SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Jan 14
Good morning!
This morning we are starting for home!! It's been a nice visit with Cindy and Don. Yesterday Cin and I worked in my trailer on my swap blocks and we got them all finished - unless someone else joins at the last minute as sign-ups are still open. (I tried to talk Cindy into joining). If that happens, it's no big deal to sew up blocks for just one or two more people. Then we had a wonderful surprise! Autumn and Aaron came out to visit for a few hours and brought pizzas! so we had one more day with them. It was a 1-1/4 hr drive each way - about the same as from where we were camped in the other campground. So nice to be able to say goodbye to my girl in a pretty place like this campground than on a busy street and watch her walk away. I'm good now. I can leave happily.
so this morning, we start for Deming where we'll meet up with my sister, Tina, who is leaving Colorado and also hitting the road this morning. I'll have a quick visit with OUR Tina Wed. evening.
TINA - I saw your cookbook collection on FB. Have you actively collected them or have they just 'happened' over the years? I guess I actually have about half that many. I'm not sure why - I only actually use my old Betty Crocker! lol! But some of them are Taste of Home and some of my own recipes are printed in them, so of course, I have to save THOSE! And some are gifts and some are souvenirs of places we've been. I can't get rid of any of them! lol!
IRISH - the bail fun is intact and awaits your adventure! You say you will be trying to keep everyone in control? HA!! I'm betting you're the ring leader!! Which Patterson Book are you reading? My DBIL was reading one and I asked - well, I better not tell you what I asked him - I gave away a lot inadvertantly about the Alex Cross series that he hadn't known about yet. lol!
VELDA - sloppy joes are good eatin' yet something I never think of to cook! Darn me! Cindy and Don's appointment is here in Bastrop at 4:30. And hour to get all their tires on and then at least 3, maybe 4 hours before they get home after taking their trailer back to storage. I hate for them to have to have such a late night on the road.
CHICKIE - yoo hoo!!! I hope you didn't slip and take another header in all that snow you had!
BECCA - how are you feeling today?
Since we had a surprise pizza delivery yesterday, we didn't eat our scramble, so tonite's the night! We hope to be parked at the Fairgrounds in Sonora, TX tonite. Weather should be pretty nice!

Good morning
Mary, I actively collect them, I fell in love with my first one;Mom gave it to me. I actually loved the one she had and ended up with it as the only thing I wanted for Christmas in 2016, its been very loved over the years but I still wanted it and will cherish it forever. I have more that aren't in the picture and I need to get those organized into 1 place. I passed on this obsession to both of my kids and Jazmyne so far, we all love cookbooks and cooking LOL
We're having chicken and rice tonight and maybe asparagus.
Tina

Good morning! We are still snow covered here, but it’s just a light blanket of a couple of inches—so glad it’s not FEET! With all the rain we had prior to the snow, it’s just muddy to the max! You know what that means to my floors! I have to work on them several times a day.
I had dog yoga this morning with Boomer. For some crazy reason, he was all over me “helping” as best he could with the poses—mainly wanting pets and cuddles. And, since he had been outside—very cold, wet paws!
Saturday morning, I drove to town with just a few pretty flakes in the air. By the time my friend and I had coffee, the ground was covered, and the streets were SLICK! Mom and I had lunch, and I drove home. About a mile from the hacienda on a gravel road, I hit a slick spot and almost ended up in the ditch. You would be proud of my AJ Foyt driving skills in getting straightened out and back on the straight and narrow. I’m tired of the snow. It can go away now!!! I stayed inside yesterday and worked on floors and my friend’s quilt blocks. The blocks are finished, and I’ll start arranging them into the top. The back will be pieced with blocks and fat quarters of batiks I have on hand. It is definitely a colorful quilt!
Mary—sounds like a fun time with Don and Cindy! So sorry they have had all their difficulties with the HVAC, tires and scratch… Maybe three things and that’s the end. And, a surprise pizza party! Lucky you!!! …”on the road again, on the road again”… safe travels to you! … “ho-ooom-ward bound”… Hi to Tina when you stop in there!
Tina—I love cookbooks and read them like novels. I’ll never make the recipes, but it’s fun to read and think of what they could be.
Irish—I wish we lived closer! We could deplete Mary’s bail fund in no time!
Velda—sorry you weren’t able to join the crew at the lake. We haven’t had sloppy joe’s in ages here. I need to make a note of them.
Becca—so sorry you all have been under the weather! Hope you are feeling better.
