SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Feb 23

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Feb 23, 2019 3:41 am

Good morning!

We had lots of falling snow yesterday, but nothing stuck. There is a possibility of more later next week but USUALLY those predictions fizzle. But this has been a weird year so we'll see.

I've only got borders to put on the last of my three quilts made from my 30's swap blocks. They are all throw size, and probably for donation. I only have 3 UFO's left! Whoo Hoo! Since we have no other weekend plans, I'll keep plugging along on them.

BECCA - you must be tiring of your rain by now! Seems every night on the national news we hear of the 'next big storm' and it almost always brings you rain and brings Irish snow. I hope you can bring your blood levels back to where the doctor wants them.

JANA - my nephew in Idaho has a business plowing snow but he sure doesn't get $750/hr! I bet he wishes he did, though. And while he still has a home here in WA, I don't think he was the one you saw on the news. But his wife posted that piece on FB, I think. If he was, I'm going to make sure he knows I'm his favorite aunt! Glad they caught the cougar and were able to relocate him. Poor hungry kitty.

TINA - at the last elections, your new governor, and the transition between your old and new governor, made our news. I was wondering if things were going to change for you.

Tonight we are heating high on the cow - I have a nice little roast. I'm trying to decide if I want to put it into the oven or the crockpot - roasted with potatoes & carrots or have mashed potatoes and asparagus. Decisions! But at least you have the menu if not the cooking method.

Edited to say that Bill has voted for oven and mashed potatoes. And now you know the rest of the story.

Good morning!

Michael is up and playing on Google maps, looking for evidence of where the earthquake faults could be. Lookking at the lay of the land and how the rivers take abrubt turns. He loves maps and studies them all the time. I am getting quite a lesson on possible fault locations. Last night's quake was a 3.1 and came from the same direction as the ohes last week. We have had over 100 that you didn't feel, as they were 2.0 or so.

Got my batting, fusible and groceries. I use Soft Fuse, but the new batting store has a fusible that is slightly tacky when you remove the paper backing, so it is easier to get in the right spots. Then you use your iron to fuse it.

I also ordered a new quilt pattern, Sincerely Yours, a embroidery machine applique quilt. Similar looking to a Baltimore Album.

The batting is Hobbs batt and also learned about a special batt, designed for Linda Taylor, a well known LAer. She has won many major awards for her quilts. I took a feather class from her once. She is amazing! The batt has a high loft on the top and a flat back and takes well to being hung for display and keeping it's shape. I have a couple of tops I will use that batt for, even though they will only be hung in my home.

Dinner last night was soup - I made a double batch, so I could freeze for future meals. It was too hot to put in my house refrigerator, so out on the deck it went, the deck was 9 degrees! Dinner tonight is still to be decided.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from another wet, soggy, dreary day in SW. Pa...BUT, I'm not letting that bother me, no way!
Kathy is, as we speak, winging her way east and will be here for a whole week...But, you know where we'll be???? Meeting up with some of the family for dinner on the way home from the airport and then meeting with my sister and some of her family for breakfast in the morning and then she and I are on our way to Carlisle to snuggle, smooch, spoil our baby, Lena....So, I'll be gone for the week and you know, there will plenty of kisses planted on that little one....

Not able to stay and chat....It's been a busy day and I have tons to do in 2 hours...I had a call this morning to pick up Kelly and was so happy to get her back home....These people were so special and would you believe, when I left, he carried Kelly out to the car and belted her in...In another month or so, she'll be with Jim....
I'm kind of glad I'm busy today, kind of takes my mind of things, this being a year since Jim passed...Really hard to believe, still vision him coming home...Still hurts so much.....

On that note, better run....Not sure what dinner might be but none of us will starve.....

You all have a great day....Not sure if I'll be able to check in next week or not......Love to all

Happy eating................
