Supper club. Thursday, Nov. 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Nov 15, 2018 1:23 am

Good morning!

Irish, 105 days until spring. Did you want to know anything about Winter yet? 39 days till Christmas. Fun to play cards and it’s so nice that the Card group has a solid and dependable substitute. Poor Harriet. Didn’t think I would like having to give birth to twins and triplets every single year!

Becca, you have quite the varied crew on your family! My aunt and uncle had their house wired for the big generator. All they had to do was push a button. It was great!

Chickie. I love dutch babies and made a few times. I used maple sausages and peaches for filling. We really like them. They got to be too much of a good thing, however, so I finally stopped making them. Love your haircut! Especially your pink dash on the wild side!

Jana, I love camping. I like being outside and sleeping outside. I miss the days of the tent and cooking over the fire, but I don’t miss sleeping on the ground or standing around a soggy smoky fire in the rain, or the walk to the outhouse (in the fancier campgrounds!) in the middle of the night. So the trailer is my happy compromise. I love Home to but I want to see more of the country. And we have. and I can't wait to see it all again! Alaska, here we come!! next June. Nice find, that Christmas wallhanging kit. I know it's beautiful if you made it. I bought a Skinnies book just before we left home because of you! lol!

Tina, well if we’re going to talk pies, Bill’s favorite is Apple. My favorite is sour cream lemon, followed by almost any Berry, especially raspberry. And coconut cream. and cherry. In fact, I don’t think there is any pie I don’t like though blueberry and raisin are low on my list.

Yesterday I got the trailer pretty well cleaned. Today I’m going to get the bathroom a good scrubbing - something you don’t have to do if you camp in a tent. LOL ! I actually had time to get out my sewing machine in the afternoon. I had several Gypsy Dancer II blocks already cut and put into labeled Ziploc’s. So I sewed seven blocks I think. I can’t wait till we go to Autumn’s tomorrow and I can get my Lori Holt vintage Christmas book. I brought about a dozen fabrics for it I may have to go shopping ...😉 Some of these GD blocks are small, so I simply used one of my CLEAN potholders for a pressing mat! Worked great!

I am going to take chicken out of the freezer for tonight. Bill has the grill all set up. We will either have hot cooked noodles or rice with it and a salad - the last of our fresh veggies. Looks like we'll have to hit the grocery store soon.

Last night we grilled pork chops and fried chopped sweet potato with sliced onion, & apples. It was delicious! All cooked outside in cast iron skillet. When camping we do as much cooking as possible outside.

Got any thoughts yet on your supper for tonite?

Good morning! I thought I would be late here today, but the hunters don’t want brunch until 11 o’clock. I have a lot ready to put together in an hour, so I’m ready.

I’ll see if Mary will post my hair cut photo. I went a little crazy and got a hot pink streak—told you I’m having a senior crisis! I’m really pleased with the cut and style. I told her Helen Mirin looks like she has hair like mine, so go for it.

Mary jumped on posting my photo like Boomer on a pork chop! So… Actually DH liked it. He didn’t even mind the color. I think what he liked was that I didn’t get it short and spiky. (I did think about it, but I don’t have thick enough hair to pull that off well.)

Well, now the guys want brunch at 10:30. One of the alternate beatitudes I try to live by is “Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.”

Irish—thank you for not thinking of me as an old lady! I think we are all still girls!!! My hair is the same platinum blonde I used to MAKE it be in my 20s and 30s!!! Now I don’t have to deal with roots! Sounds like you had a good day of socializing! It’s hard when members are sick, but good you can fill in. My MIL was in some bridge groups, and they had a list of subs to call. Those ladies were intense about “the game will go on!”

Mary—thank you, I think! I don’t have your patterns mailed yet, but I WILL! Do not think I’ve forgotten about them. So good to find your machine! If she knows where mine is hiding, have her tell you so I can find mine! Later today, I hope! I do like sweet potatoes that way! I’m using iron skillets this morning for my “babies”.

Guess I best get back to my stove and heat the oven. Just wanted to check in before the crowd arrives.

Dinner tonight—leftovers: pork fried rice and a cabbage mix that tastes like egg rolls without the deep frying.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

First off, love the hair, Chickie, even the pink! You go girl!

Mary - Stitch is very happy to be out and about again! It won't be long until Gypsy Dancer 2 is done.

Checked the fire - again - up to 40 percent containment, but so sad the loss of life keeps rising. Paradise was just on the edge of the forest and was a place many who wanted out of the high cost of housing retired too. My cousin, who lives in Napa, has a house in that vicinity, but I have no idea on if it is still standing. It was a vacation home. When the fires swept through Napa last year, she was safe and also from the earthquake that happened there too. Now I know why I left California! ;)

I will start quilting on my two table runners now I have the right color for the back. I also finished assembling a top from a swap that will be a gift for Crenda. It can head over to my LA. I have another that I will make for Kate this year.

