SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Sept 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Sep 10, 2018 3:30 am

Good morning!

Can you believe Sept is already 1/3 over? Leaves are starting to turn here. The memorial yesterday was nice except Bill's beautiful video stopped twice during the presentation. In all his practice plays it had never done that. We decided to blame it on his nephew's projector. but he was able to restart it so nothing was lost, but he wanted a smooth play, I know.

we're leaving as soon as I finish this, shower, and pack the last few items. I'm not sure of the rush though. I-5 crawls about 20 mph for 50 miles going south. Better to wait until rush hour is over. In my opinion. But in matters such as this my opinion counts as much as the dog's. Besides, Foxy is out on his morning cat business. hard to find a black cat in the dark!

JANA - did you get that UFO finished? Was it a Christmas skinny?

BECCA - so nice to be able to cut bouquets from your own yard! I've never been able to do that. I'm a very bad flower mom. I hope you and all your family stay safe in the storm. Glad your son got home before it hit. My SIL and family live in Concord so I pray they will be safe, and my other SIL, Terry, is somewhere in VA. She doesn't share much info, even when I ask, so I can't even watch the news and know if she's in the path or not. she is in her small motorhome, visiting a friend.

IRISH - we'll pick you up on our way to Utah! Happy Anniversary, to Terry and Teresa. I forgot, too! lol! how far away from you do they live?

CHICKIE - I bet Odie loves to be Kind Dog at Gramma's! We all like one on one time with our elders! I make my soups, chili's, stews, and more in the crockpot. I don't use my rice cooker for anything but rice, even though it is also a slow cooker. But the lid doesn't come off for cleaning and it's hard enough to clean as it is.

Not sure how far we'll go today. It's 220 miles back to our gravel bar on the Oregon side of Columbia River. We spent last Monday night there on our way home from last trip. It's free and peaceful. In case you are wondering, our route will be south on I-5 to Portland, east on I-84 through Oregon and into Idaho. Then south into Nevada as far as U.S. 50 (called the lonliest road in the U.S.), then east into Utah to KOA in Richfield, UT. A total of 1,000 miles. Sorry, Jana - 100 miles of of I-15 through Utah's megalopolis just doesn't appeal to my driver towing a 30-foot fifth-wheel with an 8-foot extension with ATV on the back of that. There's no rest areas!! We'll be back on/around Sept 25.

Supper tonite will be leftover homemade pizza and if we're lucky we can sit outside and watch barges, riverboats, and windsurfers on the river. And don't be afraid to set the table without me! I could stand to miss a few suppers anyway!

miss you all!
mary

Good Morning,

It has been awhile again. Sorry, I do check on you girls every morning, but it is always same ole same ole here. So why bore you.

DH got the shot last Friday and it has worked some, but still in pain. He really can't do much. So Becca I can understand why it is so tiring for you and CA. I know you have been taking care of him for a very long time. It is so hard to see them in pain, but sometimes it gets to be old hat. lol We have been dealing with these back issues for a log time. The surgery was done the very end of March. Hopefully soon he will start feeling better.

Next week on Thursday I leave for my great niece's wedding in New York. I am meeting my brother there. It will be our time together and it has been a very long time for just the two of us. This the daughter of my niece that I just lost this year. My brother and I are the last of our generation and just had to be there for her. DH can't sit or stand long enough to fly so I will go it alone. Besides my great niece is getting married on my birthday and it has been centuries since I celebrated with my big brother. I am flying home the next day after the wedding to celebrate our 51st anniversary with my DH. So it will be a very busy 4 days.

Today for dinner we will be having spaghetti and Italian sausage. Also, I will hand embroidering Halloween blocks for a quilt I am making for my DD. Wont be done until next year, but he and the boys just love Halloween. Also, machine embroidering Halloween towels for me. If I keep them. lol

Oh yes, Luke, my dog, is totally recovered from his surgery and is back being my walking buddy. AND yes, because I have to do all the lifting, my hinney is still hurting. lol Got better, but then I hurt it again. I get my 5 - 6 hour infusion tomorrow...maybe that will help it, along with adding 3 lbs on my body. But I will work on getting that off and more AFTER the WEDDING. lol

Love to all of you,

Carole
