SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 6

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jan 06, 2019 1:00 am

Good morning!

Our Seahawks lost to the Dallas Cowboys last night. Sad face. That's it for us for another year.

We were 73 degrees and sunny yesterday! Whoo Hoo! We sat outside and simply soaked it up for an hour. It will be just as warm today, though partly cloudy, I think, as more 'weather' will be moving in by Tuesday.

Bill also decreed that we were going to empty our basement storage area and repack for the long trip home. So this we did. Truly, I think he's more anxious than I am to hit the road for WA. He just won't admit it. Then we grocery shopped and did a couple other errands. I had the afternoon to cut and bag more FGV blocks for a total of 23 now. The pattern has 48 so I'm almost halfway done cutting.

Autumn and Aaron will be here about noon so I have some cleaning to do this morning - picking up loose fabrics, sweeping, bathroom, etc. I'll make potato salad as soon as I finish this post. We'll have beans and raw veggies, too, to go with our burgers. And a variety of cookies from the bakery. And if I get busy and do my chores, I might have time to cut out a few more blocks!

IRISH - sounds like your high tea was fun. The famed Empress Hotel in Victoria, B.C. serves a beautiful high tea, always at 4pm. Glad Nick is loving his new major!

VELDA - our loss.

BECCA - Was your hubby able to get his blood work yet? Too bad the lab doesn't make house calls. I wonder if you could get an EMT to come draw his blood and you could deliver it to the doctor . . .

Well, you know our supper = now, what's the plan for yours?

Hi, MaryZ, guess no one else is eating tonight. Hamburgers with anything sounds really good. Rod thawed out some chili from the freezer so guess that will be our supper. I will make some cornbread at suppertime. Love chili in cold weather.

It is cold and grey here and been raining off and on. Thought it was supposed to warm up but guess not. Rain moving in tonight and tomorrow. I kind of liked the sunshine. Less depressing and not quite so hard on old achy bones and muscles for old folks like us.

I spent the afternoon at our son's house. Rod stayed home and watched a marathon of football games. I can only handle so much of that.

My DIL, DGD, Son and I all worked on making handmade cards for various occasions. DIL is putting together a group of about 12 cards for all occasions and/or holidays. they will be pkgd up nicely and put into a raffle basket for her work with lots of other things her coworkers are contributing too.

She works for the school dist and they do this every spring to raise money for a charity foundation that helps poor families in the dist boundaries. They have a big Gala Ball too and lots of stuff being raffled off.

We make our own cards these days so all got together and did diff holidays. Came up with a cute asstmt. Leaving inside blank so some could be used for any occasion.

My son is getting good at making cards too and so much creativity, always his own ideas but good at it. And this kid flunked coloring in kindergarten. Guess he is all grown up now at 50. WE are trying to get Rod (my DH) interested but he doesn't want to do it. Every one has their own ideas and is fun to see what others come up with.

Rod is doing a little better these days but depends a lot on weather and how much walking he has to do. He has apptmt to get a C-Pap machine this coming week. He isn't sleeping well and stops breathing a lot in his sleep. Hoping it will help some with sleeping anyway.

We are both recovering from some kind of flu/virus bug that is going around. Now we just sort of have colds but not too bad. Rough flu tho, praying none of you have to deal with it. Ache so badly plus all the other yucky stuff when you have the flu.

Need to scoot and think about fixing that cornbread for supper. I am hungry, ate and ran at noon. Hope this finds everyone well and happy and ready to face the New Year head on with dreams and ideas and smiles and fill it with memories for old age.

Irish..... Love the idea of High Tea. We have been to England twice, our son was stationed there way back when. I never had tea with the Queen but toured the castle grounds and botanical gardens there. Lovely place if you get a chance to go visit the queen someday.

Velda......Glad you are settled in for the winter. Sometimes it is hard to pack house and all and move around a lot. Enjoy Texas this yr. You are so busy all the time.....know it makes you happy there.

Becca....sorry to hear all the problems trying to get DH's blood work done. Not fun when you have to stand by and feel so helpless when your loved one is having so many problems. Prayers for both of you today and always.

God bless everyone today and all your tomorrows too. Love and hugs, Shirley Mae

Good afternoon!

Mary - watched the game with you last night. I think the outcome and the way the coaches had to call the game would have been very different if the injuries had not plagued the Seahawks. Glad the homeward bug has biten Bill. Home is great!

Shirley Mae - so happy to see you are doing better. Rod too. Tough getting old, but then again we are able to do hard things!

Dinner - it is Sunday, so we will find what is in the refrig, a bag of chips or a bowl of Cheerios. I need to refill my soup supply for the freezer.

Aaron was called out to duty with today's snow storm. We didn't get much, just about 4 inches, but there were many slide offs. While he was on duty, he was priviledged to close lanes on the freeway for the processional of the officer who was killed in the line of duty last night. The processional was returning the officer's body to where the funeral will be held.

Well, it is getting dark and maybe more snow, but we are home and warm!

Enjoy,
Jana
