Good Wednesday morning! We had thunderstorms in the night. I don’t know the official inches—will find out from DH when he gets back from coffee; he checked the rain gauge on his way—but DS2 who lives about 2 miles south as the crow flies received 3”. I’m sure my walk to walk Ava today will be squishy on the dirt road.
I worked on some practice pieces for my free motion quilting on the placemats and table runners yesterday. I’m actually pretty pleased with my efforts. I decided on a design and got one of the placemats quilted. For once, I was happy with how it looked.
Yesterday when I walked, DS3’s girlfriend was home when I went over to snag some plums from the trees there. She had a project for me. Twelve years ago, her brother died. Before he died, he had piced the fabrics for a quilt, and Keri’s mom had someone piece it into a log cabin quilt. It has been in a bag waiting to find someone willing to quilt it. Well… I walked home carrying my water bottle, a sack of plums, a sleeve of batting, and the quilt in a bag. It is a blue and orange quilt—very pretty in complimentary colors—looks like El’s QIAD Log Cabin, and now it’s on my design wall relaxing. I’ll use simple walking foot quilting on it. I know Keri’s mom will be happy to have it finished. So, I have more projects!
Becca—I used to make blueberry muffins, but didn’t have any blueberries. I Googled a recipe for blackberry muffins and found one with almost five stars and went for it. Yum! I think CA has it right—chocolate is a food group! Chocolate makes every day better. I keep dark chocolate in the freezer for those days when I really NEED a square of it! Your family is always doing such nice things for you! The memory book will be special!
I know the rest of you are out there somewhere—busy, of course! I hope you are getting in some quilting along with all the daily business.
Late yesterday, DH needed to go to the lumberyard, so we picked up pizza on the way home. We have leftovers for tonight… and, of course plums! These are purple orbs of juicy sweet sunshine from DS3’s tree. I think I need one now!
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Chickie - what a sweetie you are, with everything on your plate, to take on this quilt. I so need to stop complaining!
Not much here. Sewing down the sequin appliques and giving it back to Kate's sister. Down to the last couple of swap blocks. My kitchen floor needs lots of attention, Lila made a disaster of it, under her high chair!
Dinner is leftover nacho fixings. Most of the family were here for dinner last night and we did that for all of us.
Off to mop,
Enjoy,
Jana
