SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, March 8

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Mar 08, 2020 6:34 am

Good morning,

I thought I was sleeping in (sort of) and when I got upstairs and looked at the clocks on the appliances, I remembered DST. lol! Our bedroom clock sets itself so it had already 'sprang ahead'.

We leave this morning and will be home again March 16. We don't get cell or internet at the campground, so you all will be on your own. Feel free to knock yourselves out at the mac & cheese buffet! ;) I will be checking in with my phone now and then whenever we might leave the campground. Astoria, OR is just across the Columbia and we always make at least one run over there.

Yesterday I cleaned up my sewing room and put the living room back in order. I use the carpet as my 'design wall' and had the furniture shoved aside and the accent rug rolled up. Boy, after five of those"floor quilts", I'll be glad not to be crawling around on the rug, up and down, down and up, any more!! Whew! And I must have made hundreds of trips up and down the hall, sewing/ironing each little seam, then back to the living room floor to fit it in and figure out the next seam. One day alone, I logged 4,000 steps on my Fitbit just quilting. That's about 1.5 miles.

Our friend ripped her nylon jacket on rose thorns yesterday and they called me to see if I had any one-sided fusible interfacing to use for mending it. Well, of course, I did! So they came over and stayed for ham and sweet potatoes. We had a nice evening - a good send-off. Our other friend who flew to LA and was going on a Princess cruise with a group of 40 flew home last night. Princess gave them the option of cancelling without losing money, so her entire group voted to cancel. Smart move, I say!

Now we are hoping Vicki's son comes this morning to take her out shopping. He usually does this on Sunday mornings about 8:30. That's when we'd like to pull the trailer out of the shelter, get it turned around and pulled to the front without the extra stress of her glares, finger gestures, and "chants". But she does stay on her property (which tells us that she really does know where the property line is.)

CHICKIE - I like the backing you've found for the FF Baby quilt. Cotton or flannel? You will be having a lot of fun when that baby gets here! You are having such warm temps, but with the Kansas winds I expect the 'feels like' temp isn't quite so warm! But your Hooligans won't mind! Scottie loves the wind at the ocean. He lifts his face into the breeze and his long hair flows back like a doggie Breck commercial! lol!

JANA - good to see you are managing to keep busy in your sewing room! Though when has that ever been a problem for any of us?? I love pink and gray together. Back in my thinner days, I had a beautiful pink/gray outfit for dancing. Sigh. I miss my thinner days. :( And yes, we did have an Alaskan cruise on Holland planned for August and we've talked about how thankful we are that it didn't work out. I hope your case of Covid 19 hasn't been out and about! The virus can live up to about 9 days in inanimate surfaces. That ship off SF, the Grand Princess, is scheduled to be in Seattle in April to kick off the cruise season. I wonder if that will happen now . . . .

BECCA - I bet you and I were making spaghetti sauce at the same time on Friday! Yes, the Costcos here are out of a lot of things. But I wouldn't say people are panicking as much as they are planning. We all want to stay out of the stores and other public places so we can avoid spreading this virus as much as possible. To do that, we need to stock up. Bill and I foresaw this happening and did our stocking before the rush. It's a little un-nerving to be the epicenter of something like this.

TINA - ahhhh - that new car smell! I bet Holly can't wait to get her car. What color is it? always the most important question in my book! Did Frankie ever find something to eat? my go-to on nights like that is poached eggs on toast or pancakes or cheese toast. Yum!

Tonite's supper is going to be more ham. Not sure what else will go with it, though. We might have one large sweet potato left. If not, we have russets.

Take care, stay well, and enjoy your Lenten suppers!

Good morning!

Mary - have a wonderful relaxing trip! That bridge between Washington and Astoria scares the bejeebers out of me. Too tall snd spindely! Michael want to drive across it, but I vetoed that. Just admired it from Astoria side.

At church. Termite will be over for dinner. As for what I will feed him is unknown. But tacos are a great possibility.

Hope to sew after church.

Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from a sunny, getting warmer, SW. Pa....Hopefully, we will have warm temps most of the week but it seems, it never fails to cool down, even be known to have big snow storms for St. Paddy's Day....Jim always marched with the AOH in the parade in Pittsburgh and 1 year the snow was piled up so bad, they almost had to cancel...Parade went on but Jim stayed home.....

I know I'm too late to wish Mary and Bill a safe trip but sure will be thinking of them and of course praying for a safe, healthy trip...It really is a scary time but hopefully, everyone will be diligent, take more precautions and this will go away....Just heard, we too have a few cases here in Pa.

I've been trying to catch up but I think I'm still far behind, lol....But, here at the house, I'm beginning to see that end of the long tunnel...Ruby has been seeing a lot of miles, running back and forth, from house to house....I should be tracking the miles I've walked or just gone up and down my steps...One good thing, Kathy ordered PO priority boxes and padded envelopes and they have been the best ever....Perfect sizes and when packed are easy to handle...I've been telling everyone who is thinking about moving, get these boxes...

Did talk to Kathy last night and they'll be back in Reno on Tuesday...Sent me pictures of the sunsets and whales...It's birthing time and she said, there's lots of mommas and babies.....

As far as dinner, usually that's on the fly....My sister had made a new stuffed shell dish...Shells stuffed with boxed stuffing and then covered with cream of chicken soup and baked....I was a little hesitant but it was delish!.....Tonight just might be Mary's go to, poached egg and toast....

You all have a great Sunday......

Happy eating...........
