SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, New Year's Eve

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:54 am

Good morning!

We are heading into a very wet and windy week here. JANA, brace yourself! It's coming your way! Sorry 'bout that!

Yesterday was chiro appt, then a round of errands - Costco, Safeway, pick up mail, Kohl's for shoes. When we got home I whipped up a bunch of Jan lotto blocks. A fun, easy, and quick pattern this month. Today will be uglies and cleaning my sewing room - again. Sigh.

TINA - you are too cold for me!! No - no top soil! The pond is in a different part of the yard. Remember, our 'yard' is 2-1/2 acres. We are putting the crushed rock in the path of where we drive the truck and trailer to park. In summer it's no problem, but it's wet in winter and after all the construction vehicles and equipment, it's gotten muddy. We need the traction. We'll toss out some grass seed, too, to encourage the grass to come back to further anchor the soil come summertime. Bill had a truck load delivered yesterday and he's spreading it with the tractor now. Hopefully he will get it finished before rains come back later today.

JANA - So glad to hear your good news!! Such a relief, I'm sure! Big hug! Bummer, though, that he needs to go through it all again in March. Yes, we may play again! And this time it will be our turn! We ARE taking turns, aren't we?

BECCA - did you say a while ago that you now have palliative care for CA? What do they do for him? If you looked into it with them or with your doctor, you just might get a nurse or phebotomist to make a house call for those blood draws and save him trips to the doctor/lab. When you do errands, is he able to stay at home by himself?

LORI - as for our rocks, we WANT grass to grow up in the rocky area. We'll have the traction we need, but the look of mowed grass. And it's just all wild grass, not lawn. When the rocks settle in, we'll be able to mow next summer with the tractor.

CAROL - good luck with your quilt entry! What kind of quilting machine do you have? Ours is a Nolting and we've had it for 11 years now. Love it!

Tonite, instead of staying home, watching the ball drop on the east coast, and going to bed at 9:30, we're going out! It's only 2 miles away so I feel OK about being on the road. Going to a steak dinner and then dancing. We'll be with our friends who are bringing their visiting relatives from TN. I'm almost certain we'll be home by 10pm, but we'll see. We used to go dancing several times a week but haven't for years. Now we both have hip issues, plus my back. We'll see how it goes! I may be in the ER by 10pm!

What's the New Years story at YOUR house?

If I do it right, here is a picture of the shelter and beyond it the mud – too slick for regular vehicles. The grass and trees beyond or Vicki‘s property

Happy New Year everyone. Wishing you all the best for 2020....We will have to stay up until midnight for our yearly toast with the sparkling wine.....started it when the oldest was just a year old.....back then, for several years, we were able to turn back the clock and still go to bed early, then he learned to tell time. Then for a few years, when we watched the ball drop on TV, he didn't know what eastern time was, so that worked.....now, not so much....LOL....I am not even sure how many will be here, or where they will be....but, at least the 16 year old will be here. He is a homebody, for sure.
Loved your shelter, Mary. When you say that Vicky's place is the grass and trees, was just wondering if you have to get on her yard to back your trailer in? Inquiring minds and all, you know.
Jana, great to get that news. I know that makes you feel so much better....Tina, do you get more than one day off? Our GS goes back to school on Tuesday, Jan. 7th. Irish, hope you are feeling a lot better.
We are having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight....Miss Brytt requested them, so maybe she is staying in tonight....at least until dinner is done, for sure....she said she needs comfort food this next week or so, with the meeting of the new step-mom to be.....I don't know why she is stressing, this makes the 6th or 7th one, and he hasn't married yet, so told her it wasn't a done deal yet.....Ian doesn't have an opinion, and Ericka doesn't like her.....boy, he has a chore to make three of them happy!
You all have a safe New year's eve, and the best New year! Becky

Good morning!

Oh it is cold, dark and dreary to my east, but there is a bright patch of sunshine bursting through - brightens the world!

We are very happy at our news. It has weighed down heavily on us for the past days. But like the bright patch of light, we have now moved past that.

Mary - love the new home for Silver. Just what I pictured. But judging from the tractor in front, it seems huge!

Becky - we used those same tricks too, now they are passed on to our kids!

I have broth in the freezer to be able to make noodles. That will make Michael very happy. Never did make the potato cheese soup. Not one of Michael's favorites, he came up with other things to eat.

A few uglies, a bit of sewing and lots of football!

Enjoy!

Jana, great news for you and Michael.

Maryz, that's a nice structure. I see the mud. Hope the rock helps. I didn't know you could mow over it when grass grow in.

I'm thinking maybe steaks for dinner. I'll send DH to the butcher to get some good ones.

Have a lovely day.

Happy New Year Everyone!!
Maryz - I have had a HandiQuilter Sweet 16 for a year and a half. I put off quilting this quilt because I wanted to practice and take a couple of classes. I have done both and have more classes scheduled at Road2CA in mid January.

Jana - Such good news for Michael!

Tonight will be a repeat of last night's dinner - Chili. I ended up making a pot of Chili last night so I didn't use what was in the freezer. I almost burned the garlic-cheese biscuits because I fell asleep. I think I slept better last night. I might make more this evening. I probably will not make it to midnight, but we will see.

The weather is beautiful here today! The weather for the Rose Parade should be wonderful too. Yes, I did open the doors today and aired the house. We did go outside and clean up a bit. I also cleaned up a bit inside. All is ready for the New Year! Have a safe and happy New Year!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year's Eve!!
Yes I'm off until the 6th, I'll have all 3 kids on the 6th because kids will still be out but Holly has an in service day.
I've always stayed up till midnight to ring in the New Year. We used to have a hide a bed couch and we'd pull out the bed and the kids would stay up with us, it was fun!
I hope you all have a great evening!
Tina
