SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 22nd
Good morning,
It was an early dog morning here. Somehow he got himself stuck half under the bed, with the footboard across his middle. Bill heard him whining, grumbled, got dressed and staggered outside, never noticing that he didn't have the dog with him! I got Scott loose, he ran outside, did what he needed to do, and charged back in, straight to the kitchen looking for breakfast. Not at 3:30am, Buddy!! Finding no food, he raced back outside again. Meanwhile, Bill stumbled back INSIDE, tossed his clothes and fell back into bed. He never noticed Scottie was back out and now was barking at the door to be let back in! So back out of bed goes Bill, mumbling some words about dogs that I won't repeat here. Scott comes rushing in and jumps on top of me (he's 38#!), looking for his breakfast! So now here I am, with you, at Oh-Dark-Thirty, while all the males in this household are back asleep in our comfy king sized bed. The moral of this story is CATS! Cats are definitely the way to go!
VELDA - sorry about all your computer woes. I am so lucky - Bill's degree is in computer science an he has a 37 year career in computers, IT, etc. Even if I knew anything about them, I wouldn't be allowed to touch them other than to use what he sets up for me. I figure if he dies, I'll call you!
TINA - sounds like you are running a cafe at your house! And let's do the meal math: You went out for supper and you were happy that you only had to cook 3x yesterday? Shouldn't that be NO cooking yesterday?
PAM - the raita sounds interesting and I'd like to try it, but I'm betting my DH wouldn't be putting it on his list of faves.
CHICKIE - I'm wondering if by the end of August you will think winning this challenge by Henry Glass fabrics is such a great thing! You will e sewed out! Do you see the end of the tunnel yet?
BECCA - I hope you can work out a visit to the hand specialist. I do realize the logistics of an appointment are difficult, and I would certainly explain to the doctor when you make the first appt that subsequent ones would be difficult so they need to allow time enough for assessment and treatment, if necessary. But better to go through all that with family's help than to lose full use of your hand.
JANA - I saw the photo of your Sunflowers quilt and it's AWESOME!! I love, LOVE it! Congrats! And what a relief to find those keys! haha! Some people's kids! As my mom used to say about us!
If Bill remembered to take the meat out of the freezer to thaw, I'll make swiss steak in the crockpot tonite with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. If he forgot, then we won't be having swiss steak! We were given some squash so I might be doing Becca's squash saute as a back-up plan.
What's YOUR plan? and do you have a back-up ready?

Mary oMG! Please don't call me for your computer...LOL...I have to call my son( I T guy!) Also great that grandson is following in Dad's footsteps so that gives me 2 back ups.
So funny about Scottie. Our fur babies are really something!
Pam: raita is something I have never heard of. Sounds complicated to make.
Jana: Thanks for sharing your picture. Love your quilt!
Tonight is Monical's Pizza night. I think it is a lical chain. We really love it. Can't get it in Texas, so we go often during the summer to get our fill. Just like DQ's 5Buck lunch deal. They don't offer that in Texas, so that's another summer treat!
Happy Taste Buds!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 22nd
Good morning! I’ve spent an hour rolling around on the floor practicing my yoga, swept floors, took care of humming birds, handed treats to the Hooligans… DH should be home soon for brunch. After that… quilting time! I really struggle with the free motion quilting on large pieces like the quilt.
Last night, I didn’t have to choose something from the fridge to fix. We went to the corner to celebrate DDL’s 50th birthday for Taco Tuesday. They had a huge crowd, and it was a lot of fun. Tonight will probably be fajitas or something.
Mary—you get so many things completed!!! Oh, that sounds like our house with the dogs! It’s funny after it happens, but it’s not when it’s going on! I’m still having fun with the Henry Glass challenge. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. If I get this quilt finished and still have time, I’ll make a few more things.
Jana—I totally love your quilt! The 9-patch border is really amazing. Thank goodness for Ethan’s memory! I love potstickers!
Vel—I’ve lost so much of my tech knowledge/ability since retirement. I’m still the resident IT person here, but it’s challenging some days. We have a metal house so have to have boosters in house from outside antennas for our phones and wi-fi. Pizza night sounds delightful! Also your DQ! There’s no good pizza in town, and the DQ closed down years ago. Braum’s is all there is for ice cream.
Becca—we have those light sprinkles here every so often. The other day, DH helped one of the guys work on his house, and they got rained out… only two miles from here. We had no rain, no sprinkles, so he went to cut wood. Yes, I need the dog walk breaks when I’m in my sewing room! I agree with Mary about your hand! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You’ve done so much for so many, time for them to step up for you and your DH.
Pam—what fun and tasty bites are you making tonight?
Tina—I hope you get a cooking break! Someone needs to cook for you!
Off to quilting… Bon appétit!

