SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, April 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Apr 04, 2019 3:40 am

Good morning!

The birds are singing at top volume this morning. Should be a good day if they have anything to say about it!

Our supper last night turned out delicious, if I do say so myself! Even the gravy, always an iffy thing with me, was purrfect. Our guests were 81, 88, 89, and 89. And as predicted, the talking and laughter went on for almost 5 hours! They are a vibrant, active group.

Today's plan is to clean the kitchen, take my walk, sew backing for Alaska quilt, massage appointment, pack clothes into trailer. And nothing else! I may stop at Goodwill while out to my appt. I want to find a goofy thing or two to leave in our friend's yard when we visit them in Oregon at the end of our camping trip.

LORI - Bill's ex-in-laws lived in SoCal and he said he really liked sitting in their back yard covered patio. And it was a year-round thing. we love our covered deck but definitely not year round! Unless we take out the propane warmers and wrap up in quilts and hug hot drinks! lol! I like sewing outside, too. I set up at picnic tables while camping and sew with generator power sometimes if no electricity. Nothing like sewing out in the woods next to a rushing river!

TINA - I've been in your yard - though your back yard only once when I came with my sister. There is always something new and fun to see! Wish those lilacs had been in bloom then! Lilacs and sweet peas are my favorite flowers!

BECCA - yes, never a lull in the action at our house! Our 'boys' keep us hopping for sure! They run our lives. I loved your photo! Seriously, with you and your CA the the head of your gene pool, it's easy to see why all your kids, grands, and greats are such good lookin' people! How is your DGS doing after his allergic reaction? Was that Levi?

I saw a picture on FB of Irish and her sister, Joann, next to a snowbank in Tahoe. They are having a good time and touring lots of places in CA!

Supper last night was as billed: pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade applesauce, and brussels sprouts gratin. and we have enough for tonite so no cooking, just heating-up for us!

Hello everyone, gorgeous day here.Lots of Birds singing & activity seeking mates.Even seen lizards out again.

Maryz This is Chris,Alex’s youngest son.He used the epi pen but then he passed out .
He is going to specialist yesterday & today.Allergist believes it to be the bite of the tick that causes you to be allergic to red meat.Hes not doing good because of the steroids. He is highly allergic to shellfish too.Alex said he & Tamara His Wife are real worried because they don’t know cause yet.
Your picture of Kitty is a hoot.Like he owns the table.lol Glad the party was fun for all.You & Bill must have felt like teenagers.lol
Thanks for your comment on my family. We are proud of them.

Tina I too love lilacs, most any kind of flowers I love.Sure your yard is beautiful.

Lori I love the outdoors.Any place to sit beats being ina closed house unless it’s Winter.
Glad the kids enjoyed surfing.

I got my walk in early because it’s to be warm today. We are having banned food again.Sorry Maryz But it’s good for me.And salad & green beans for CA. Becca

Good morning! We have April showers, but I hope they bring morel mushrooms in the next day or two! I’ve been absent—mainly in taking care of Mom. My BIL had knee replacement surgery yesterday. My other sister is with Mom today, but I will be back in there tomorrow and Saturday. I think I meet myself coming and going.

MaryZ—love the kitty pic! My sister’s dog counter surfs, and I have to be careful where I leave things. He got a loaf of homemade bread the first time I left it on the counter… oops!!! Thanks for the Irish update!

Becca—hope the allergist gets to the root of Chris’s problems. That’s so scary! After I returned from taking care of Mom yesterday, I got in a walk—so warm and pretty, but windy. I hope to get in a walk later—if the rain stops.

Dinner tonight—fajitas and salad. I think there may be some brownies in the freezer for after.

Bon appétit!

Becca, I hope Alex's son will be okay.

Maryz, that looks like my house. hahaha The cats have their noses in a snit because we have company.

