imagine how cute those calves are and how easily it will be to spoil them....

Becca, I admire you for taking that walk every day....My walk consists of going through my small yard, cross the street and walk about 3 yards to get my mail..But, every morning, I walk across my front porch, down 5 steps and pick up my paper, if that counts, lol.....Maybe one of these days, I'll venture further.....I have been hoping to soon be able to get out and actually play in the dirt but am waiting for a landscaper to come and give me some advice....I'll bet your yard is really looking good.....

We are still in the "stay at home" mode in most of our state which I think is good...But, I find myself forgetting...Just last night on the phone, I told Kathy I wanted to look at some things at Home Depot and she wrote back with ?????She said, anything I needed, she'll order from Amazon and have it sent to the house....But, I really, really don't mind staying home.....Today, not really doing too much....Writing out some cards, going through some fabric and thinking about the next project.....And like Mary, finished a book so maybe I'll start another and then for sure, the eye lids will fall......

For dinner, I do have chicken cooking...Not sure what I'm going to do with it but something will pop in the old noggin.....

You all have a good rest of the day.....

Happy eating..................

Lori - yeah - just a four hour drive each way to St George! No big deal! LOL! Oh that does not include the time to spend in the store, petting all the fabric!