I’m on Choc and Ava duty today. It will be cold, but I think I’ll put on boots and try to walk at noon. It seems to have been ages since I did any road work. I just had a text, and there is banana cake to bring home from Ava’s. That will be dessert! Dinner will be something with hamburger… maybe sloppy joes…
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
I too love cookbooks! Sarah as well. I have my mom's old, falling apart, well used and loved Betty Crocker cookbook. The one with the red cover and white writing. It is the one I used growing up. Although my copy now has a mushroom themed contact paper on the cover. Mom did that as the cover was getting quite worn and dirty. Awhile ago, Sarah found me a reprint copy, but I still grab the mushroom copy. Latest obsession of cookbooks are the ones from Pioneer Woman. She has some very yummy recipes!
I don't have any dogs or kitties to track in mud and dirt on my floors - I have grandchildren! Last night all were over for dinner and dessert after was a chocolate bundt cake, brownies, and rice krispy treats. Today I have splochtes of said goodies that need to be mopped up.
Besides the floor, Gracie did a number on Michael's computer in the Batt Cave. He had put the computer to sleep, but she managed to turn it on and pushed who knows what keys and messed up his work. Thank goodness, Michael is very methodical in backing up his work. He saves it to the two other computers in the house and on two different USB drives, each and every time. So the work isn't lost, he just needs to see what damage Gracie did to the main computer and what it will take to recover. She even unplugged stuff from the back of the computer. I haven't seen all the destruction down in the Batt Cave all the grands did, but a new rule is in effect - no one under 22 is allowed in the Batt Cave without me or Grandpa! Of course, there is a exception, Ethan. He is the one who doesn't touch or get into things that are not his. The others, are on Grandma's list!
So after a few major uglies, upstairs, I will be headung yo the Batt Cave for major uglies there.
Dinner - baked chicken and a salad. No afters, they were demolished yesterday!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from another very sunny but cold, SW. Pa...We only have a couple inches of snow and the roads are fine but it's so nice to just be able to stay inside.....
Mary, what a great surprise and then to bring Pizza, Wow! I'd say, you raised that girl right......I stayed up until about 3:00 again this morning and finished my book...It's The Murder House by Patterson and it's a dandy but I found parts that were so familiar and I'm thinking, I had to have read parts of it before or had heard about it...I have another to start, "Alert" and then also have 2 on reserve at the Library....I do enjoy his books and have read a lot of the Alex Cross ones....
And speaking of books, I have a bunch of cook books but my favorite is the old Betty Crocker with quite a few worn pages...Everyone in the family had to have a BC cook book and when Terry and now ex were going through what each one wanted, property wise, knowing Terry did all the cooking and used that book, she decided she wanted that book...Now here's a gal who didn't know the difference between the fridge and the stove but she had to have that book...Well, Terry went though the book and removed quite a few of his favorites, knowing she'd never notice....Just last year, I was at a Flea market and found him his new book...We have a feeling when the ex moved back to this area, that book was still in the box that it was in when she moved out of their house.....
"Ring leader", me???? You know, it's hard work keeping up my image....But, I do have your cell # on speed dial, just in case.....And, we're going by Southwest airlines so we can change our return and stay later...My sister said, as long as she has her meds with her, she doesn't care how long we stay...I'm finally teaching her the good life, lol.....
Chickie, Oh boy, I sure do wish we lived closer...I wouldn't join you in yoga but I'd watch and play with the fur kids....And instead of that bail money fund, we might need to set up a "go fund" or whatever they are called.....
Becca, thinking about you and praying you'll be back at the table real soon....Feel better......
Tina, your obsession is a good one....I think I'm like Chickie, I love to read through them and my Kevin's wife is the same way but she goes one better and actually does a lot of cooking from her books...She collects the old ones that church ladies or club ladies put together...I have 1 of Jim's Mom's books and what a treat to look through and see her writing and remember.....Also have a few of my Mom's recipes but her's were mostly in her head...So many good memories.....
Jana, thank goodness for back ups, right? A couple of weeks ago, Tim's youngest DGS (the monster) got into her spare room, messed with the computer and opened boxes of Christmas stuff that she had stored and even broke some ornaments...Her rule is much like your's and she'd also like to add, "the monster" is to be left at home from now on......
I've spent most of the morning going through clothes, putting away the Christmas things, throwing away some, sorting through others and wondering why in the world one person has to much....But, what a great feeling to make some progress.....
And I also have had messages from Nick and Terry....Nick has been kicking around the idea of joining the Air Force, much like his brother and he was meeting with a recruiter this morning...He told me he took a test and scored very high and is well qualified to go into a security type program...So now, we wait and see...I might be making a trip to North Carolina to help pack up his apartment when it comes time for him to leave....He has a good head on his shoulders and will go far in whatever choice he makes....Oh my, I hate to see these kids grow up!
As far as dinner, that's iffy....Since it's after 3:00 and I just had lunch, that bag of chips might be it, later tonight......
You all have a great day.........
Happy eating..........