Good morning
I'm draggingng today, I think Scotty kept waking me up all night long too LOL
Mary, I really wasn't happy about cooking 3 times LOL I was being sarcastic LOL it doesn't come across in writing for me
Jana, glad those keys were found.
Becca, you should get your hand looked at by a specialist for sure.
Vel, I only eat pizza in the summer too, the winery owns a restaurant 60 miles away in Last Cruces so they only do the pizza thing here in the summer months, they have an outdoor oven here for that.
Pam, I don't eat cucumbers so I'll pass on this recipe
Chickie, you're doing such a great job on creating!
I have enough fresh cucumbers that Frankie just brought in to do at least 3 more quarts of pickles, that'll make 13 and I'm quitting with pickles for this year. I love when we get good production from the garden but we can only eat so much, we keep giving stuff away plus the chickens are getting nice fresh over grown veggies, they love it all!
I need to check out the freezer and see what supper will be, it's Dad's night to come over.
I do get tiredof cooking all the time and I had Frankie cook for me Last week and he cleaned the kitchen after.

Hello everyone, sunny here & warmer today.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 22nd
Good afternoon from a slightly overcast but warm, SW. Pa....We did have about 10 drops of rain earlier but I'm thinking that might be all we're going to get.....
I can't seem to remember to get this machine turned on and days go by and I have to go back and get caught up....
Oh Mary, you certainly do lead an adventurous life...You really should be keeping a journal about man and beast in your house....But, I do agree about cats in general but I have often wondered how a cat who only weighs 16 pounds feels like 50 when she jumps on your chest in the middle of the night.....And my DBIL's name is Albert...Did just talk to my sister and she is waiting to hear from the Hospice people...Not sure if he'll be going back to the nursing home or staying in the hospital....
Becca, I also agree with everyone about seeing a specialist about your hand...We all need you 100% better...I know exactly how you feel after dr. visits and/or just trips to town...I come home and want to nap.....
Tina, Too much cooking, yep, too much, you need to take it easy....I haven't made pickles for a few years but I sure did love them..AND cucumbers are a favorite, sliced with just salt, oh my....
Chickie, I too am so anxious to see this project your doing...AND knowing you, it will be fantastic!
Gotta tell you about my day! My DDIL, Cindy said, this was going to be "our" day, Thrift shopping and lunch! So, off we go and really only hit 2 shops, which took most of the morning, then lunch and then another huge shop...It was fantastic, we literally shopped until we dropped...She called when she got home and said, she thought she needed a nap...I probably won't move until tomorrow some time but it's a good "tired"...
Also heard from Kathy and she will be in Vegas so I changed my flight to Vegas instead of Reno..Then we will fly to San Jose over Labor Day, meet up with her DH, stay a couple of nights, go to the Celtic Festival and then drive back to Reno...She will fly back to Vegas and I'll fly home....Talk about needing a nap after that!
As for my dinner, maybe a salad but won't be much, still full from lunch......
You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 22nd
Good afternoon!
Thanks for the compliments on my quilt. But there is a reason it is named Sunflowers at the Frogging pond - there are sooooo many of the points rhat got nipped. It works, just like El says, hang it on the porch and drive by at 40 mph and you won't see them! LOL! Sarah has already laid claim for this quilt when I am dead snd gone - she has a long wait!
Mary - I told Michael about Bill and Scotty - he stuck up for Bill, saying that Bill thought Scotty was right behind him and went out the door. Men! LOL!
Chickie - hope you saw the above disclaimer - no way am I that good to enter any wuilt. I am just a utility quilt maker and my kids love them. You are busy feeding those hummers - I have set out food for them, but they are not in the neighborhood.
Tina - oh how I feel for your pain. It must be the weather, mine is hurting more too. Glad Frankie cooks and cleans too! A keeper! You better watch out, my kids will make a pickle run to your house.
Becca - pie is always good, edpecially coconut cream and chocolate! I wish we had a good doughnut shop, all we have here are the chains, no independents.
Vel - so good to see you! Pizza may make a appearance here tonight. Sounded really good when I read yours this morning.
Dinner last night was tasty and easy. The Korean potstickers were very good. I got them at Costco and will get another bag for the freezer.
The kids got off to San Diego this morning. Gracie started out very brave, but by the time we got to the airport, she wasn't too sure about getting on the plane. She hugged me very tight while they unloaded all the luggage, so we had a quiet talk about the big adventure and she was then ready to go. Gracie clung tightly to Lila's stroller, a good thing. Gracie is usually a explorer and runs off looking in all directions. The family is staying in a condo on the beach in San Diego. They will be home in a week.
Aaron is very excited on his new job. He will have a take home truck - too big for his garage and his driveway. A big truck! Lights, sirens, and when he responds to incidents on the freeways, he gets to use them. What else does a boy want! LOL!
Well, need to scoot and see if I can figure out the instructions on this really cute tote.
Enjoy,
Jana

Jana, your sunflower quilt is awesome! At our guild, we encourage the whole range of skill levels to participate in the shows. And you are good!
I am sitting in the Dr's with my socks off, waiting to be seen. I already know the labs are better than they were, but not where they should be. That's why I'm starting weight watchers. Have a great day!

I have to dump the too hot raita and make room in the fridge. Tonight? Maybe chicken breast and cucumbers and sliced tomato. My suppers always sound so healthy. Its the other stuff I eat that gets me.
Mary, those darn dogs. At least they go outside. No litter box!
