SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Dec 19

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:08 am

Good morning!

Yesterday my laptop broke nearly into two pieces, three if you count the hinge that is supposed to hold the screen to the keyboard. So, since if it were a person, it would be in fifth grade this year, Bill decided it was time for a new one. So off to Costco we went! An hour later we were home with this new baby - a Dell. Maybe I should name her "Adele"? lol! Can't believe how much faster it is! I've been computing in the dark ages and never knew it!

Going to be a stormy day and night here. Our two grandsons were coming here tonite for our Christmas together but we waved them off. They would have to drive 60 and 70 mile roundtrips in the dark, wind, and rain, and we figured it was just better to postpone. So next Monday, Christmas Eve Eve, they will be here instead. So no plans for today. I think I might clean bathrooms and mop the kitchen floor. We've had no faucet for a week in the main bathroom. Started out as a leak (1/4 cup/hour!). But some parts were needed that Bill couldn't find so he decided to go with a new faucet and of course, it was out of stock and had to be ordered. I think, though, today is the day! Will be so nice to have the basin back in operating order, and all the stuff that goes UNDER it put back away.

In sewing news I have none. I did get out my QIAD pattern, Patches of Life, and considered some Christmas fabrics but got no further than that. I need some inspiration! I do need to make a baby quilt for a May baby. Maybe I'll start thinking about that. New baby will be my great great niece.

JANA - I love that you love trains! Seems like it's truly an inherited gene in your family! I have to be careful. I'd love them, too, if I let myself. There is a model train club in Tacoma and a guy Bill used to work with was big into it. They had a huge display of tracks with all the accoutrements - villages, countryside, stations, etc all set up at the Wa State Museum one year and we went to see it. I was fascinated! The lesson in Amazon packaging is interesting. I hope Stu still loves his job a year from now.

IRISH - yay for Tim & Kathy being there, but bummer that you had to drive in snow to get them from the airport. And that you were so wiped out from your stress test. And that you are starting a cold just when you need it the least. That could have affected the results of your stress test. I'd demand a re-take. But another yay for the pip! I hope it's an eaglet by now! Enjoy your visit and we'll see you when we see you! Be well.

BECCA - sorry to hear that your sweetie has a viral infx. I hope he gets over it soon - for both your sakes! No kissy-face! Just like you said - kissy-forehead only! :D Your babies, by right, should only be 3 or 4 weeks old and most babies don't turn over until they are 10-12 weeks old. Amazing!!

CHICKIE - did Daniel LOVE his cookie? And I hope all went well with Doyal's kidney US. Are you almost ready for your big family Christmas?

Our supper tonite is going to be chicken burgers and potatoes fried with diced green pepper & onion. And some raw veggies & hummus for pre-supper snacking.

And what can we get for you?

Gosh, I thought I had been here this week....my bad! I think about what I am having, apparently, my fingers do not work the same!
Becca, so happy to hear about the twins....they are really coming along....our Brytt was a premie, so I do kind of follow their progress with what I remember from hers...she didn't turn over that quickly! So happy for your family though
Mary, if you run out of things to do, I have plenty....just stop by.....my BFF called Saturday to offer me assistance! told her I didn't think I wanted her pickiness in my mess....good thing she loves me, she laughed and told me she didn't really want to help, with my messiness, but she thought a good friend would offer.....she is too funny...
Irish, enjoy your company....
We are having meatloaf and baked sweet potatoes tonight....Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, as it seems I am haphazardly on and off of here! Becky

Good morning! We are still breezy and chilly, but the ice all melted yesterday. Odie and I had a great trip to deliver the cookie. My DD took the afternoon off, so we had lunch at a little oriental place that serves delicious food. She had some bills to pay, and we did that. Since we were a couple blocks from Salvation Army on senior discount day… well, the car just found its way there. I found a lovely Lennox bowl for $0.99 less 25%! I also found a pretty little plate and a couple of planters that I’ll use for DGD’s plants they want. Then we went to Big Lots and did some shopping from our lists. I still have to go get the rest of my dinner makings, but I got a good start yesterday. All too soon it was time to head for home, and I stopped by the chicken place for “lizards and givers”—livers for me, gizzards for DH.

Becca—such great news from the twins’ front!!! Know it will be a very merry Christmas!!!

Irish—yippee! Kathy and Tim are coming (or they are here)!!! SNOW is a 4-letter word as far as I’m concerned! It definitely is if you have to be out driving in it! I do hope you are feeling better and not coming down with a cold!

Carole—Hope Luke does well on his new regimen with you as nurse! I had to learn to give my late DH shots, because there was no way he was going to do it to himself. What! No DREAMi (Drop Everything And Make it!) projects!!! That’s how my UFOs pile up on me. Little projects that catch my eye and I MUST make them!!! Good luck!

Jana—I remember a giant black steam engine in the yards at Oakland when we were coming back to Kansas! I couldn’t be more than 5 or so years old. I love trains!!! I’ve heard Amazon is extremely demanding of their employees! Good luck to Stu!!!

Daniel loved his cookie. I got a pic later. I didn’t see either of the grands. Daniel wasn’t home from work when I came home, and DGD had to be at her concert early. It was a 12 grade concert, so I didn’t go sit through all the performances but came on home. As for the ultra sound, they didn’t say anything. I’m guessing there was no immediate problems. I’m still shopping for dinner. We have a gathering on Saturday, and I’m making stuff for that. I’ll be cooking and cleaning in earnest starting Sunday!

Becky—I keep thinking I’ve been here, too, then I figure out I haven’t. Seems like we meet ourselves coming and going! Love your friend’s and your attitudes! Dinner sounds delish!

Becca—I keep seeing cookie recipes, but I know I would be the only one eating them. I certainly don’t need them other than for the yum factor! We have a sharp south wind today, but we are in the 40s! I’m thinking your cookies might be either the Mexican Wedding Cookies/Russian Tea Cakes or Snickerdoodles or maybe molasses crinkles… all rolled in sugars of one kind or another, and all YUMMY!

Dinner tonight will be tortilla soup and/or the livers and gizzards.

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon!

Home from SLC. Test went relatively well. Found one problem, fixed it and we are now waiting for the biopsy results in 7 to 10 days. We do have to repeat again in 3 months.

Not much more here. Sarah won't need to go with me again, as I can handle the short distance of walking. So I am heading down to sew. Sarah has been baking cookies - sugar cookies to decorate. Have the vanilla batch done and are now doing a chocolate sugar cookie batch. I will do the Russian teacakes and chewy cookies. Chewy cookies are the magic that turns Scrooge into Santa. No Chewy cookies, no presents. Chewy cookies are like a caramel blonde brownie, but not dense like a brownie - chewy.

Dinner - I will make a soup of some sort. No dietary restrictions, but Michael will enjoy a good soup.

Enjoy!
Jana
