SUPPER CLUB - Friday, August 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 02, 2019 7:31 am

Good morning!

We are to have a bit of a stormy day today with cooler temps before going back up to 80's for the weekend. Nice! Yesterday was nearly a lost day. I cleaned out two dresser drawers before we left for Seattle. Took us 1-1/2 hrs to get there on the back roads because I-5 was blocked for an accident. We finally found Uncle Ernie and they had just given him a pain med and he was OUT! Neither Bill nor I could wake him. Even the nurse tried. So we wrote him a note and fought our way back home again - another 1-1/2 hrs through nearly stand-still freeway traffic. Poor dog - his supper was late! Bill is meeting his cousin today to brainstorm what to do with Uncle Ernie - rehab for two months and then home or move him to assisted living? There may be signs of dementia beginning. Is it the meds he's getting in the hospital or is it him? Hard to tell as he lives alone and we don't see him often as he lives 40 north of us in Seattle and 40 miles south of Bill's cousin.

Today I will finish all the 'small chores' (I hope) (packing and cleaning) connected with our flooring project. Trying to get that all done because our friends are coming on Monday to help move the big stuff like heavy furniture, toilet, vanity, wood stove. With their help, we might be ready TOO soon and twiddling our thumbs. lol! Maybe then I'll have time to sew! I want to make Bill's sister and DBIL a quilt for their new home though pattern, color, size is yet to be determined.

CHICKIE - did you enjoy your storms or not? If it left you in a mud wallow, maybe not, but you probably needed the rain. Good for you for powering through your Yoga, even without power! and for answering your sister's immediate request. We should all have a sister (and daughter!) as good as you! I think a cow-themed baby quilt for the upcoming little one is the purrfect idea! I love Elizabeth Hartman's patterns, but I don't think she's done any farm animals yet.

JANA - I'm thinking you don't mind finishing up Sarah's projects one little bit! lol! What an undertaking - to cook for a lot of people. I have trouble just figuring out Bill's supper sometimes. That's why I love our supper club! Ideas! Yes, it would be nice if Bill's uncle would agree to go to assisted living - or even simply senior living! If he doesn't, someone is going to have to constantly be checking on him. Especially if this event ends his driving. Living so far from any family at all (through AWFUL traffic to get to him!) will be a heavy responsibility on Bill and his cousin. It will be an all-day thing just to take him to a dr appt. The uncle's older brother (age 98) also just had a stroke (his 4th) an finally had to move from assisted living to a nursing home. So cousin's plate has been full.

BECCA - I think I read in sew-in that you are almost finished with the doggie quilt for the boy twin! and that your police were grateful for the bears you made. How sweet!

TINA - is something going on with your dad?

I think supper will be pork chops tonite with something on the side - potatoes? rice? pasta? stuffing? Salad for sure.

Good morning!

Mary - I have driven in your Seattle traffic! The Bay Area is bad, but we had tons of freeways. Here, we have one main freeway and some belt routes around it. Keeps my Aaron hopping! Prayers for a solution with Bill's uncle.

Yes, Sarah keeps me busy! Always has, even in high school. All the music events and then she was on student council, never has stopped! Next week while she is at camp, Ethan will be here with us. Then on the next to last day, we will drive her DH up to camp. Ethan will ride up too. Joseph loves looking at the stars and planets with his huge telescope. He will take it up to camp and show and teach the girls with the telescope. So in order not to have 2 cars up at camp for Sarah and DH, we will drive him up and Ethan can see mom for a short time. Camp is not far away, just up the canyon from Ogden, north of us. About a hour or so.

Dinner - the other half of the chicken breasts I did last night. I split one in half, lengthwise for us and that is plenty. I did some roasted potato slices I found at Costco as well. Last night was BBQ'd, tonight will be my baked parmesan chicken and a salad. I even made a very old fashioned treat - one I had as a child - chocolate frosting on a graham cracker. It tasted yummy to me! I make them for the grands too.

Well, Michael is done mowing the yard. He will now want his breakfast - he waits on food, because it gets too hot outside to mow unless it is early.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from a warm, sunny, gorgeous summer day here in SW. Pa....We did have rain over night but it's all gone now and just made the grass and weeds grow.....If nothing else, we do have lots of green stuff, weeds and bushes I didn't know of are growing like crazy....

Mary, so sorry to hear about Bill's uncle...I know how you feel about wondering if it's the meds or maybe starting dementia...Although Jim didn't take meds, I still wonder, why??? I think it would be great to be ready too soon, you need a break....Nothing serious wrong with my feet, I just have those nasty little tumors that need shot every once in awhile...I've had quite a few surgeries to have them removed, they now feel I shouldn't have any more so thus the shots...Then the next day, I went to the tummy man and he's coming up with some new stuff...Feels I might have a problem with milk products (in my old age????) and also feels the diverticulitis is causing most of the problem and we might have to have a grand opening...I just love hearing such good news, lol....But, we'll see....
Yesterday was my sister's birthday so I took her to lunch, then we went to bingo and had a party...I had baked cupcakes, smuggled them in to bingo and we sang..She was quite surprised..AND during bingo, one of her son's had flowers delivered...It was a great day...I think she was more than pleased and even won a couple $$.....

Just had a call from the neighbor asking if I had old newspapers...She's a girl scout leader and she's taking the girls away for the weekend and must have a project for them....This gal is special, married a guy with 2 boys, lost a set of twins, fostered and adopted a troubled girl and then had a little girl of their own...She homes schools the girls and is so involved with anything and everything that has to do with kids...
I think today might be to do the living room windows..Normally, I'd have the winter drapes down by now but, other things keep getting in the way, lol....You know how it used to be with the spring cleaning???Well, I'm a few springs behind...

My dinner might be left over's from yesterday's lunch...Either that or just a toasted cheese sandwich with tomato....My sister did give me some banana/nut bread so I'll have goodies for afters....

Neighbor is here, gotta go....

You all have a great day...

Happy eating...................
