SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday 27 November

Post by FarmChick » Tue Nov 27, 2018 5:14 am

Good morning! The mints are finished and ready for the wedding. I decorated a bunch of chocolate mint discs with antlers as they are using lots of deer antlers in the décor. I also made hearts, hearts on hearts, roses in red and white, poinsettias and green leaves to look like holly or evergreen—oh, and discs that have an S on them for their last name. Those are in tan.

Yesterday afternoon, DH wanted to go on a road trip to get a used router and table he had found online. So, we loaded up and off we went around 100 miles to Nevada, Missouri. DH purchased the router, and on the way home we stopped at Fort Scott, Kansas and had supper with his brother and wife. It was a super fun visit. They were as happy to see us as we were to see them. And, they have the cutest little dog named Sparky that reminds me of my first little dog.

Mary is relaxing on South Padre Island with her DH and friends. The climate is balmy, and I know that we are all envious when we are freezing in most areas.

Becca—what a great family you have! Sounds like you came home with loads of food so you don’t have to cook, plus all the great care you received! It’s good for others to see how much you do as caregiver.

Jana—that Ethan is a cutie!!! I still have some noodles left here, and that may be our dinner tonight. Yes, we have had those teen night temps here, too! I’m not sure I could store too much on my deck unless it was in locked containers!

Irish—Bet you are doing a jig with your laundry dance today! I wish I could send you noodles! Oh, we definitely have the wind in Kansas!!! We put a cut down cedar tree in the back of the orange truck for Christmas decoration, and it blew out of the truck the other night!!! I was surprised; the tree was HEAVY! There for awhile, DH wasn’t sure he was happy with his surgery when he was having the kidney stones, but he’s good with it now. He’s done real well with his weight loss. Just has to watch and not eat too much at a time. There’s a town in Missouri that declares school out on opening day of trout season. They don’t close for deer season here.

Vel—wonderful to get lost in sewing for the afternoon! I did an hour of yoga this morning. I try to do at least 40 minutes daily, but this morning, I got lost in exercise and was surprised when I checked my time. That’s pretty unusual!

Now that the mints are finished and kitchen cleaned up, I WILL be in my sewing room today and get my Christmas sewing started!

Since we had dinner with DB and DSIL last evening, we still have the aforementioned chicken and noodles as well as broccoli salad for dinner. Guess we’re covered here.

Bon appétit!

Good morning all,
I've composed a couple posts, but have had trouble uploading them...ahh, computers!!! Rainy day here in Oregon...will continue to work on a mountain quilt wall hanging for our snowmobile club Chirstmas party gift exchange until our club meeting. My sweetie woke up with a sore throat, so I need to dust off my nursing skills...LOL!!!

Mary-we are not renovating our home. We sold our shop on the neighboring lot and so Tom built a new shop. I get a new sewing space out there next to his office and that is what we have been sheetrocking.

Well, better get cracking...breakfast isn't going to cook itself! Have a great day everyone!

Hello everyone, sunny here today after a cold start. In teens for 3 nites here.

Got my beds stripped and dressed. And my other laundry. After all the goings on yesterday I was tired last nite .Now it’s getunder the stairwell & organize & try to dig out wreaths.I always hang them first.Village & mantel next & tree last if there is one.Living with Scrooge I might not do one.Lol.

Chickie You are the mint machine. So glad DH is doing well & lost so much. One of my DGDs & Her DH just cut out sugar & they have dropped lbs.The DGD didn’t need to lose much but her DH did.
Yes Chickie It was nice to be loved & Appreciated. They are all so good to us.Guess they remember all of Gramas big feeds I used to do.And I took Carman cake, apple pie.applesauce, & dressing. They all loved that.

RN Your new sewing space must be nice.Hope DH gets better.

Irish The trip took a great toll on CA.But I feel The caregiver needed a break .And it helps me to be around family & friends. So I will help him deal with his pain .Hope all’s well in your neck of the woods.

We still have so much food to choose from. Can be roast beef, ham ,chicken. And lots of sides to choose from. Becca

Hello to everyone that joins us later.Missed you.

Good afternoon from a very cold, windy, snowy, SW. Pa...But, we only have a dusting while our neighbors north of us are getting much more....I think in the Lake Erie area, it's really bad....

Mary glad you're able to enjoy warmer weather, even though some of us are freezing our "you know what" off...Not too worry, we'll still love you....If you see any eagles flying around, tell them Hi from me...

Chickie, You are like Mary in getting things done so quickly...She with her quilts and you with the mints and all the other stuff you do....Just can't keep up with you.....I hope you post a picture of your mints.....

SewFast, so glad to see you join us, help yourself to the coffee/tea...You might never meet the gals here in person but just posting and reading, you'll think they are your best friends..And I honestly do consider them all to be family....Don't like to hear about DH's sore throat, hope your "tricks" work...And how great to have your own sewing space...I kind of took over our spare bedroom and made it into a sewing/bedroom, when the last got married...And during the period when Jim was in the home and then after he passed, I've been sleeping in that room...But, I can close the door and leave the clutter and not worry about it...

Becca. hoping your weather is nicer than our's...Not much snow here but it's brutal outside...When Jim was still at home, there were moments that were hard to handle and that's when I'd call one of the kids...I really did want them to see what was happening...It was my decision with their help to take Jim to the Memory Care home...Right now, I'd give anything to have him right here, sitting in his recliner....64 years just wasn't enough....

Another kind of lazy day, but will finish the main bathroom this afternoon (changing it from lacy pink for summer) to winter green...
A0nd then who knows what I might get into...I had a gal on FB want to know what goes into ShoFly Cake so I'm going to dig out the recipe and send it to....AND while the recipe is out, just might mix up one for your's truly....The idea is sounding better and better....

As for dinner, I did find some Torttelli, just might cover it with sauce and throw it in the oven....And will have my yummy cake for afters.....

You all have a great day, stay save...

Happy eating.............

Chickie; your mints sound devine! What a beautiful wedding this will be.
We had yoga today. It is very, very low key, and I would like to be doing a bit more, but we even have three men joining, so this is great!
Supper tonight is spaghetti and salad. I am starting another quilt top for my church group. Doing the same pattern.

Good late afternoon!

I am hiding under a cozy quilt. We lost power for a good part of the day and now the heater is trying to catch up and get the house warm. We will definetly start looking in earnest for a whole house generator. It is not caused by weather, but by contractors who are not paying attention to the underground utilities in my neighborhood. All utilities are underground here in my neighborhood, so they need to be more careful! This happens every three or four months!

So since we couldn't do much here at the house, we went up town shopping at one of my dangerous stores, one that has kitchen goodies! I got some new red and white placemats, more cookie cutters, a new red butter dish to replace the one that was broken and some more glasses for the kids to drink from, that won't break, and chocolate and parchment for candy making. Oh is the chocolate good - it is Callabot -my sp - for peanut butter cups, toffee, and dipping other goodies.

Well, dinner - a turkey sandwich, with cranberry sauce, stuffing and of course turkey!

See ya early tomorrow, I hope!

Jana
