SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Feb 1st, 2020

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Feb 01, 2020 5:51 am

Good morning,

I just had to write the year on our subject line. I really need to practice "2020". I feel like I'm living in the future! Anyone want to borrow a cup of water? I think we've set records for January rain, even for the PNW. And now we're adding a warm 17 mph wind. A real pineapple express, as they call it, coming in off the Pacific. Not sure what you're going to call it when it reaches you, as this line of storms is headed east, but I have some suggestions for you. I just took Scottie out and his choice areas to sniff are all under water!

BECKY - so sorry to hear your boxer isn't doing well. I love having pets, but it's so hard when they are nearing their end. I wish they could live longer. But they are still worth the heartache for all the love they give us! Hugs to you and the kids. Glad you're all on the mend. Have you had flu at your house or just bad colds? Our friends we were out with last night had what seemed to be colds but it hung on for almost 3 weeks. No fever or body aches.

IRISH - Oh, I hope this house deal works out for you. Goodbye Steps! Hello Sister! You'd never have to worry about supper again! But most important of all - does it have RV parking?? ;) Fun to meet up with someone you immediately feel a connection with.

BECCA - the twins must be coming up on 6 months old in a few weeks! Though, Mother Nature probably views them as 3 months. I bet they are sooo cute! How are you feeling? Hope you have no errands for a few days so you can rest and recover.

JANA - heads up! Pineapple express headed your way! Are you ready for some football?? I know how excited you and family are. Will you be at your house or go to someone else's? We'll be at a SB party tomorrow and we saw on FB how they've got their house all decorated up. Looks like they are going with Chiefs, but hard to tell - everything is just red! lol! I think I'm going to be rooting for you and Richard Sherman but I'm still wearing my Seahawks shirt!.

LORI - I don't know what a 4K TV is, but if you want one, it must be good. :D I never care much for the furniture at Costco but they do have a dining set in that is square when folded up and round when the four sides flip up. But the chairs are higher than regular chairs but lower than pub height. Easy to slide in and out of. If it had been a different color I might have given it a second look because of those chairs. But on second thought, with my short little legs maybe it wouldn't have been a good choice. Our table is about 27 years old, oak, oval, expands to seat 8, can squeeze in 10. So it's really purrfect but I still like to look.

TINA - How was your party was last night ? Was it nice to see your nephew again and meet his family? I hope you're not still lying under a table somewhere!

CHICKIE - what's the baby cow count? Is your weather as wild as ours?

I have my CCC halfway put together. The rest of the blocks are all sashed so it's just a matter of another 45 minutes and it will be time to start the borders. Not sure yet what they are going to be. But I'm determined to sew from my stash, so it will be something I already have. I just learned that I won this month's lotto blocks, so I'll have another top to put together as soon as this one is done. If there's a break in the rain I want to run to the store for some strawberries. I'm going to make little fruit/cheese ka-bob appetizers to take to the SB party tomorrow. I already have green grapes, pineapple, and two cheeses.

Friends are dropping by late this afternoon but since happy hour always rolls into supper time, I wanted to offer something light but substantial. So I'm going to make a pot of chicken noodle soup. I'll either make Chickie's baking powder biscuits to go with or perhaps get some crusty french rolls at the store if they have fresh ones. And I want a dessert but not much as they are trying to stay on a diet (and I should be!) so maybe a Lindt dark chocolate bar to break up and share. Guess I better make a list.

What's happening in your kitchen tonite?

Good morning!

Mary - yummy soup and bread! I can go for that anytime! And your appitizer - strawberries and cheddar cheese - red and gold - 9'er colors! Way to go! :D

Yes, the Pineapple express nails us by two ways - from the north or from the south. Just depends on where the high is. One brrings colder snow, the other warms us up a bit. Right now I have sunshine and warmth. Tomorrow, a doozy of a storm is expected.

The only kids here will be Aaron and family and Ethan. Stu is at work, Sarah has choir practice, and Matt will be at his in-laws, so just us. Aaron wants wings to munch on and I will do a easy dinner - meatloaf, baked potato, and green beans. Brownies and ice cream for afters. That's all tomorrow, so today will be whatever you can find in the kitchen, as long as the mess is cleaned up afterwards!

Finishing the floors today. My Crosswave, a floor washing toy stopped working, but Michael got it fixed. Plus I ran out of floor cleaner, but now have 2 bottles and will finish the last sections today. Then wax them. Also picked up rug soap as well - so that is on my list of to do's. Just need to wait until closer to Spring.

Better get moving,

Enjoy,
Jana

Jana, I need to shampoo my carpets. Waiting until I can have the house open a few days.

Mary, yes please we would like some water down south. You are hogging it all in the north. I was thinking just the other day about 2020 being so futuristic. Funny when your a kid you think time in the future is so far away. Now it comes really fast. I think that's because I'm getting slower.

I need to cook up some chicken today. So maybe bbq chicken and mashed potatoes with a veggie.

Have a lovely day.