Well we make the pasta last night. It was terrible and I have to pull a box from the cupboard. We followed the recipe that came with the pasta rollers to the letter. So disappointing. Will have to try a different recipe and see how it works.

Last night my nephew put way too much toilet paper in the toilet and it blocked up. Because the baths are back to back, both of our toilets are unusable. Someone is on the way now. They said they couldn't snake the drain from the roof at night. We should have just called someone else. More water came up last night and overflowed onto the carpet. UGH!

Don't know what dinner will be tonight. Need to resolve this issue first.

Have a lovely day. Lori

Good morning!

Lori - try Lidia Bastanich - she is on PBS, a great italian cook and I use her pasta recipe alot. It is really simple and can be done in a food processor, then rolled out using a pasta machine. What I have learned is that you need to rest the dough before rolling and then after you have rolled out the sheets of dough, let then dry a bit, just about 10 minutes before trying to use the machine to cut the pasta into fettucini. My machine makes a royal mess of angel hair. Oh yes, lots of flour on the dough as you roll and cut. Lidia has videos on how to fold, roll and cut pasta. Don't give up, it is the best tasting pasta ever!

Chickie - more showers heading your way. The storm door here is open and we are getting storms every couple of days.

Mary - I have Foxy's doppleganger here at this house - it is Ethan's favorite stuffed cat. You would swear that was my cat sitting on your table! And those were the same chairs here too, but they now live up at Sarah's.

Becca - it is finally getting warm here too. Things need to get done early.

Well, it is class tonight, so the car may know the way for dinner.

We are in between rain storms and they are melting the snow slowly, which is a good thing. Reduces the chsnce of flooding.

So far I have power, phone and internet. They are replacing the road base up the road from my house, readying it for paving.

I have given Michael a challenge in designing my counters and a couple of cabinets in the Batt Cave. He will draw it up and contact our cabinet maker. We found a place that will custom make my laminate countertops. Soon I will have it done!

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi everyone! :)
Mary, sounds like a very fun evening! Love Foxy LOL my mommy kitty is opposite of him I think, she has more white than black.
Becca, how scary! I hope they find what's causing the allergies ASAP!
Chickie, you are meeting yourself coming and going, I hope you get some sewing time in. Lori, sorry about the pasta. I've never tried making anything like that except egg noodles.....I don't think there even close to what you're trying though.
Jana, hopefully you'll keep having a slow melt. We could really use some rain down here!
It's a beautiful day here! Birds are very happy too! I watched a hummer in my waterfall for awhile this morning, I love watching them. I was off on off on yesterday about watching the boys. They wanted to come stay here then didn't, then did, then didn't LOL I wasn't sure what I was doing. I stayed in except for letting the chickens out yesterday, I seriously hate the wind! Dad came for leftovers last night I have the boys today, Easton had an Cray yesterday on his chest, the Dr said it wasn't pneumonia but he has fluid in his lungs, he's on antibiotics now and staying away from school till Monday. He's coughing a lot less today thankfully.
I have a total of 7 lilac bushes, 3 are reblooming ones, I really love them! I did some watering this morning while the boys could go out with me and Easton could soak up some sunshine while there's no wind ordirt blowing, he was so tired though he could only stay out about 5-10 minutes at a time.
Supper tonight is smoked sausage, leftover Mac n cheese and applesauce.

I keep forgetting to share this tidbit of info with you. There is a member of the State Board of Education that lives in my Ward. I have taught Activity Days with her and she and I do not share the same views on education. Well, not many around here do as well, but the good news is that she and her family have taken a job in the Dallas Texas area and will be moving, thus opening up her seat on the Board of Education. We have another good friend, he works on the Governor's staff for school development of curriculum and is recommending Sarah to fill the seat that will be opening up. Originally when this seat was up for election, he wanted Sarah to run for it. So Sarah may add another hat to her collection, state elected office! This may be awhile until they make a decision on this seat, the holder isn't moving until June and we all know how slow the government works and moves. But we will see....
