Supper Club - Sunday, September 2

Post by FarmChick » Sun Sep 02, 2018 8:35 am

Good afternoon! Looks like no one is at the table yet, so here I am—always ready to find something to nosh. This evening is the annual township volunteer fire department fundraiser—street dance and pulled pork dinner. We’ll be going up to have dinner this evening. It’s always fun to visit with people you don’t see but once a year.

I’ve swept floors, did some yoga practice, made brunch for DH, and all along have been feeding the washer and hanging laundry on the lines. It’s another overly warm day here.

The quilt show yesterday was nice. They had loads of quilts of honor done in red-white-blue patriotic themes. I think they may be smaller than Quilts of Valor—more throw size than bed size.

Jana—I thought of you at the quilt show. There was a panel featuring a train scene, and all around the one “picture” were one block wonders from either the rest of the panel fabric or a complimentary fabric. It was a really neat throw.

I think the guild must have had a one block wonder workshop, as there were a great deal of OBW quilts and throws. One lady and her daughter had made several wall quilts using a stash of African fabrics, and they won several ribbons in their categories. There were some really cute baby quilts, a pretty red and white Hunter’s Star, an amazing Feathered Star with unbelievable machine quilting, some really pretty vintage and antique quilts, and many more… We had such a good time. … oh yes! I did check out several of the vendors and throw some $$ their way. I tried to be (sorta) good and not spend too much. I found a book I’d been looking for since mine was burned in the fire. It’s by Atkinson Designs. I’d still like to find two more of hers—Lessons from Mama and Minnesota Hot Dish. DD and I invited DSIL to meet us for lunch, and we had Thai for lunch. It was awesome! DD and I went to Salvation Army thrift store where I found two pair of jeans and a great skirt. I’m hoping to wear the skirt to the December wedding—just need a cute red topper now. I’ll keep a look out for a sweater or jacket. I took Chicken Annie’s famous fried chicken by to Mom and brought some home for DH and myself for dinner.

Pam—your dinner sounds delicious! I’d use up all my points on condiments, too! I love veggies, but they usually need enhancements. All I can think about is food, too. Sigh! I totally feel your pain! So good to hear Bob is progressing in his therapy sessions!

Becca—my house takes more of a beating since everyone is retired. I used to never have to do much when everyone was working. Now it’s always a disaster. I hope you have no pests!

Linda—Enjoy your TLQ tomorrow! Good idea about the porcelain tile. I’m sure you still need to seal the grout extra well too. I’m a bit surprised they couldn’t seal the stone tiles better than they did. Glad DH has a plan and is settling down so you can relax!

Jana—yes, we grandmas know how to work for hugs! Your dinner last night is what they will be serving tonight.

Hope you all are having a super weekend! Bon appétit!

Hi, Everybody. Mom is making forbidden food for supper. Two nights in a row for me. She is baking mine naked, while the rest get panko crumbs on theirs. We will have zucchini, and maybe a bisquit. There is corn in the fridge, so I might add that in, too. I will have to count my biscuit and butter, and my ice tea.

Chickie, your quilt show sounds awesome. I love going to quilt shows. And the vendors are fun! You get to check out all the new rulers and tricks.

Bob is determined, and in good spirits most of the time. He is also very angry with the surgeon, and rightfully so. If the fact that he paralyzed Bob wasn't enough, the facts that he wouldn't listen to Bob, told him he could walk if he wanted to, and sent him to rehab paralyzed was unthinkable. It was because the rehab sent him back, that he got the emergency surgery. It sounds just as aweful in retrospect, as it did at the time. I am just so glad he is making progress. I hope they are able to keep him in MRU long enough to get him ambulatory. His home is just not set up for a wheelchair.

Have a great day, everybody who comes after!
Love,
Pam

Good late afternoon!

Karlie is still warming up, but at least talks to me and follows me around the house.

I know why God gives the little ones to young mothers! As Daniel would say when he was a little boy, I am de-hausted!

Dinner, as per request is broccoli cheese soup in homemade bread bowls.

The sheetrock is all replaced and being mudded as I type. Daniel will get the floor and toilet in, we will do the rest.

I did get the Halloween swap quilt together and now it is hand work here upstairs tonight. Karlie loves quilts and blankets.

Well, time to stir the bread dough, once every ten minutes, five tines. I brought the bowl over by my recliner as my hip is squawking!

Enjoy,
Jana
