Supper club, Sunday, September 23
Good morning!
Today is my half birthday and yes, I do celebrate. Nobody else does, but I do! My sister did give me a card. LOL it was a cat laying on top of a pile of quilts.
Travel has been pretty good so far. Spent the night in southern Idaho just west of Twin Falls. In another 340 miles we will be back in LaGrande Oregon at our friends. They aren’t there but the welcome mat is always out to anyone passing through. We will have fun this afternoon “decorating“ their yard with all the goofy things we found in the thrift shop. They will know we have been there.
We made camp about 2 PM yesterday, early enough for me to relax and cut a few more blocks of my second gypsy dancer quilt. While we roll along in the truck, I make yo-yos or do hand embroidery. I’m working on block #20 of 50 state birds and flowers Keeps me busy.
When I reread my post from yesterday it’s a wonder any of you were able to decipher. All the typos! I always try to proof-read after I dictate into my phone but didn’t have time yesterday as that was when we were closing up the trailer and starting out the day’s travel. Sorry.
Pam, so happy your brother got the extra week. He really needs It. His transition to being with easier with a little boy therapy
Irish, I think my phone mangled your name the worst!
Becca, I hope you never have to move. But if you do, I am sure your family will turn out in force to take the load off you and your hubby
Jana, since it was Saturday morning we drove through Salt Lake and saw all smoke you were talking about. Didn’t see Aaron anywhere, thank goodness. Smooth sailing. Would love to have seen you but when we are pulling this mule train we have behind us we don’t pull off the freeway for anything but fuel.
Chickie, sorry for you that you didn’t catch your dinner last night. But if you had, then I would have had to chastise you and no one wanted that
I think tonight for our dinner we will pull Our little steak out of the freezer and grill it and share it . We can also split a potato in half and grill it, too. And I can boil some baby carrots.

If I did it right here is a picture of us on the trail. Actually, that is a picture of my sisters UTV in front of us. We were last in a line of about 18 ATVs and UTVs. Except for our tail-gunner. All the trails were dusty since they haven’t had Rain in three months. But this one Was extra specially dusty!

Good afternoon from a sunny but chilly (to me), SW. Pa...I'm bundled up in a sweat shirt, jeans, socks and shoes and last night I even turned on the furnace (just a tad)......I know what's coming and I'm not liking it......
Mary, not to worry, we knew who you were talking about yesterday, lol...In looking at the picture, I'm not sure I'd be as adventurous as you...As I had said, I'd be the one back at camp, nice and comfy reading my book or sewing.....But, I really do admire your gumption.....Love the idea of decorating your friend's yard....
AND a very happy, happy "half birthday".......
Becca, I often think of moving and with even in my situation, it would be a lot of work....But, I know I should be semi ready for that day....Was just looking at pictures of the Blue Ridge Mountains and if the pictures are of this year, they are gorgeous...Even if they aren't this year's, they're gorgeous....That's one thing, I am looking forward to our leaves turning....Jim and I were always among the many "leaf peepers" up in the mountains.....
Yesterday, DGS, Dan and his lady, Casey too my sister and I to the Aviary and I finally got to see the eagles...It was great, we had breakfast 1st and then off for the day...I hadn't been to the Aviary since I went along on the kid's field trips, which was quite a long time ago so this was very much enjoyed.....
AND today, I just had a message from my sister, "Stuffed Meat Loaf at 5:00"..So, I think I should make something for dessert...The other day, when we were Amish shopping, we both started talking about Shoofly Pie and my Shoofly cake, so think I'll mix up a cake.....
As Chriss always says, "It's good to be me"........
You all have a great day......
Happy eating................

Re: Supper club, Sunday, September 23
Good afternoon! I’m always late, or so it seems. At least I can’t get pregnant; “late” used to be a dirty word! Fall seems to be here, as we are in the mid-70s. I’ve done laundry and hung out most of it—at least the items I thought would dry before dark. When I walked to let Choc out this morning, it was 58 degrees and 100% humidity. I thought I was swimming instead of walking! I worked up a steam and took off my cotton jacket and hung it around my waist as I came home.
Mary—I laughed at some of your typos from yesterday… BUT, at least you posted!!! I didn’t! I can always, or almost always, interpret what you are trying to say with little difficulty. I worked for years for professors and bosses who had no spelling abilities whatsoever. Seems like a PhD sucked all the letters out of their brains and put them behind their name. It was my job to make them look like they still had smarts. Sounds like your trip is going super well! Cool pic of the ride!
Irish—did you see where I read “The President is Missing” and loved it? I couldn’t put it down and missed sewing in favor of a good read… extremely thought provoking and scary! I’m enjoying our weather, but I never look forward to deep winter. We had a mild one last year, and I know we will get hit one of these years. The sumac is turning red, and there are yellowish casts to some of the other trees’ leaves. The goldenrod is in full glory along with the asters in white and purple shades. Isn’t our Mary ornery!!! I think taking yourself and a container for a care package to bring home is a good thing when going to your sister’s!
Becca—I hate moving!!! Hopefully DH and I can stay here forever. When I designed the house, I made sure 36” doors everywhere and pretty good access to everything. A slight ramp could easily be put in front for the 2 or 3 steps we have.
Pam—that is great news for your brother! Insurance is such a mess anymore. They seem to deny everything, even necessary things.
No, we didn’t catch dinner from the pond yesterday, but I had an alternate plan—Florida crustacean tails! They were delicious with sides of cocoanut rice and spinach. They were so good in fact they will be re-served tonight. When the hunters came, they re-stocked our freezer! I know I’m the bane of Mary’s menus!
Bon appétit!

Hi everyone
I'm sliding into my chair late again! I actually just sat down for more than 5 minutes for the first time today. I'm pretty exhausted. We had to run errands and shop today and then when we got bag, some nasty cleaning bug bit me and I started all my Fall cleaning! I just need to do the other bathroom tomorrow and the laundry and I'll be happy
I do need to clean the backyard again too. Busy time of year. Looking forward to seeing the leaves change colors.
We had leftover soup for supper.
Mary, looks like fun
my Dad is thinking about buying a little thing like yours, he was asking me about yours
but I know nothing about them so he said I'm no help LOL
Irish, you day sounds fun too.
Becca, I don't think I'd like to move either.
