SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Dec 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:02 am

Good morning,

41* here, and maybe some rain, maybe not. I haven't ventured out yet to see. But I'll be walking in it, whatever 'it' is, in about 90 minutes.

Speaking of my walk, yesterday we saw a critter - about 75 yards from us. It was difficult to see unless it moved because it blended into the background. It was either a coyote or a cougar. We have cougars but sightings are rare, especially in more populated areas. We have coyotes and they are more common. Probability is that it was a coyote, but we both thought it had the look of a big cat. Scottie was willing to take it on, which caused the animal to turn it's attention on us. Then a car went by and it slipped into the woods. All this was about the distance of 1-1/2 city blocks from our house. They have cleared so much land in the past few years that the wildlife have no place to go.

Yesterday was blood work, walk, chiropractor, and then Bill and I took truck to a landscaping supply place in in Port Orchard and brought back about 20 large flagstones to put in our front yard this coming weekend. By then it was 1:30. Late lunch, sew FGV blocks for few hours, supper, and then friend, Annette, came by with cruise brochures and stayed for 3 hours. It was almost bedtime when she left, but we did get our travel date settled - Sail out of Vancouver, B.C. (4-hour drive north of us) Aug 15 and redock in Vancouver Aug 22nd. Looks like this might actually happen!

Today is sew something, bake something, and then go to friends' for supper. Not sure what they are serving, but probably something chickeny.

TINA - what a supply of fun gifts!! So neat that your brother made you that clock to match your china. Where are you going to put it? The aprons are so pretty! Great for group baking sessions! Love all your photos!

BECKY - your household is full and bustling! you might dream of quieter times ahead, but I bet you will miss all the activity when they do move out! Our family Christmas will be 5 people. 7 if we count Bill and myself. We had to draft my sister's son & wife to get that many!

IRISH - I love the little ones, but they can certainly exhaust us gramma types! lol! when do Kathy and Tim land in town?

BECCA - I forgot that your DGS is about the same distance, probably closer, actually, to Olympia than Tacoma and the other cities. I would definitely choose Oly for medical care over Bremerton. My mother's cousin, Sr. Cabrini, used to be in charge of all staffing at Providence Hospital in Olympia (previously called St. Peter's) for decades. And the last time I was there her portrait still hung in the dining room. If your DGS's family keeps breaking stuff, they most likely will be seeing more of the ER there. Tell them to look for me to see if 'Brini's picture is still there. :D

JANA - Yes, Scout has been most handy with this big project of Bill's. And you get kudos for remembering our tractor's name! Did your friend get her quilt bound yesterday? By hand or machine? machine takes a little practice. All the grand-pets got blankets for Christmas the year I was learning to machine bind! I remember always getting a new dress at Christmas when I was little. They came from Santa. Finally, my mom started leaving out scraps of the fabric that matched our dresses for us to find. I guess by kids #5 & 6 she was getting tired of the Santa routine and thought it was time for us to figure things out.

So - no cooking tonite! Going to Doyle and Susie's for supper. I plan to make Mary Q's mom's cranberry bread today and take a loaf to them. I already gave them their potholders - foxes to put in their Arctic Fox trailer.

What's the plan at your house?

Good morning!
Mary, I wonder if it was bobcat, we have them all over here! And they sure blend in.
We're have sunshine today, yesterday I was told we had sunshine for about 20 minutes, it must've been when I dozed off waiting for Tracy to text me back LOL cause I sure didn't see any!
Frankie put my clock above my hutch where my China is, it's centered in the middle above it.
Today is Tuesday so it's when I have all 3 kids till after 6 so I try to feed them too. I'm going to make potato sausage soup, they love it! I hardly ever eat potatoes but I'll splurge tonight.

Good morning!

Mary - we have had numerous sightings of cougars, aka mountain lions here in Herriman. Usually the cougar is a young one, booted from the nest by mama and looking to establish his hunting ground. One walked across the back of Sarah's house. I would call wildlife services and report the possible sighting. Here, they come out and look for evidences. That way they can locate and remove the cougar out of the area, farther up in the mountains. We have even had them in downtown Herriman!

Tina - oh, that soup sounds yummy. Love the clock that matches your china. I am a nut over china! I would have several sets, if Michael wasn't the voice of reason. When I was little, my mom and I would walk through the big fancy department store, like Macy's and look at all the china place settings longingly. Still do!

Our dinner will be sausage tortellini soup. See Tina, what you did!

Sarah is here waiting for her Dad to finish his work conference call. Then they are leaving to go shopping.

Need to keep busy today. It is 19 years since my mom passed. My cousin Patty, wondered when she passed, what day did our Grandmother die, she thought it was the same day. No, Grandma was the day before, the 9th of December. My mom and her mom always did everything together.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! We are clear and fairly cold here. I’m just trying to stay warm. The Hooligans and I will be walking Ava and Choc pretty soon. DH wants me to take a quick road trip with him, and I will go to grocery store over there in prep for Christmas cooking.

Mary—we definitely don’t have cougars here, although we have bobcats which do damage. And, the coyotes are all around. We hear them at night and see them in the daytime. One of the neighbors’ dogs got badly mauled a few weeks ago. Fortunately for her, she is a spunky little mini Husky and was able to get away. Her survival was touch and go for over a week, but she is bouncing around again. I’m glad the car went by and Scottie didn’t get to take it on… whatever it was!!!

Tina—a belated happy birthday! Love your gifts, but especially your clock! That is really special! You are definitely loved by all—special treatment for a special lady!

Jana—wow! Cougars in town!!! We have deer in town and the occasional fox or sometimes a “lost” coyote, but no cougars! There are definitely raccoons that make town home and raid the garbage cans at night. I love tortellini soup! I know you miss your mom! My mom passed on her aunt’s birthday. It’s odd how they pick the same day or almost the same day.

Becca—we give “dead presidents” at our house. The color is right, and it always fits!!! The adults like it, and the kids are giddy over the cash. It sure works for us. I like your dinner selection!!!

Irish—it was good to see you back! Are you for sure buying the home by your sister? Mom and my aunt lived across the street from each other for years. Neither wanted to give up their privacy or move in to the other’s house.

Becky—great to see you here! Sounds like you had a great Thanksmus! I think that’s such a great idea.

Our Christmas dinner will be here. I’ll be making lasagna, fettuccini Alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, and everyone else will bring the accompaniments.

Dinner tonight—I have a selection of leftovers… steak, chop or chicken. I’ll let DH have his pick, and I’ll make something to go with it (probably broccoli). I might do some pasta and/or salad.

Bon appétit!

PS. It was morning when I started this. Then it was brunch, dog walking and a trip to Independence. DH wanted something there, and I went to a couple of stores and finally found gluten free pasta for my Christmas cooking. Now, I have a bill to pay, and I’m headed to my sewing room!