Dinner tonight is leftover Chinese take out from last night. We have class tonight, so that will work well.

Still no voice, beginning to think it will never be back! Michael is loving that he has to answer all the phone calls - NOT! He hates the phone. Oh well ......

Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone,
Wow Chickie. You look great & I don’t think old either about any of us except myself.Trying to not think that way.I know those Hunters look forward to all your treats.

Maryz I left out the Web designer that works at NY Times.Guess Thats his title but not sure.We do have a variety .I loved camping but not in a tent.We Tried That once. Then got camper & had one for many years until sickness hit.Nothing like it.So great you get to travel all over.My DB & DSIL did that for 12 yrs until she passed.
We will enjoy our generator I know. Here you do have outages.Ours will switch to that automatic.Just wish we had done it years ago.It said you add value to Home .It will give peace of mind.

Jana Hoping your voice returns. And that cute snowman must be getting ready to hang on the wall.

Tina Hope things are good with your family. My favorite is lemon coconut cream,& blackberry & pecan. But I never eat them.I always made pecan both Thanksgiving and Christmas. And Pumpkin as many in the family love it especially 2 DGSs.

Irish Poor Harriet. That would be hard.Never Knew about the feather loss either.Very interesting.Great you can fill in for the games.

I got my running finished for today. And in the rain.Out again tomorrow. My new hearing aid comes in.We really enjoyed the grands & they were sad & didn’t want to leave. They are all very sweet & Mommy makes them mind which makes it a joy when they come.
We have beef stew left so that is will be. Becca

Good morning :)
Mary, my Dad's all time favorite is coconut cream! I love it warm out of the oven, even too warm for the slice to stay together, YUM!
Chickie, I need your recipe :)
Preston took a short nap yesterday so he fell asleep before supper so he didn't eat and he's trying to make up for it this morning. Poor little guy.
My DSIL texted me a few minutes ago, I've got 3 more added for Thanksgiving :) I think we're up to 15, I've got to find some chairs, I don't think I have enough.
Supper tonight is.....chicken is thawing but I don't know how I'm making it yet.
Tina

I forgot to come back Last night LOL I can't remember what I was gonna add anyway. I stayed up till 1 baking pumpkin pies for Holly's class today and cleaning my kitchen. She has an evaluation today, She says it's her observation and we're doing author's purpose, P. I. E (persuade, inform, entertain). My house smelled so good and it was warm and cozy without any other heat source.

Good afternoon from a very wet, cold, dreary, SW. Pa...Right now, it's just rain but they are calling for that "other" stuff later today...But, my car is back in the garage and that's where Ruby will stay...She might be a safe car but I know she doesn't like to be cold and wet....

Mary, 105 days till Spring, Yikes! Maybe those days will go as quickly as this past summer did and it will be warm again...Still no egg but Harriet is really sticking around the nest...I do feel bad for her, the eggs are sometimes only a day apart...I think if we had had a camper such as your's, Jim might have been more than willing, but he compared camping to sleeping in a tent while on his Korean venture.....But, the camping bug hit Kathy and she and DH do go several times a year...But, then they love all kinds of travel...Her DH, Tim, is in Alaska now visiting his brother and doing that man thing, hunting and fishing...He also said, they would be on an island but had to stay in a houseboat at night because of the bears....Kathy said, that really made her feel good!

Chickie, I love, love the hair cut and also the pink stripe...And for sure, you are one of the girls...I keep thinking how much you look like a very good friend of mine, almost be your twin and she wears her hair spiked.....Glad to hear DH liked it...Jim always liked long hair and when I'd get mine cut, he'd say, the boys have more hair than I did...And you know, you and Helen do look alike, too.....

Becca, It will be so nice to just be able to flick that switch when you need it...We don't realize how much we depend on the furnace until it's not working....If my furnace goes out, I'll move in with DS, Kevin, they have a log burning fireplace that heats their whole house....Of course he's the one with the Bulldog and I'm sure the cats wouldn't be too welcome, lol.....

Tina, Now you have me hungry for coconut cream pie, although, I'd let it cool off just a bit before I'd did into it....Oh my, poor little guy, missing his dinner....Years ago, when everyone would come for dinner, I got to the point, I'd tell them to bring their own plate and a chair....But, you know, you always find room, no matter how many come.....Enjoy every minute.....

Not much happening in this dreary, wet neighborhood...I had to run out this morning for another heart test, just hoping that valve job stays far in the future, lol.....Once again, I was going to sew but someone has already claimed the machine..I could use the other one but for what I'm doing, I like the one being used....Might just have to coax her onto the bed....But, then there is tomorrow, if I get there before Kelly.....

I have absolutely nothing in mind for dinner...I don't think there's anything left over so maybe I'll be hitting that bag of chips...AND Kathy tells me I don't eat right, silly girl......

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating...............
